  1. I didn't see this thread when I created a thread on the nominations being announced on Wednesday. For the folks in the US, CBS is airing the nominations live along with a concert. At the moment, the only artist I know that is performing live during the special is Celine Dion. I do not know how they are doing the nominations. Usually the nominations are announced first thing in the morning but this year might be different. I don't know if all the nominations (there are a lot of categories) will be announced in the morning and then the major categories repeated during the concert, or if the non-major categories will be announced in the morning while the major categories would be announced during the concert. I predict that Coldplay will earn five or six nominations. I think they will be nominated for either all or all but one of these categories: Album, Song, Record, Rock Album, Rock Song and Pop/Group of the Year. I don't see the video for Violet Hill as being nominated.
  2. I would post it but I don't know how to take something from the DVR and put it on my computer. So, right now it's staying alongside the Ned's Declassified episode. BTW...the commercial tells you that the CD is available at Target. LOL!!
  3. In defense of the Jonas Brothers, their AMA award was the equilavent to the Grammy's Best New Artist. I don't have a problem with their award because of the category they were nominated in and they were not up against Coldplay. Also, I don't think Disney deserves all the criticism that they are getting. Disney markets their product to a certain population, and unfortunately, that population (tween/teenagers) is what the music industry is aiming at. The music industry is controlled by that population and what they want and like is what the music industry pushes for. Disney is only doing what they feel will earn them money. Older established artists complain about this all the time. They complain about how the music industry has lost it's way, and they even complain about how radio stations are following suit. It's hard for a lot of established and older artists to get quality airtime and even record music that they really want to record. So, until the music industry has a major shakedown then things are going to stay the same. I bet you that within the next few years there will be another boy band explosion because it's time for one to happen. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus. But, the majority of the blame lies with the music industry. They would rather listen to the kids, who are willing to fork over their allowances and part-time job earnings, for this kind of music instead of the older music lovers, who are more selective when it comes to spending their money on music.

FYI...the Grammy nominations will be announced on Wednesday, 03-12-2008. Normally the nominations are announced early in the morning but CBS is having a nomination concert that night, so I don't know exactly how the nominations will be presented. They might announce them all in the morning and then re-announced the nominations for the major categories during the concert. Or, they might announce the lesser ones in the morning and the major ones during the concert. Either way, we'll find out how many nominations Coldplay has earned and who they are up against. One more thing....the Grammy's will be held on Sunday, 08-02-2009.

I agree. I love the song but Jay-Z's rap blows. It sounds like he did not put much effort into his rap.
  6. I normally don't post in threads like this but I have to say that Will really does have a nice smile. However, in some of his pics he makes me laugh because his eyes seemed to display a look of shock at times. LOL!! As for the football picture...it looks like he's wearing a Real Madrid jersey but I know he's not. It's just the colors of the jersey that makes it look like a Real Madrid. I wonder if he cheered them on only slightly with Beckham was with them? Probably not.
  7. The one airing here has the VLV and LIJ videos. I saw the commercial again and the funny thing is Guy is not featured in the commercial. When they show VLV they show Chris, Jonny, and Will but not Guy. You do see him in the background of the LIJ video but that is about it. I gotta say the commercial is pretty nice.
  8. Has anyone seen the US commercial for the VLV/Prospket's March CD set? I was watching Ned's Declassified on Nickteen when the commerical aired. The funny thing is the commerical was on the network made for teens and yet those teens were most likely the ones who did not vote for Coldplay for any of the AMA awards. I'm sure someone will post the commercial on YouTube soon. I would upload it from my DVD recorder but I am not computer savy. BTW...I am not a teen. I was just watching that show because there was nothing else on TV.
  9. I received my copy yesterday. Amazon.com told me that I would not get it until the 26th but I was surprised to find it in my mailbox yesterday.
  10. I loved INXS. I really don't care for the new guy they have now but they were awesome with Michael Hutchence. IMO, he was the modern day version (80's and 90's) of Jim Morrison. He had it all...the sex appeal, the looks, the moves, and the voice. It is such a shame that he left us too early.
  11. It's also on Amazon.com US site, but there is no price or date listed. All it says is that Amazon.com will notify you via email when it becomes available but you have to sign up for the email notification in order for that to happen.
  12. I can honestly say that I voted. Heck, I even posted in the AMA forum after I had just voted though I posted under my soccer/football name.
  13. LOL!! I remember that moment. I think everyone's jaw dropped to the floor when flute playing man/group won that award. But, the thing with the Grammy's is that they are trying to fix their past mistakes in order to be taken seriously when compared to the other award shows. As shocking as it may sound but we don't know if Coldplay will even nominated for a Grammy. The Grammy's want to recognize more of quality and not sells, which is what they always did before. Will they recognize the quality of Coldplay? I hope so but who knows how many nominations they will get. If I remember correctly, the Grammy's redid their voting where as only members of the specific genre would vote only on that genre. For example, rap specialists would not vote for a rock artist in the rock categories. Believe it or not but that was how it used to be. Now, rap only votes for rap in the rap categories. The only categories that all members, no matter what their genre are, are Album, Rock, Song, and New Artist (not sure about Producer though).
  14. First of all, I have to eat my words because I predicted that they will win at least 2 awards but I was wrong. Plus, it is a rarity for a performing artist not to win especially when they are nominated more than once. Secondly, I did vote for them but maybe I was the only one voting for them.
  15. I think the shout-out to Coldplay show that these artists believe that they deserve it more than themselves. Unfortunately, the voters don't vote like that. They vote for image and not quality.
  16. The results of the show are to be blamed on the voters but the music industry does deserve some blame because they are pushing artists with images over artists with talent.
  17. This is proof that American music sucks balls (can I even say that?) because it's all about the tweens and what they want to see not hear. That is why image is so important to the music execs. If you have an image and shake the butt than you have it made. If you play your own instruments and write your own songs but don't shake the booty than the tweens are not going to pay that much attention to you. The future does not look bright at all.
  18. He got it because he did not win American Idol. It was a pity win and that's all.
  19. I apologize. I will have to eat my words because I predicted that they would win two awards and I was wrong. WTF is up with the people voting?
  20. I think it's in January. I do believe the nominations should be coming out sometime in December but I could be wrong. IMO, the Grammy's are not that much better.
  21. I agree that it doesn't matter if Coldplay wins or not, but I would rather see them lose to someone with talent like Alicia Keys instead of gimmicking artists like the Jonas Brothers. For me, I personally like artists from England because it's not all about dancing and shaking one's booty, which is basically want most American artists tend to do.
  22. Wow! I don't consider Coldplay as alternative but rather a pop/rock group, which they are also nominated in. Now I do consider Linkin Park as alternative because of the infustion of rock and rap. IMO, Linking Park got that award for the song Shadow of the Day, which is now the band's biggest hit.
  23. Oh wow! I will have to eat my words because, IMO, they should not have lost to Linkin Park. Then again, can Coldplay be classified as "Alternative"?
  24. Strippers have to be hot with no talent. Well, not the type of talent that can be shown on an award show. :D
  25. Why is it that whenever an artist gets an honorary award Justin is the one who freaking presents it? I truly doubt he is a big fan of Annie Lennox.
