  1. Oddly, TMZ does some amazing reporting. That goofy site gets stories way before the rest of the media, and, often, that shit turns out to be true.
  2. I was in the shower and I was like, "da, da, da, da, da fix you.". I just needed the rest of the lyrics and some music. But I definetly sparked the fire. Thieves!
  3. I just want everyone to know that I wrote "Fix You," and it's bullshit that I can't get paid.
  4. Congratulations. I hope they tour Australia again in the near future. It sucks that Eddie was really sick for the Sydney show. I hear it was a good show, but everyone should get to see PJ when they are at full strength.
  5. Yeah, I agree with this. She is better than most pop stars (she writes her own music, plays at least 2 instruments), and her songs are catchy with a decent story (especially if you are a young girl). However, I cringe every time I hear her perform live. Can you say tone deaf?
  6. Millions and millions are available if he would just rejoin Johnny marr. Promoters are willing to pay big bucks if the two of them team up again and call themselves the Smiths. They don't even need Andy and/or Mike to get paid big.
  7. He is so odd, but I love him to death. One of the most insightful artists of all time. He will go down as one of the all time greats. Viva Moz!
  8. It's important to note that this is a reader's pole. Rolling Stone bagged on Sam's Town big time when it came out. In fact, I went to an in-store with the Killers the day the album was released. This girl went up to them and asked that they sign the picture next to the review. Everyone in the band made bad remarks about the review. In fact, they thumbed to another page in the magazine in order to autograph it. They refused to sign anything next to the awful review they got from R.S.
  9. I don't understand why John can't do his solo projects and be in rhcp anymore. I mean, the chili peppers always take at least 4 years to put out new material. By my calculations, that still leaves him plenty of free time to do his own thing. If he wants to tour less, then they should do it. But don't mess up something that is so good. Just my opinion.
  10. Just a little FYI. Muse will be broadcast live tomorrow from KROQ's Almost Acoustic Xmas. I watched the webcast tonight, and it was amazing quality: http://kroq.radio.com/
  11. ^ From a musical perspective, John, Flea, and Chad are as good as it gets. Without a doubt, Anthony is the weakest musician (of course, I am classifying his voice as his instrument) in that band.
  12. You know, we take a lot of rock musicians for granted because, with rock essentially starting in the 60s, most of them are still walking amongst us. And those who have died usually obtain legendary status because of how their music lives on after their passing. It's incidents like the one with rivers that makes me realize how lucky we are to have our musical heroes alive. It also makes you realize that they can be taken away in a blink of an eye. Glad rivers is ok.
  13. You always have to worry about John. He is so fragile. And you know it's saying something when you can designate him as "the weird one" in a band full of weirdos. Even Chad has said that he is the only normal member of that band.
  14. I just don't like mike shinoda as a person. I find him annoying at linkin park shows. I don't know how many times he has asked "how many old school linkin park fans" are at the show. Hey, how about you wait until you clear a decade before you designate fans as old school.
  15. I do like linkin park for a change of pace. It's not mind blowing music, but it is well produced and sounds good.
  16. Ahh, the Smiths! Been listening to them a lot recently. Whenever they work their way back into my rotation, I always have to field the "is everything alright" questions. Yep, all is cool. I'm very well-adjusted, but it is relaxing to be melancholy on occasion. Been listening to The Queen is Dead a lot. No song is better than "There is a Light..." IMO, but I really dig "I Know It's Over". Oh Morrissey, you sad little chap. Good stuff.
  17. I've got no problem with pop music, either. In fact, some of my favorite music is rock that has great pop sensibilities (i.e. catchy, melodic, full of hooks). What you have to do is distinguish disposable pop from non-disposable pop. But is this really the best that music has to offer in 2009? To be fair, I don't really listen to Lady GaGa, Beyonce, or Black Eyed Peas, so maybe I am wrong. Is this classic pop music along the lines of Prince or Michael Jackson?
  18. Agree completely
  19. I am kind of surprised at a few things: 1. U2's NLOTH didn't get nominated for album of the year, and 2. Dave Matthews Band got nominated for a couple of ALBUM categories, including album of the year. For the record, I don't think U2's album deserves album of the year, I am just surprised by the fact that the Grammies snubbed them. Grammies usually are U2 puppets. Glad for DMB. Rarely does he (and his band) receive any critical claim. And I don't know what to make of Taylor Swift. I have no problems with her, but is this really the best we have to offer in music for 2009? I mean, she is tone deaf in every live performance I have ever seen.
  20. Early weezer is awesome. It's like a guilty pleasure that there is no need to feel guilty about.
  21. I agree. A good Stokes effort could do the trick. But they have lost a lot of steam since Is This It. Still a killer band, though.
  22. There is no way this will happen. Billy has alienated every single original member of that band.
  23. Also, I find everything on weezer's blue album to be incredibly uplifting. Did you know that my name is, in fact, Jonas? No it's not :D
  24. Yeah, most people don't think of them. But check the artists who list Brian Wilson or the beach boys as an influence. Most notably is Paul McCartney. However, when you are checking off the names of major musicians, McCartney's name always comes up quickly, as it certainly should. But the point is that you can finish an entire conversation and brian's name might not even come up.
  25. I like to listen to the Beach Boys in order to cheer up. There is no denying songs like Warmth of the sun, good vibrations, sloop John b, wouldn't it be nice, etc, etc, etc. Brian Wilson is a genius, and I know I sound like a broken record, but I don't think he will get the credit he deserves until he passes. He's one of the greatest song composers of all time.
