  1. ^ Indeed, Frank is the man.
  2. :laugh3: Just slightly
  3. ^ Yeah, it's clear that we are all drawn to Frank because of his killer tunes, not his outstanding looks :D
  4. I've always liked u mass.
  5. ^ haha...that's what I thought you meant. Some stuff is very experimental, and they love the distorted guitars. Plus, frank is a bit of a screamer.
  6. Sometimes...but listen to their best of...(wave of mutalation). Some of their stuff is more catchy and melodic than what broke into the mainstream. That's why I'm always surprised that it wasn't the pixies who broke down the door.
  7. After concerts, award shows, the bullet in a bible movie premiere. I collect music memorabilia, so it's a hobby. They used to be friendly, but now act more like it's a bother to spend time with fans. Not rude, just not friendly. Tre and Mike especially. Never had a problem with Billie (except he once accused me of selling stuff on ebay, which is not true). Whatever...
  8. That's cool. Glad your experience was positive. I live in Southern California, and they roll through here often. I have met them all several times, and they are not as friendly as they used to be.
  9. Not bad
  10. All the guys in Green Day have changed over the years. They are still alright, but they certainly have a chip on their shoulder. That's always the downside when a band you like gets big (or big for a 2nd time in the case of Green Day).
  11. Several artists name the Pixies as an influence. Kurt Cobain was a huge fan. In fact, "Smells Like Teen Spirit," the song that brought alternative music to the masses, almost wasn't released because the band was afraid that people would call it a Pixies rip off.
  12. Then you need to listen to more Pixies. Where is your mind is great, but there is so much more. Easily, and without question, one of the most influential alternative rock bands of all time.
  13. ^ I agree, 2 years is probably fine, but that should be the upper limit. I would like to see a year to 18 months. They are too young to need a super lengthy break.
  14. First off, condolences to Brandon. Losing a family member is hard, especially your mother. I never doubted that there was a family illness, but I still doubt that this is a cohesive bunch. Not that you ever want anything like this to happen, but since it has, I hope the band uses this as a rallying point to build better relationships with one another. Whether they know it or not, a prolonged hiatus is one of the worst career moves a band can make. A year or two is fine, but anything beyond that and people forget about you. That's sad but true. Bands reunite to have successful tours, but how often do they put out good material after an extensive hiatus? I can count them on one hand. Normally, I wouldn't care, but I believe the Killers have the potential to have a lengthy stint as one of the greatest bands out there. I can't say that about many other bands today.
  15. Well, for once I agree with Liam....Oasis 2.0 IS a shit name.
  16. I have heard a lot of possitive buzz about this band for some time, but I haven't listened because I can't get over the fact that they have the most retarded band name of all time.

^ I thoght Pete was pretty lively. He jumped across the stage on a few occassions, and there were no shortage of windmills. I sort of get what people are saying about their age, but I think that is misplacing where the focus should be. This is not the who of old. In fact, this is only half of the original band. And the members lost, Keith and john, are going to make most respectable lists as far as best musicians for their instrument. Nevertheless, I still think they rocked in a way that would put 90% of today's rock acts to shame. It's kind of like the old timers coming out and showing the world one more time how it's properly done. That's what my focus was on and, with that as the criteria, I say mission accomplished.

I know what you're saying; he wasn't spot on the entire performance, but I didn't think it was bad at all. Dude is 65 and signing songs that he originally sang 40 some odd years ago. His classic scream coming out of the break in "won't get fooled again" was fantastic. I have seen the who twice in the last 5 years. They are still great live despite only having two original members. I really think zak pushes that band. That boy can play. Anyhow, I am happy that the superbowl gives these classic rocks acts the big stage. The kids may not like it, but I sure do. I don't want to go back to the days of MTV run crap.

^ Part of it is already up.

Granted, the 9/11 performance was better. They were electric that night. Plus, they still had one of the great bass players of all time, John, still playing with them. Still, this is almost 10 years later, and they are still kicking ass. By the way, Zak Starkey is the man. His dad should be proud, and his mentor, Keith, too.

Pete and Roger rocked the Superbowl. I can't believe they put on this good of a show in their mid 60s....Legends!
  22. I'm kind of surprised John Mayer is getting love of this board. It's just different from what usually receives attention. The general pattern I've seen with John Mayer is every fourth or fifth song I hear is good. Don't know why, but it always appears to be the case. That said, I've been able to put together a pretty healthy list of songs I enjoy by him over the years. My favorite song "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room." It's a classy, moody, sexy, throw back of a song. It makes me feel like I have an appreciation and understanding of the blues when, in actuality, I don't.
  23. ^ Really? I'm loving it. It's very well done.
  24. ^ Thanks. I have a Mac Book, so I always forget to hit ctl + click to get the right click options. I was able to download the MP3, and it's already on my iPod. By the way, I am loving the sound quality. Not sure if this went through the mixing board, but it sounds pretty close.
  25. I don't know if this has been posted, but here is a link to the Haiti relief show in Los Angeles: http://webinfront.net/?p=3337#more-3337 It says you can stream or download it. I am able to stream, but can't download. Anyone have any luck downloading.
