Ohhh Sigur Ros.. love this song!! ♥ The tracklist so far has been magnificent. :D But I missed the first three. :( Politik owns my soul.. it's one of my favourite Coldplay songs of all time. Never fails to make me feel loads of emotions all at once.

Ambient music before the gigs of COLDPLAY ?
I know that they played one "ambient" piece before Jay-Z came on that was the instrumental version of Imogen Heap's song "Last Train Home". They also played some Sigor Ros did they not? I could have sworn they did..

Is anyone else feeling a little lost and down today?
Nope, I've got post-concert/viva-era-depression too. I was on a complete high on Sat after the gig but waking up the next morning, all day I felt.. well depressed! Really low, like I was mourning something! It just has that bittersweet pain to it, because it's an ending... and a new beginning also, but right now all I can think about is how much I'll miss this era. The South Bank show did give me that giddy high again though.. I can't wait for them to be back. :D

19-Sep-2009: Wembley Stadium, London - Tickets, Previews, Meetups, Reviews/Photos
Hello Coldplayers! Excuse me being a bit late to post my thoughts on the gig... it took me two days for the reality to sink in that I was even there, the whole thing was like a really surreal dream!! Sorry if this is a bit long... I got a little carried away! Sat night was my 2nd Coldplay gig ever (having seen them in Dec last year on the UK leg of the Viva Tour) and I have to say out of the two this was definitely the best. It was just incredible... I feel so lucky to have been there on the last gig of the Viva Era. It was the first time I've gone to Wembley, and I have to say, when I first got their and walked down the steps I was overwhelmed by the enormity of it. It really is massive. Me and my family had general admission tickets and we ended up settling for about the fifth row of Unreserved Level 1 seating. Although I had hoped to get a good position near the main stage or the b-stage but although we were within the first 100 people to get through the J gate it was really too late already so me and my brother gave up. I still had a great view and to be honest you couldn't feel much nearer to the stage if you were in seats. The atmosphere in the stadium was absolutely amazing.. the boys couldn't have asked for more of a heroes welcome. It was like everyone was there to show their appreciation for them, to celebrate the end of the tour. :) The response from the crowd was just fantastic... I couldn't believe how many people seemed to be singing along to most of the songs, it was every single person was singing their heart out along with you. It was such a feeling. On some of their most well known tracks like Viva La Vida and Trouble I could hardly hear Chris through all the voices.. including mine :D :nice: As we were very near to the right hand screen I could see everything very clearly and I saw the large group of front row Coldplayers on the screen quite a few times.. so very lucky all of you! ;) Jay-Z worked the crowd up to fever pitch by the end of his set.. I was actually suprised at how positive a response he got from the crowd, everyone was bopping and rocking and throwing their diamonds in the air! Head banging even during 99 problems... such a great moment :laugh3: I enjoyed his set so much, more than I thought I would actually. Call me a convert. :D By the time the Blue Danube came on I was so excited. When it started to rain I was worried that there would be a delay, or worse if it didn't stop that Chris wouldn't be able to come out on the walkways, the roadies where clearing so much water! I will never forget watching the crowd getting soaked to the skin while Glasses of Water played.... it was amazinggg. I thought the weather really added to the atmosphere, I wished I had been in the pit with everyone, although I was kind of glad my camera couldn't get wet! :stunned: The whole thing is kind of a complete blur to me, but some things I can remember that I really loved: 1.Billie Jean on the b-stage, sounded fantastic, this song really suits Chris's voice, his MJ-esque added sound effects had be giggling and it was so great hearing the whole stadium singing along... a fitting tribute to Michael Jackson that I thought he would have been very proud of. 2. Lost! with Jay-Z, really hoped he'd come on, loved the man hug at the end of it. :D 3.Chris trying to put a Viva crown on Guy's head and it slipping off and them both giggling  Hehe, was an adorable moment! Couldn't help giggling myself at it, guess I'm a ChrisBerry girl afterall! :P 4. Chris getting everyone to do the Mexican wave, what a spectacle, never done one before and it was so cool to watch. 5. The Hardest Part, thought Chris's voice sounded especially good (no mean feat considering how much it's been used this last year!), loved the more tender emotional way he sung it, was really from the heart. It was really funny how he forgot the words/lost his place and then made up the lyrics... love him so much. Classic Chris. 6. Jay-Z talking to people in the crowd, especially when he pointed out some of the Coldplayers banners! :D I thought he was really quite humble for someone with such a well-known ego, he even said thankyou to the crowd :shocked2: :laugh3: 7. When Chris collapsed on the left hand walkway just before he sung Lost!, just knew he was gonna do one of his ultra gymnastic flip up moves which he did just as the drum beat to Lost! started. Feeling of euphoria in the crowd at that moment was soooo good. Everyone had their fists pumping with Chris to "I just got loooost..!" :D 8. The fireworks coming over the stadium roof during Fix You. Gaaaah. 9. One of the roadies (?) break dancing on the walkway before Jay-Z! He was so entertaining and actually quite good.. everyone gave him a massive applause and laughed. 10. Everyone singing the "Ooo-oh-oh-oh-ah-oh" bit of VLV during the interval play of White Duke remix. And coming out of the stadium with everyone singing it! A few minor things I was disappointed about was the fact that they didn't change the setlist at all.. I was hoping they'd mix things up a bit, perhaps play a few of the older songs they haven't on this tour. But oh well. At least they played Trouble. Also, I thought the base was definitely too strong some of the time. It seemed to over power everything else and at times I thought it drowned Chris out a long with the crowd noise. That's the big negative about a Stadium gig like Wembley, it's almost impossible to get the sound pitch perfect with such a large audience to cover. Also, I was suprised that Chris didn't say any other words after the encore. I mean, to signal the end of this incredibly long tour and to the fans?? He just said the quick thankyou and goodnight. Hmm. :\ But I think perhaps he was overcome by the moment, I think they all were.. and they whent straight to each other and Phil to share it. That hug was so sweet, made me want to cry I felt so emotional! I loved that beforehand Will, Johnny and Guy all came to each corner side of the stage and looked down at everyone and bowed. All three of them got such a fantastic applause, and they all looked so happy! I think Guy got the most screams and shouts out of all of them.. hehe. ;) I just didn't want it to end, and I don't think anyone else did either.. I wanted to thank them in person for the best night of my life, because it really was. Afterwards my cheeks hurt from smiling and grinning so much, my throat hurt from singing at the top of my lungs, my feet hurt from standing and dancing around like a maniac and my head hurt from the sheer volume of the noise... but I didn't care one bit, because the feeling this band give me, the feeling you get listening to their music and singing along to these songs that each have your own memories and stories and emotions attached to them with so many other people that share the love for them with you.. it's indescribable. I loved every minute of it and I will never forget the experience. It couldn't have been a better show for the closure of the Viva Era. :nice: And now I feel like crying again, darn it! *happy tears* ETA: Here are some of my best pics: click

