  1. Yeah, even though she's taking half a year off from touring (which is like...hardly any time at all if you think about it), she's still making plenty of TV appearances and undoubtedly recording for her new album. This probably means we'll be hearing some new songs, though, especially since she commented about playing some new stuff when she opens for U2. There's currently an exclusive pre-sale for a few of the dates, but they're super-expensive (way more than Ticketmaster prices) and all you get as a bonus is an exclusive poster. But I'm stupidly in love with the woman and took the plunge. That and I wanted to avoid the Ticketmaster headaches. :P
  2. NORTH AMERICAN TOUR IN JUNE. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG. Combined with the Grammy stalking, The Suburbs winning, and the new Radiohead album news, this is the best past 24 hours of my life.
  3. I just woke up only to miss the very implosion of the universe. Pre-ordering RIGHT NOW.
  4. The only thing I know about Esperanza Spalding is that Obama likes her music. I doubt that's a big enough endorsement for Grammy voters (at least, I hope it isn't), and people are calling this as big of an upset as The Suburbs' win for Album of the Year. Flo's performance made the lengthy tribute a whole lot more bearable, and Grammy or not, we still love her and her dress. I went stalking at Staples Center with a few buddies yesterday, and though we spotted a few stars, they were limited and sadly Flo was not one of them. (No, instead we got mowed down by crazy teenage girls crowding around the truck carrying Lady Gaga in her egg thing. Oh well, at least now I can say I saw Gaga in person without actually having to see her perform. :laugh3:)
  5. Back from Staples Center stalking. Didn't meet Matt, Dom, or Chris, but yes, we DID harass Tom and provide him with some letters from Musers. Come to think of it, I should have asked you guys if you wanted to participate in the project as well, but I was admittedly pessimistic about the whole thing. We realized if we spotted one of the band members (and we didn't), they probably couldn't take anything since they would be headed to the red carpet. Long story short? TOM KIRK IS THE MAN. :D We're hoping to get a Twitpic at the very least. (Our only two artists sightings were Mumford & Sons and Lady Gaga) The Grammys still haven't aired here yet, but congrats to Muse on their apparent win. Guess the old fogie vote-split theory came true.
  6. I wanted to go to the show last night and was closely following the tweeting and the scavenger hunting behind it, but it sounded like most people who didn't camp out the night they revealed the painstakingly obvious location clues were out of luck the next day. (There's lots of fan anger about this apparently, but I wasn't willing to brave the cold OR the creeps late at night in LA) Still, one of my close friends gambled by going to the venue last night just like you did, and she was able to get in (and she also missed the first song or two). Really jealous but it sounds like it was an amazing experience. Glad you finally got them to sign something!
  7. Yeah, I read about the Grammy thing yesterday, and the show is notorious for collaborations like that. Many of those collaborations completely bomb, so here's hoping Flo's contribution is a success. A couple artists like Arcade Fire are dong "secret" intimate shows here as warm-ups for the Grammys, but I haven't heard anything about Florence doing one. Oh well. And I'm totally used to seeing more women than men at concerts...Coldplay springs to mind, for instance.

Yeah it took me half hour to actually access The Strokes' website, and after I finally got through and filled out the form to download, I never received the e-mail. Whatever, it's apparently free for 48 hours, so I'm not in a rush.
  9. Chris's massive tweeting frenzy just now was unsuccessful on my part (I've still only gotten one tweet from him, but I know some people haven't gotten any at all), but The Chicago Tribune is now solidifying the rumors of Muse at Lollapalooza this year. As someone who has been planning on flying there for Lolla this year and has already booked a hotel, all I can say is JACKPOT. :D I should really book my flight sooner than later. A few other festivals are also in the rumors this year, so don't feel left out, European folks.
  10. Just found out that an extremely loyal Muser passed away a few days ago, and someone I happened to meet at one of the shows I attended. He'd attended numerous shows around the U.S. dating back to the beginning of the BH&R tour. Devastating stuff.
  11. I got excited when I saw a new Radiohead tweet this morning, since they haven't tweeted for half a year. Excitement was quickly dashed, but maybe it's indication that they'll start using the account more. Who knows.
  12. I won't be surprised if they throw Best Rock Album to Tom Petty, Neil Young or Pearl Jam solely because of their expansive careers and legacies. The Grammys have a history of rewarding those artists, even if their nominated stuff isn't the greatest. I think that category's the biggest uphill battle. I think Best Rock Song is their best bet thanks to weaker competition. Then again, The Black Keys' song is also good and Neil Young has the legacy thing going for him. So hopefully we'll get a good performance from Muse even if they end up going home empty-handed.
  13. Mine's just the album art. This one, except black instead of white. Picked it up at the show in December. I also saw a rainbow-ish one there but it just seemed too girly. It looks like there are less men's shirts available than women's, anyway.
  14. Precious as always. :) I'm gonna wear my Flo shirt to class today, partly because my friend wants me to and partly because I JUST CAN. :D

A search reveals no existing thread for Dan Bejar's Canadian band, Destroyer (though if I'm just being stupid, please merge). So why not show them some love? Bejar has a lot of side projects and contributions, but Destroyer is his baby. They recently released "Kaputt", an album which has been met with rave reception, and honestly the first album of theirs I've listened to in full. Really good stuff. Here's a glance at the title track: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFUdMbYpPEs]YouTube - Destroyer - Kaputt[/ame] And another one of my favorites from the latest album: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKwfqzTLe7o]YouTube - Destroyer - Blue Eyes[/ame]

30 seconds of "Under Cover of Darkness" up on Amazon: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MDPI9Y/ref]Amazon.com: Under Cover Of Darkness: The Strokes: MP3 Downloads[/ame] Available for download next week.
  17. Roadie #43 is in rehab and denied Internet access there. He also has a few legal issues with the Coldplay staff, who have issued a cease and desist letter which prohibits any leaking of LP5 info or scandalous band member secrets. (Translation: I used up all my good material for the R#43 gimmick and it probably wouldn't be very funny if I were to run it into the ground. I'll have to come up with another guise.)
  18. Yeah. It's pretty effed up. :laugh3: Some award shows are shown live here. The Grammys aren't.
  19. I voted. Now I own you. Get me a beer!

  23. Since I live in the L.A. area, I have some friends who say they're going to try to spot some artists before the Grammys, but I have serious doubts they'll be able to get anywhere near the vicinity of Staples Center. I tried saying just avoid trouble and watch the show from the comfort of your couch, but whatever, they may have to learn the hard way. Though it annoys me how the Grammys are only broadcast live on the East Coast and recorded for other time zone showings hours later, meaning I either have to avoid the Internet that night or find some alternate streaming source (like I did with when Coldplay was nominated two years ago :P)
  24. Oh dear, are we gonna have to start another poll wagering when Roadie #42 will finally post again? :laugh3: I mean, at this point we're all so underwhelmed that we're basically prodding each other with twigs and talking about the weather. The weather sucks, BTW.
  25. Haha. I've said this before, but you can seriously take any word in the English language and then add the prefix "Wolsten-" to the front of it and that word suddenly becomes awesome. Examples: "Wolstenbeast", "Wolstenbabies", "Wolstenpregnancy", "Wolstennickelback"...okay, maybe not that last one. Unless, God forbid, it's "Bad Romance Feat. Matt Bellamy". If I just sent a chill down your spine, I did my job. :P
