Live Albums
I love live albums. It makes me feel like I'm at a concert.

The Pink Floyd Thread
You should go see it. It's the most visually astounding concert I've ever attended. Like I said before, I'd go see it even if Roger wasn't involved. Him being there just adds authenticity. And unlike his DSOM tour, he can stake a greater claim to The Wall. That's pretty much all his.

Best Written Songs
I would also mention many of the songs written by Brian Wilson during the Pet Sounds era. Songs like Good Vibrations and God Only Knows are incredible arrangements, especially when you consider it's coming from a pop artist. I've always been a huge fan of Brian, and I think he was well ahead of his time when I listen to other music from that time period.

The Pink Floyd Thread
It's so hard to keep up. It's not even one reissue these days. There's like 4 or 5 different versions of the same album. I already have 2 different versions of DSOTM and The Wall.

Best Written Songs
It's funny you posted A Day in The Life. After reading the title, that was the first song that came to mind. I'd throw Stairway to Heaven, Baba O'Riley, and Paranoid Android on that list.

HAIL to the VEDDER
I have so much respect for Eddie Vedder. Obviously, I love him in Pearl Jam, but his voice sounds so amazing that I can see him continuing to release solo albums like this. Eddie sounds great over a simple guitar or ukulele.

The Beatles
I would love to see McCartney live. His tickets are so freaking expensive, though.

The Strokes
I was out in the lawn area. I didn't go over until way later in the evening. I really only wanted to see The Strokes. They were really good. This was the 3rd time I've seen them, and it may have been their best performance. I think they were going to come out for an encore, but they were pushing the 10:00 deadline, so I'm sure they were subject to curfew. Columbia is a residential area and planned community. Both factors do not lend to playing beyond the curfew time. There are major fines for going over by even a few minutes. By the way, the entire Strokes Sweetlife set appears to be available on YouTube. I have not gone through every one, but it appears all the songs are there in pretty good quality.

Your favorite song intro?
Good choice!!!

The Smiths
I just read that there is a new Morrissey greatest hits album being released (or it may have already been released). How greatest hits albums does that make? I know I have at least 2 or 3.

Your favorite song intro?
1. Sweet Child O' Mine - GNR 2. Money - Pink Floyd 3. Baba O'Riley - The Who

Ska
Early No Doubt is definitely ska. They evolved from there. Even as they evolved, their music still had a ska sound to it, specifically the guitar sound. By the way, I hate music labeling, so I'm not sure why I commented.

The Smiths
Morrissey is an interesting cat. I can't stand him, but am fascinated by him, all at the same time.

The John Frusciante appreciation thread
^ Ummm...I don't know about that either. Chad Smith is a perfect drummer for that band. I don't usually get involved in skill debates because those things are subjective, but I will say that the trio of musicians in RHCP are about as good as I've heard. As far as Antony goes, he doesn't really have great vocal chops, but it's hard to detract from a guy whose vocal style is a center piece of the band. In other words, you really couldn't replace him and still call it RHCP; his vocals and the band go hand in hand. RHCP were a kick ass band. I'm really sorry that it appears to be over. I've loved all their albums from RSSM forward (except the album with Dave Navarro).

The John Frusciante appreciation thread
^ Ummm, i don't know about that. RHCP's legacy is pretty secure. They are one of the best rock bands of the last 25 years. No amount of John goofiness can really taint that. As far as a creative force, I think John doesn't really take a back seat to anybody, and that includes Flea. I'm mad because there is no more RHCP, but I can't take away credit that John has earned over the years. I don't even like any Chili Peppers' albums before John, and I wasn't really crazy about One Hot Minute. He seems to have brought the melody to the band that I really enjoyed.

The John Frusciante appreciation thread
I hope it's good, too. I'm just always a little upset with him because I find his reasons for leaving RHCP to be kind of lame. He can do RHCP and solo work. I dont know; there might be another reason he's not sharing.

^ I'd hope so. Since he's ruined one of my all time favorite bands, he should have had plenty of time on his hands to write one.

The Strokes
I was at this show, too. The Strokes were great. the concert venue is literally right across the street from my new apartment, so that was convenient as well. I read your review. That pretty much sums it up.

Osama Bin Laden Is Dead
I'm not going to go deep into this discussion because these things can go on forever. However, I think people are intellectualizing what is a very natural and emotional response. To me, this is no different than a crazy man entering your house without provocation and shooting your entire family only to go on TV and unabashedly take credit for the entire thing. For many Americans, we knew people who died in one of the plane crashes or jumped out of a burning World Trade Center building to their death. These were our friends and our family - good people who were just living their lives. So while I was not in the streets chanting "USA-USA", I do understand the feelings that many Americans are having right now. I would imagine many of you would have similar feelings if it were your friends or family that were murdered.

Music hates itself.
I don't like putting that much thought into music. To me, it's supposed to be fun and enjoyable, not an academic exercise.

Music hates itself.
I agree with this 100%

I agree. I think she's a great pop artist. She's everything i would expect a pop act to be.

Vinyl Freaks and Geeks
Some vinyl becomes highly collectible once it stops being produced. I know Pearl Jam and Dave Matthews Band vinyl are very expensive.

Vinyl Freaks and Geeks
I love looking at people's vinyl record collection. It combines three things I love: music, artwork, and collecting. The size of the artwork on vinyl records is just great, and it's something that is definitely missing during the digital download area. I'm weird because I even love the smell of old vinyl. I really enjoy going to genuine record stores and thumbing through their racks. I also have a lot of autographed vinyl which, in my opinion, looks amazing hanging on a wall.

Vinyl Freaks and Geeks
Funny this thread should come up. I have been buying vinyl albums for close to 8 years, but I originally did so because I loved the artwork. Within the past couple of years, I actually started playing some of the vinyl records I've collected (long story but the main reason is because I move a lot and record players and stereo systems aren't that portable). Anyhow, I really enjoy listening to vinyl records, and I'm still very appreciative of the artwork. I used to buy a lot of used vinyl, but the cost of used vinyl has gone up considerably within the last few years. I remember picking up same major albums for around $3. It's nowhere even close to that price now. Yard sales are still a great place to pick up used vinyl cheap. Just a side note - I love it when you buy used vinyl and the prior owner left the wrapping on and just slit one end. It's awesome to find it in that condition.