What will you miss most about the Viva era?
Oh god, I can't possibly choose just one of them. I'll miss everything about it.... ohhh  The whole military theme has come to embody them as a band and their music so much that I can't imagine them wearing "normal" clothes again on stage, you know? But I suppose we would get sick of them in the end.. plus, those jackets must stink to high heaven by now. :P And the butterfly confetti... I'd miss that so much if they don't keep it like they did with the X&Y yellow balls... it was so beautiful and yet I never got to stand under it in the two concerts I was at (or get any to take home.. stupid security guards at the barriers wouldn't let me through. oh well.). I really hope they keep the butterflies. I think most of all though I'll miss the overall feeling of this tour ... just the spirit of it all. It was so unique and arty and creative and joyful. Oh, I feel all emotional now. I can't wait for the next album, the next Coldplay era... it's going to be a long wait, and I hope that the boys can make the next one as good as this, I'm not sure it can be topped but I have every belief that they will do something as good and the wait will be worth it. :) Where you @ one of the Wembley gigs? Cause last night I had the exact same problem, there was no one handing them out anywhere! :\ Unfortunately I was caught in the rush of the crowd leaving as quickly as they could with my family so by the time I got outside I couldn't get back in because of security and I thought I wouldn't be able to get a copy.. but luckily after I went to the loo I got to the car and there was a copy in the car that someone had kindly given to my dad! Whoever you are lovely person, I am eternally grateful.

