  1. Just a warning: Being a fan of OKC doesn't necessarily mean you will like Kid A. Radiohead lost me for awhile when they did Kid A. I was like, "what the he'll is this!?!". It might be my second favorite radiohead album now.
  2. Not entirely different. John doesn't feel he needs to be in a big rock n' roll band; he likes doing music for the sake of artistry. It's the same reason both times.
  3. There are still seats available for the Santa Barbara show. I am not purchasing them now. I am going to wait and see what their set lists look like at other shows.
  4. The first show I ever saw live was on the in rainbows tour. I tried for tickets on earlier tours, but got shut out. I do, however, attribute my love of the band to one of the shows I got shot out of. It was at a small outdoor ampitheater in Los Angeles called the Greek theater. I went up there to see what all the radiohead buzz was all about. People were asking several hundred dollars for scalped tickets and, being resigned to the fact that I was not going to make it in that night, I found a park bench and laid down. It was a warm summer night up in the hills of Los Angeles, and I could hear the music perfectly. I was blown away by the sound and told myself that I was going to invest some time into this band. I have been a fan ever since.
  5. I've only been a hardcore fan for 5 or 6 years. I mean, I had the bends and ok computer when they were released, but my musical tastes weren't mature enough to appreciate much more than the radio singles. I have seen radiohead once and thom yorke solo twice. The problem with radiohead is that it's so tough to get tickets. I've listened to 4 other shows from outside the concert venue. I would have paid to get in, but not 5x the face value. As much as I like radiohead, I like a lot of different bands, and I tend to not spend a lot of money on any one show so that I may see more shows. Also, I have been in undergraduate and graduate school for a long time, which means that I was essentially broke. Now that I am done, I will drop some decent money to see them the next time they come around.
  6. This is the 2nd time he's flaked on this band. I support him wanting to do his own music. I get that. But there is no reason he can't do both. And by not doing both, because he no longer feels like it, he is letting down a bunch of fans.
  7. ^ I have never bought that arguement. You travel the world essentially asking people to listen to your music, support your vision, travel long distances to see your shows, and then, all of a sudden, you decide "I don't like this anymore". As if playing rhcp songs all of a sudden became like sweat shop labor.
  8. Yeah, one of the biggest misconceptions out there is that Thom Yorke is not a nice guy. He has been cool every time I've met him. It sounds corny, but I am happy to be able to say that one of my favorite musicians is a kind person. It sucks when someone you like is actually a jerk. And trust me, I could tell some stories of musicians that are assholes.
  9. Thom has like 7 or 8 different signatures. I've gotten him to sign at least 15 items for me over the years, and the one you got is a really nice one. It's the type of signature you would expect to come from the mind of Thom.
  10. ^ I still think he should have stayed in RHCP. They only release an album every 4 years anyhow. He would have plenty of time to do his side project.
  11. Each album is so different, but I think Hot Fuss is their best album start to finish.
  12. See, that's why part of me is glad that Canada won the gold. I mean, I wanted USA to win, but if they had, it would have held our national interest for about a week. On the other hand, Canadians will never forget this day.
  13. ^ After winning the gold, that would have been a perfect opportunity for Neal Peart to bring out his NHL logo drums. Instead, Canada uses the world forum to give us Avril. Oh, the humanity...
  14. :o Oh Canada, that is the most horrendous iine-up ever! What, were Arcade Fire and Rush busy?
  15. Harrowdown Hill sq
  16. Man, it sucks that USA lost, but at least they played well. This was life or death for Canada; it was just another Sunday afternoon in the United States. Both teams played well. Congrats to Canada!
  17. Also, Atoms for Peace is not a bad name, but it's also not a good one. Thom should've listened to some Talking Heads before coming to this decision.
  18. Yeah, that's right. He played a B-side. It wasn't very memorable for me.
  19. Well, I saw two shows when he was in Los Angeles with Flea and Nigel and such. They were the same list save maybe one or two songs. And the Eraser in order both nights. It was cool, but I don't think I'd pay to see it again. Plus, NO RADIOHEAD SONGS. This set list has renewed my interest. We'll see what happens when he reconvenes with.....with whatever he's calling his band.
  20. See, I would want to see this. A good mixture of Radiohead songs, solo stuff (not every song from the Eraser in order), and new material. Bravo  Here's hoping he continues this pattern. Thom's playing in Santa Barbara, which is where my parents live. I might check it out if he keeps this up.
  21. This whole thom yorke solo thing doesn't excite me any longer. I mean, it's great, don't get me wrong. It's just hard to get excited about an above average album (the eraser) being played in sequential order and perhaps 4 new songs, like lotus flower. I just wish they would do something different besides the eraser. This whole project hasn't taken shape the way I thought it would. I liked the Eddie vedder solo project/tour better.
  22. Yeah, this is a good point. No other band that I know of switches it up more than PJ. Twice, I've followed them around for 3 shows in a week. Every single show was dramtically different.
  23. Yeah, I actually like them. I've seen them as an opener, and they were good. Jason Wade has a really good voice. However, I don't suspect you will get a very postive response on this board.
