  1. I remember when we were pondering this idea last year, but never actually did it. Glad we're doing it this time! Add me to the mailing list! :)

  6. 1. Lovers in Japan This song captures the spirit of the era perfectly. Energetic, a bit different, and theatrical. The butterflies helped solidify this epic, of course, but it holds its own as a recording as something you can listen to repeatedly. I've had a lot of "1st place" songs over the course of the era, but Lovers emerges victorious as the era closes. 2. Strawberry Swing This song was a huge grower for me, but I'm in love with it now. It's a dreamy song that simultaneously recalls simpler days while adding some fresh new tones. If you're looking for less mainstream material from the era, it doesn't get better than Strawberry. 3. Life in Technicolor I + II I feel these two need to be mentioned together. I disagree with the people who say that LITii should have been Viva's opener in the first place, as I think in order to fully appreciate LITii, you need to appreciate how amazing the instrumental version is. After that, the lyrics are merely the icing on the sake. 4. Viva la Vida When you take away all the mainstream appeal and plagiarism allegations and whatnot, this really is a beautiful song. It's an uplifting and harmonious anthem that draws from every theme of the era, from revolutions to paintings to death. When this song plays, you know you want to sing along every time. 5. Glass of Water This barely edged out Violet Hill in the end. It could have been a single, but you know what? I'm perfectly happy with having an upbeat song that's more obscure. I really do love the instruments in this song, with a real bang of a chorus and finale. Rainy Day and Prospekt's March may have been robbed of the live treatment, but I'm glad Glass of Water wasn't.
  7. A little late, but I just heard the new song. I think it's decent (along with the video). A little different and somewhat basic, but decent. I'd definitely like to hear it live. Speaking of setlists, anybody seen setlists for the U.S. tour so far? (not the U2 support acts) Just wondering what's in store.
  8. I suppose I missed the rumor that Coldplay was going to have a song in this, because I never heard it beforehand. "I Belong to You" is actually one of my favorites from the new album. Now if they used "Guiding Light", I wouldn't have given a crap. Hopefully you like one of the other bands enough to sit through all the teenage angst and attempted drama and romance.
  9. I admit, I'm not really a remix fan. But I will second every mention of "Talk - Thin White Duke Mix".
  10. The thing about the bands that had songs on the first Twilight Soundtrack is that those bands and songs became known as "The Twilight Song" or "That Band That Has a Song in Twilight". Supermassive Black Hole by Muse is a good example. I was playing the song in my car and my friend yelled, "OMG THIS SONG IS FROM TWILIGHT!" :veryangry2: Paramore basically became "The Twilight Band" since they had the main single for the original, so I'm scared shitless of what's gonna happen to Death Cab for Cutie, since they have the main single here (and I really like DCFC). I mean, new music from them, The Killers, and Thom Yorke is fantastic, but I'm afraid of what may result.
  11. 24 hours later, I'm looking back on this thread and completely laughing my ass off. :laugh3: It's good that I have a life again today.
  12. Yeah, I actually went outside for a bit(!) by the time the show was ending, so I got back and sent my thanks about 15 minutes after everyone was talking about their replies. Meh. If I don't get a reply, I'll just have to be faster on the next tour.
  13. Are you ONLY singing? Because if you have no instrument, certain instrument-carrying songs may not work as well. For instance, Clocks may not work as well, but Yellow might not be a bad choice.
  14. I'd actually like a download of the GPASUYF/Talk Techno Mix. It's the one thing I felt was left off LRLRL (yes, I know I can probably find it in the Multimedia section, but I'd like a crisp quality one). I sent an e-mail to the RSVP address simply expressing our confusion and crackpot theories. :P
  15. Nations fell. Planets were destroyed. Galaxies were conquered. And Anchorman's sanity imploded.
  16. Definitely the butterflies, although we don't know if Lovers in Japan will return or not next tour. One thing I'll definitely miss are the themes. Paintings, revolution, military outfits, etc. Makes me wonder what direction will be taken next. One thing I won't miss is the number 42 being referenced in everything. It was cool for a while, but it got to the point where I didn't care anymore.
  17. Wow, great sleuthing! The new design caught me by surprise at first, though I guess it's approrpriate since we have now exited an era. Almost feels surreal. Anyways, a little bland now, but a lot of fixes still need to be made to the new layout, so I'll give it a bit of time.
  18. Heehee..."Coldplay Friends & Family" :) Great huddle pic.
  19. Mother Nature is apparently raining on Coldplay's final parade of the tour. And you know what? I bet everyone's having a blast in spite of it. 24. Golly, what Coldplay shirt to choose? Or should I grab my Chris outfit? Maybe I should wear one over the other... How much do I value my dignity? Apparently not much at all.