Chris seen "jogging" in Barcelona 05/09/09
Haha, I love his striped trousers  Although, I don't think they're really jogging clothes, do you? :laugh3: He's definitely looking less skinny, which is good cause for a while he looked like a rake! Been eating lots of curly-wurlies, Chris? :P

19-Sep-2009: Wembley Stadium, London - Tickets, Previews, Meetups, Reviews/Photos
Hey everyone! :D I'm new here and haven't been very active so far so forgive me for my lack of posts.. I have standing and level 1 unreserved seating tickets for Wembley (going with my parents and brother). I have not been to the venue before. I wondered whether any of you could possibly answer a question for me about the supposed "gold circle?" I have read on this thread several people talking about there being a gold circle. Is there always one for the gigs at Wembley - do you know in advance if there is going to be one? Also, is it true that if there is one that they give out wristbands on a first come first serve basis to whoever gets there and is in the queue earliest before the doors actually open? (sorry I'm so clueless I've never been to a gig with a golden circle) I'm coming down to the gig from Manchester as I'm seeing Elbow there the night before so we're staying in a hotel half way to London and driving down there as early as poss. I hope to be at Wembley by 2-ish as I really want to try and get near the front of the stage. Do you guys think that this is viable if I turn up at this time? This gig is so huge and so many fans are coming from outside of the UK to be there.. so I'm a little concerned that there's going to be a massive queue outside the doors by 9 am and that there's no way I'll get a good standing/level 1 seat if I arrive only 2 hours before the doors open. How early are you all planning to get there? BTW, I'm planning to bring a load of yellow glowsticks and hand them out to people who want them. I think this idea is so awesome, it would be so great if we could make Wembley one massive yellow ball of light. :)

coldplay vs radiohead
:dozey: Well, this should be interesting since this is a Coldplay forum in which you've chosen to put this poll. There do seem to be a lot of post-Coldplay-obsessive-Radioheads around here though, so I guess I shouldn't speak too soon. I vote Coldplay. Yes, I should be ashamed of myself, I know, I know! Except, I'm not - cause I love Coldplay waaaay more, regardless of Radiohead's supposed musical brilliance that puts them in a totally different league. I guess I'm not as musically intelligent as some. Meh. :P

All Coldplay Songs Sound the Same
Because you have no ability to distinguish one piece of music from another. That answer your question? :dozey: BTW, piece of advice: don't call a group of people losers when you your self can bother to creat create threads like this in your spare time with the one purpose of insulting Coldplay and their fans. That technically makes you the loser. :D

U2 singer Bono apologises after foul-mouthed insult of Coldplay's Chris Martin
LOL thanks, I guess. I was hoping I came across to you as more intelligent than a hard lifeless object. :laugh3: And I agree with you, the media is awfully good at doing that and sometimes I get really sick of it. They are totally blowing it out of proportion. I mean, it's not like Bono was being genuinely serious. They're making it out like he said something blampheous. You're right, Perez is a spreader of Coldplay and Chris hate, although here he seems on their side for some reason. But that post was funny none the less. And ITA, it's a jibe not needed in public. The "cretin" comment was taking it too far, IMO. I still don't quite understand why Bono said that. Yes, Chris is a little eccentric and crazy at times.. he's quirky like that. But he was basically called him a retard, and I think Bono should have known better than to to say something of that sort, (affectionate ill-placed joke or not,) on live radio.

U2 singer Bono apologises after foul-mouthed insult of Coldplay's Chris Martin
:shocked2: L-M-F-A-O. :laugh3: :laugh3: Oh, trust Perez Hilton to come out with the truth. I think he's right on the money here: "We think Bono's a little cranky over people calling Coldplay "The New U2"!!! Not ready to give up the "Greatest Band On Earth" title just quite yet???" Bwahaha. :laugh3: BTW: I in no way endorse or agree with what that one poster said about assinating Bono. That's taking things a little far. And neither do I deny the role U2 amongst others played in the creation of Coldplay. That doesn't mean I have the IQ of a rock. Or that I hate every other band apart from them. And I know full well Bono was joking and that he doesn't hate Coldplay. I'm just enjoying the fact that this has made Bono look like a bit of a plonker. And c'mon, he really should have known better, shouldn't he?. ;) He's nearly 50 you know. :P

U2 singer Bono apologises after foul-mouthed insult of Coldplay's Chris Martin
No, it's not an extremely horrific thing being called one, not that I know of. But it's an offensive word used for insulting people, just like most expletives, and is considered generally unacceptable on day time radio. :dozey: :laugh3: I agree with rafa89, I think Bono was just attempting to make a joke but that came didn't go to plan, simple as that. Is it just me or... do I detect a hint of humilation in his voice when he attempts to make up for his comments by saying how much he actually likes Coldplay and Chris's soul? I have to say I felt a little gleefull hearing big-boots-wearing-ego-the-size-of-a-skyscraper-preachy-frontman-of-what-is-considered-by-everyone-as-one-of-the-biggest-bands-to-ever-grace-the-earth genuinely embarassed by his own behavior.. :laugh3: Oh Bono, you silly old man. Please retire after this album with some dignity left intact. (BTW, I'm no U2 hater. They did make some awesome records, just quite a long time ago!)

