I might check them out. I also might have to ask them to drop the exclamation mark. At least they aren't substituting it for a legitimate letter of the alphabet like P!nk.

^ I don't know the other two, but I have unfortunately run into Panic At The Disco! In fact, they further validated my existing belief. Well see - it'll take a band like The Beatle$, Led Zeppelin&, (U2), Pink Floyd?, Pearl Jam!, or R@diohead to get me to change my belief.

I've got a rule that prevents me from liking any artist with a punctuation mark in their name.
  4. I have no clue what to expect from this band moving forward. It feels like they have last their way. I'm more curious than excited to what happens next.
  5. Such a misinterpreter, as always. I would like it if the album came out on CD. Is that an outrageous statement?
  6. Whenever they release the album, I hope it is somewhat conventional. I don't want to download anything or decide what it's worth or play any cryptic games. I just want to go down to my store and buy the cd.
  7. ^ Billy has a point. However, since he whines and complains about everything, no one even listens to him. Also, he has to understand the role of record labels. They are a business and in it to make money. They are putting money into what the people want and what will sell. People have a responsibility to demand more artistically adventurous music, and the record labels will follow. We've seen all of this before. The world was listening to goofy hairmetal until bands like Guns N Roses and Nirvana came along and made people feel silly for doing so. That snapped the music industry into a entirely different direction. Also, almost every artist that is considered adventurous, yet still a household name, has put out a very commercial record and used "the machine" to get their music out there. From that pont, they move to the margins, and people either follow or they don't. But most people wouldn't even know about them if they weren't on the radio with some mainstream sound.
  8. ^ When you say "him" are you referring to Axl? I believe I've read that he claims sexual abuse as a child. Who knows? He's nutty, that's for sure. Favorite GNR song is Rocket Queen.
  9. ^ I hope they do come out with an album. Having a new band tour behind old Thom Yorke solo material wasn't the best idea IMO.
  10. You could throw Joy Division and AFI into the mix.
  11. I am a HUGE fan of dark music. Its basically mood music, and I love it. The most obvious choices are music from The Cure, The Smiths/Morrissey, and Depeche Mode. The post above me had some good suggestions. Alice in Chains (Down in a Hole is a great choice), NIN, Tool, and some Stone Temple Pilots fit the bill. Sometimes artists that you don't associate with dark music come out with some pretty heavy stuff. I'll have to look through my library and come up with a list.
  12. ^ no doubt it's a good list of albums, and this comes from someone who hates music lists for the most part. But the nod to Nirvana by Q Magazine readers is obligatory. As a general rule, they are not listening to Nirvana, but it's seems like you can't have a music list without Nevermind hovering somewhere at the top.
  13. Lists are so funny. Notice how Nirvana's Nevermind and Gnr's Appetite for Destruction are both listed, however, anything remotely close to them are left off. Do you really expect me to believe that Q Magazine's readership actually are big fans of Nirvana? People feel obligated to list that album because they've read too many other "best of" lists. I would list Nevermind in my top 25 albums, but I am a big fan of 90s alternative and grunge rock. Where's Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie, Pearl Jam's Ten, Alice in Chains' Dirt, Soundgarden's Superunknown, Nine Inch Nails' Downward Spiral, Stone Temple Pilots' Core, etc. Nope, it's the obligatory nod to Nevermind, and then back to Brit/Indie rock.
  14. ^ I would have loved to see EV solo, too. But I was in the same boat as you - too much money for a solo show. I would prefer to save my money for when PJ comes around.
  15. Chad Smith looks like Will Ferrell, so it's even more funny to see him in an elf outfit. He could have easily replace Will in the movie Elf.
  16. Very nice review. I have 2 shows coming up on the 360 tour, but I'm just not crazy about stadium shows. I need to find a way into the inner circle so I don't feel miles away.
  17. ^ Social Distortion is a revolving line up with the exception of Mike Ness. He always gets good musicians, though. The fat drummer (his name is David Hidalgo, Jr) is holding it down. He is also the son of David Hidalgo from Los Lobos. The new song sounds good. And what more can you say about Story of My Life? It's a classic.
  18. Mother - Pink Floyd
  19. ^ I'm not a MCR fan, so it's not really a knock on them. I just wasn't impressed. Normally, I wouldn't tune in for them, but it was a radio festival.
  20. I was going to comment on this, but I've been so busy. Their ACX performance was great. You are lucky you got to see it.
  21. I'm always backlogged when it comes to music. There's only so many hours in the day. Whenever I'm looking to expand my musical horizons, I usually pull a "greatest albums of all time" list. I can't imagine moving forward without having listened to Led Zeppelin IV, Dark Side of the Moon, Abbey Road, Born to Run, Joshua Tree, OK Computer, etc. It sounds so obvious, but you'd be surprised at how many important albums people never even listen to or give a fair chance.
  22. That's awesome. McCartney is probably at the top of my list in terms of artists that I want to see in concert but never have. He's been around my area a couple times recently, and I just couldn't pull it all together. I have such regret about that. That's good that you're going to get to see him. Don't live a life of regret like me ;)

I dont know anything about them, but that's a bad name for a band. I hope they're good; they've got a lot to overcome.
  24. I would probably rank them as follows: 1. U2 2. Radiohead 3. Coldplay 4. The Strokes 5. Social Distortion 6. Red Hot Chili Peppers 7. Foo Fighters 8. R.E.M. 9. No Doubt 10. Blink 182
  25. Next year is shaping up pretty good, isn't it?