Do you like coldplay?
LMFAO. Perfectly legitimate. :laugh3: :laugh3:

U2 singer Bono apologises after foul-mouthed insult of Coldplay's Chris Martin
I didn't manage to listen to this part of the live broadcast yesterday but I have to say that Bono really should know better, even if he was making a joke regarding Chris's media status as a w***** Having listened to it now I have to say that when I read what was said in the article at the start of this thread it sounded far worse - the way Bono says Chris is a lyrical genius but no doubt a 'w' is definitely jokey in tone. I was worried it sounded like he was making a serious statement - but he was trying to be funny, albeit in his own slightly-arrogant Bono way :P Jo Whiley didn't sound seriously offended when she asked him to say sorry and I thought she handled the situation very well. Bono kind of laughed anxiously when he realized he'd sworn on live day time radio. He's not the first to do such a thing. I have nothing wrong with that kind of language in the right time and place... and c'mon, Chris himself has quite a foul mouth, I think we all know that. :laugh3: However I do agree with mc_squared: when Jo failed to make Bono actually properly apoligize with the word sorry, I did think his "cretin" comment was unnecessary. Again, it was said in a jokey context but it's not the type of word anyone should use on radio especially someone of Bono's status, maturity and age, though. He should know of the nature of that word. It has a pretty offensive and abusive original meaning to it in it's old world context. He might aswell have called Chris a retard, and that wouldn't have been acceptable on broadcasting. Again Jo said sorry for any offensive caused, in a pretty lighthearted way, so it was all in good spirit. I think that I can forgive him though since he did backtrack on his comments by saying something genuninely nice about the band and Chris: 'I think they are a great band and actually, it turns out he’s a great soul as well. 'Sorry about that. I was just joking entirely.' I doubt Chris really was offended. And I think Bono may have realized he made a slight fool of himself so. ;) Looks like Bono's feeling seriously threatened by Coldplay these days, huh? :smug:

The Coldplaying Army
*shyly pops head round the door* Hi guys, newbie here. :shy: I'm Amy btw. :D I'd love to be part of the army... I find great pleasure in kicking the shit out of teh haters, afterall. :P I think this man needs to be added to the hit list. Don't you think? Warning: This article may make you very angry.. it certainly had me fuming and shouting expletives. http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/michael_deacon/blog/2009/02/19/coldplay_get_no_brits__and_no_sympathy

The BRITs 2009 Thread
I agree with you totally, I think you hit the nail on the head with the whole success thing. Once people become too famous and successfull over here, we Brits seems all-too-eager to turn on them. Which IMO is just pathetic... shouldn't we be supportive of them.. proud and pleased for them and our country's talent? Especially when they're as likeable as Coldplay. And like you said, we love rooting for the underdog. I wouldn't be suprised if the judges choose others over Coldplay just because they didn't want to vote for the biggest band that already have had their fair share of awards. It makes sense, but at the end of the day, Coldplay still deserved to win regardless of all that. Because like you said, I also feel that VLV as a record is sheer brilliance and was definiately deserving of single of the year. It's in a COMPLETELY different league to Girls Aloud manufactured vacuum pop. And VLV as an album has prooved that Coldplay can grow and enhance themselves.. they still sound like Coldplay, only they have a whole new layer. Even some of the least-likely critics admitted to this in their reviews of the album. In sheer musical depth and variety I'd agree with you that VLV is their best yet. Therefore the Album of the Year title should have been theirs... and I just can't see why the voters didn't see it that way. :\ I just found this blog article from The Daily Telegraph online: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/michael_deacon/blog/2009/02/19/coldplay_get_no_brits__and_no_sympathy - All I can say is, what a plonker. I'm speechless, seriously. And he thinks he's a music critic, does he? Some taste mate! Argh, people like this make me so mad. :veryangry2:
