  1. Ohhhh where is this catalogue I want to see it I want to see it!! The excitement is killing me. :bomb: I don't think I have a chance in hell of winning anything but if only I had money. :bigcry: Not fair... hoping to bid on something really little. I wonder how much the smallest items will go for... I don't think even the posters will be described as cheap when the auction ends.. it is all for charity afterall. Oh well I guess I shouldn't complain too much... I am going to Exeter for the Christmas party and should feel extremely lucky anyway! :nice:
  2. awqujtegrujty!! Listening to BBC Radio 1, they just played CP's cover of "Have yourself a Merry little Christmas" from the live lounge. Gives me the tingliest warmest feeling inside... I'm not a Tennant fan (as in I'm not in love with him like many girls are... lolol) but this has made me have more platonic love for him, hehe. :nice:
  3. Dear Chris Martin, If I could just invent a time machine and go back to 2000 when you were only 4 years older than me and had just appeared on that deserted beach in an anorak with that adorable cheeky grin, I would become one of your very first groupies, wait to meet you after every gig, and make damn well sure that you fell in love with me. I don't quite know how I'd do that, as you're married to a super-skinny blonde movie star and I'm a slightly-chubby, somewhat short brunette. But I'd manage it somehow. This way, you'd never meet Gweneth, and I'd get to have your babies and be called Mrs. Amy Eloise Martin. Oh, if only I was Dr. Who's assistant. I'd be married to the sexiest, cutest, dorkiest-in-the-most-lovable-way, funniest, most talented singer-songwriter in the world. P.S. As their is no such thing as time travel, and your married... could you possibly persaude Guy to let me have his babies instead? He's not quite as cute or funny as you, but he sure is flaming HOT. Not to mention his deep brown eyes and Scottish accent make my ovaries quiver. Love, Amy
  4. Aww, thanks! I'm glad to know someone feels the same way in here. :nice:  :dozey: LMAO back at ya! To say Chris's lyrics are meaningful is just an opinion. I think those lyrics you've used as an example against my quote do hold meaning, cryptic or not. Fix You holds emotional meaning, because it's about grief and heartbreak and wanting to mend things. 42 has meaning because it's about life and death and how when people you've known are gone they're no longer here any more but they're still "living" in your head through your memories of them. As someone else said, Coldplay's lyrics can be interpreted differently by everyone and it's up to the listener to make their own interpretation of some of their lyrics. But I find that part of Chris Martin's lyrical charm. He writes songs that stay with people and have a distinctive feel to them. I'm not saying he's the best music writer in the whole entire universe, but their songs "mean" something to an awful lot of people, and that makes their music meaningful, regardless of whether they all make complete sense. Yeah, so there are plenty of critics who call them wishy-washy, cliche, bland, etc etc. The list of descriptions could go on forever. But really, it's pointless to try and get someone to see things the way you do when they have different taste. Music is all about your personal likes and interpretations, and some people will never understand or feel the pleasure that others have from listening to Coldplay. That hasn't stopped millions of people buying their records and becoming devoted fans. *applauds* Great question. I think you'll find their is no point, other than for Yossarian to gain attention and feel a sense of self-satisfaction at taking the p*** out of the band this forum's dedicated to without being banned and both infuriating and amusing others. Quite pointless, and rather immature - a lot like his motives to keep posting here, regardless of him stating that he hasn't listened to Coldplay's music since he was 14 and no longer likes them. ;) Some people just have too much time on their hands don't they?!
  5. Eh, nothing new there then. I remember when he had a go at the band last year. What a complete and utter arrogant narcissistic jealous prick. Sorry if I offend anyone, or sound lame, but, I mean, was he off his head when he said this stuff?! The UK "need him to tell them what's what"??? W-T-F. We don't need him to tell us anything thankyou very much. Coldplay's record sales and staduim filled tour speak for themselves. :dozey: "That’s not me being awfully grandiose about it, but you need to get some sensibility together here." Um, actually that is being awfully grandiose. Wow, what an idiot. I think that quote right there pretty much proves this man knows nothing about music. "Rockgod" or not. Is he actually listening to the same music that most of us are? :inquisitive: Pfft, whatever. Looks like Johnny Rotten doesn't want to swallow the fact that Coldplay are bigger and better than he'll ever be. Green envy, me thinks.
  6. LOL. If there was an award for "most pointless thread", I guess this would be the winner. I think it's a given that everyone who signs/signed up here originally LIKED Coldplay. Anyone who no longer likes or appreciates their music wouldn't really bother to post in this section of the forum anymore, or if they do, it would be kinda a waste of time, as you could just go and spend it on a fanforum for a band you did like. (hint hint :dozey: ;)) Me myself, I fell in love with them the first time I ever heard a song of theirs, way back when I was about 12, and although some people may find this lame, they've kinda been the soundtrack to my life. Their music is "embedded" into my memory, and my heart. Some of their songs mean a lot to me personally, because their lyrics really speak out - they've been the ones I've listened to at dark times in my life, and helped me. No other band has touched me in the way they have. Because no other music really can reach where they can for me and I think a lot of other people, IMO. And I don't think any other band will ever be able to replace them in terms of what they mean to me. There aren't any other Coldplays out their. And no, just because I consider myself to be a proper fan, that doesn't mean they're the only band/artist I listen to. I go through fazes when I don't listen to them at all. I worry that if I listen to their music too often, I might get bored of them. Or the songs will loose their meaningfulness. But so far that has never happened - Coldplay are really rare in that I just can't get sick of their songs, and the feeling never fades away like it does with most other popular bands tracks. I still get tingles at hearing the piano on "Clocks", I still want to sing and dance to "Viva La Vida", I still anticipate the "give me love over this" chorus in "Politik" with excitement, "Amsterdam" still gives me a swell of emotion, "Strawberry Swing" still gives me a dreamy effect that makes me think of summer and still makes me want to cry at the last chorus. You get the picture. So yeah, I love Coldplay, still do, and I can't imagine ever not liking them, let alone hating them. When X&Y came out, I was dissapointed with it and I wasn't sure if I'd ever properly love it as an album like all their others. I still find some of the tracks on it boring, but some I adore. And when VLV came out, I actually found myself falling in love with them all over again. Personally, I never understood the hate some people have for them, whether it be their music or the band personally. All I end up thinking is that those people have a dead soul musically. Either that and/or they generally seem to harbour hatred towards Chris Martin because he is supposedly "pompous", writes lyrics that make him "gay" just because they actually have meaning, and dislike the band because they're "posh middle-class boys" and therefore don't deserve their success. And I just feel sorry for them, really. Because that makes you quite sad, tbh. :P IMO, they are a band that make me proud to be British, and they deserve all of their achievements. :nice:
  7. I don't think any of them have real FB accounts. Agree with the ^^ post, they don't actually need them. :P And if they did, they would get completely plagued with friends requests. So they would be completely hidden.
  8. Hehe yeah caffine will keep him up always does. :P No only managed to get a pair but my parents are going to go to dinner somewhere and my brother (who's a big fan of Lily Allen and also loves CP) is going to go with me. And thanks :) I feel so sorry for all the fans... who didn't get tickets but tried.. The fact there are touters on with loads of pairs makes it all the worse, I know how bitterly disappointed and angry I'd of been if I hadn't managed to get some. :\
  9. I don't know Ebay don't seem to care about this sort of thing as much as they should... I just hope they don't get bought by anyone because there's no way I'd pay that money to such idiots, they don't deserve a penny!! I'm not sure yet, I'm driving up with my parents (lucky to have such nice ones, I'm yet to learn to drive just turned 19.. this is kinda a special b-day/xmas present had a tough year with health problems and stuff) and to not make it too expensive I guess will end up driving back after the show, won't be home till the early hours but my Dad likes driving at night lol. Hey well done I'm so happy another one of us is going!! :D  And I know how you feel I was absolutely ecstatic when my tickets went through danced all around my living room screaming haha - I was literally in shock for the rest of the day, it still hasn't really sunk in properly. I get all giddy when I think about it hehe. :D Things like this never happen to me normally either, I never thought I'd be lucky enough to get through even though I was sitting there waiting on the page before 9:30 - I didn't win tixs to the Brixton gig and I didn't dare dream I'd get the opportunity to go to this!!
  10. Oh so your really close then!! I'm driving all the way from West Sussex so about a 4 hour car journey there. :uhoh: I know! I looked on ebay earlier there are 10 pairs of tickets going now :bomb: It's ridiculous, some sellers are asking over a grand for them buy it now!! :shocked2: Jesus they'll be lucky. And none of the money will be going to charity THAT'S for sure  Argh, it makes me so ticked off to think people especially bought them for the purpose of getting more money when so many real fans have missed out on the chance to get them at face value instead of them!! Blergh. They should really have ID on the tickets to stop this, it's just not fair tbh.
  11. Oh wow, I woke up this morning and realised that yesterday wasn't just a dream and I am actually going to Devon in one week to see my favourite band in the whole world with just 499 other people. It still hasn't sunk in yet!!! :bomb: Awesome!! :D Where are you coming from in the UK? And lmao that was lucky... one of my old teachers hated Coldplay too. :laugh3: I was praying for good karma yesterday morning, and I must have had some on my side because I still don't understand how I quite managed to get two tickets... I had tried not to get my hopes up at all. It must be this "Coldplay Karma" you guys speak of, hehe. :D :D I'll be sure to take my digicam with me, will take as many pics as poss for everyone and hoping to get some video as well if that's allowed... I got a sony hd handycam for my b-day in Nov so will come in handy hehe. ;) Wow, I couldn't possibly ask for a better Christmas present than this. Ever. :nice:
  12. Oh I'm so sorry... I know how dissapointed you must feel and I wish I could give you my other ticket. :\ *big hug* What time did you join the queue? Were you on the page at 9:30? I've never bought tickets this way before and I don't really understand how it works... I had the HMV web page open before 9:30 and just as the clock went to 30 minutes past I refreshed on the dot and it then took me to the white queue page and told me I was 100 and 20 something can't remember.. I didn't think I had a chance cause there were only meant to be 100 available! So when it refreshed and took me to the main page I clicked faster than I ever have done in my life, added 2 tixs to the basket literally trembling and panicked because I didn't know how long they hold them for you while you type your details in! I screwed the card details up several times because I was so anxious !! But I wouldn't completely give up on the chance of getting some like politik* said someone might put a pair up for sale. I've printed mine out now, they're going to be kept very very safe haha :D Wow I feel quite literally like the luckiest person on earth right now. I know how special a gig this is going to be and I've never seen Coldplay in a smaller venue... didn't get tickets for Brixton and I was unable to see them in their earlier more intimate days. I know how much the "real" Coldplay fans like everyone here would want to be there, and there's more than 500 hundred of us that's for sure.... Congrats to everyone who managed to get tickets yesterday or today!! :nice: I can not WAIT. :D
  13. Thankyouuuuu. Oh em gee I'm so happy I could literally combust. :D :D
  14. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. I GOT THEM I GOT THEM I GOT THEM. OH MY GODDDD. I was position 100 and 20 something when I first refreshed the page on the HMV site, opened the web page about quarter past nine, thought I'd already lost the chance when it told me my position, was trying not to hyperventilate, waited for the number to go down, literally praying to my computer screen... AND I GOT THROUGH. YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. :D :D :D I've got a pair of tickets!!!! SO SO HAPPY.
  15. :stunned: Oh I hope this is true!! The Daily Mail aren't always correct, but I'm going to let out a sigh of relief anyway. :P I remember Michael Buble did sing in the final with one of the contestants before, Leon Jackson (who won it that year). I think Buble would go very well with Stacey on stage too, voice wise and stuff.
  16. :wideeyed: OH EM GEE. How I hope and pray this article has some truth to it, especially the bit about them focusing more on more raw acoustic tracks (going back to Parachutes...) and playing smaller venues (!!!) :D I couldn't control my excitement at that part, it's totally my dream for such a thing to happen although I didn't believe it ever could now they're so big... it would give us all an opportunity to see them in a more intimate/smaller venue again (as I myself never have..). If this could just be true, Christmas has come early! Yeah, I totally agree with that statement. This IS The Sun - a tabloid newspaper, and they do often make things up/embellish them to the extreme, so... I'd take it with a pinch of salt.. and try to not get my hopes up too much! I do see the part about their next album being released next year as pretty legit as there's been a lot of rumours of a 2011 release and we know they've been working on new material since before the Viva tour ended. (But again, the whole thing with X&Y.) I also think it's probably true the quote about Chris and not wanting the band to become completely alienated from the fans despite their impending rock god status... it's quite obvious to see that that's what the boys do want and their feet are still firmly on the ground. And I love them so much for it. :D
  17. *takes a bow* Thanks! :D I just don't want X-Factor style Coldplay Karaoke. Just, no. Oh dear, I'm really worried Chris is gonna do it now. I guess, as real Coldplay fans, we shouldn't be worried about their "image". Or what people from the outside may think. Because it doesn't change them as a band. They have real talent and are one of the best, most sucsessful British bands. But that's precisely why I don't want them to do it... Is it sad that I think they're too "good" for talent show guest performances?

  19. I totally feel the same way. I mean, I have nothing against Stacey, to me she comes across as a very sweet, down to earth person with not a bad word to say about anybody... yeah she may talk very fast and she can be a bit annoying but I can't dislike her really. I think she does have a voice on her, she can sing softer quieter songs very beautifully but only some songs suite her voice whereas others have made me think she can't sing that well and then I find myself not liking her voice so much because I don't think it's anywhere near Leona Lewis standards. I thought her performance of the Scientist was just "alright" tbh... it wasn't very good. Partly, I think, cause I'm only used to hearing Chris sing it and also cause it has some very high notes that can sound awful when other people sing it depending on their range and stuff. I really didn't like the idea when the first rumour came out about the guys performing on X Factor... especially if Chris was to just come on stage himself to duet with one of the contestants. I know it's kinda useless to be snobby about the whole talent show stuff, and Chris obviously has quite a positive opinion on X Factor at least what with him mentioning it at the UK gigs they did on the Viva Tour and having Simon Cowell appear at the Jay-Z gigs (I remember at Birmingham last Dec he asked the crowd what they thought of it and called us the "c" word when alot of people booed :shocked2: Only in joking Chris stlye lol ). But I can't help feeling that if CP do go on the show, it only cheapens them, you know? :\ Because at the end of the day, X Factor is pop culture instant stardom at it's worst. It is not full of talent, whatever Simon or stupid Loui Walsh say. It's like a parody most of the time. :dozey: And I'm imagining Chris singing with Stacey and it being really I dunno, X-Factor melodramatic... with stupid fireworks and confetti and stuff. And then the British critics being all snarky and rude about Chris. AAAAAH. Please, Chris, say no! The only big rock band that have been on X Factor before is Bon Jovi... the rest of the time it's dominated by the likes of West Life and Boy zone. I can't imagine any other big British band going on it... like Keane. Because X Factor and proper, talented, established bands don't go together. Only if you want to make yourselves look.. I dunno, mainstream. In a, well, bad way. Oh Chris... why must you be so in love with the Simon Cowell empire?? *shakes head* I guess, the only positive is, Stacey Solomon will be happy for the rest of her life. I hope she is, because I'd cut my arm off to be her right now!
  20. I totally feel the same way. 21. EXACTLY my point. End of story me thinks. :D
  22. :sweatdrop: Actually, I was being ever so slightly sarcastic there because it's something people often make jokes about, a rock star that doesn't think it's cool to get drunk all the time :P I know it's not true that he doesn't drink at all. However he doesn't (apparently) drink to excess and if this persons claim was to be 100% true I find it highly unlikely that anything other than a heavily HEAVILY influenced CM would be kissing another woman that even looks like his wife in front of other people, you know? :laugh3:
  23. true angelic emotive (but I'd also say tender, raw, nasal, high, passionate, heavenly, sweet, orgasmic, sexy because come on yes! is totally HOT...) I could go on and on.
  24. Oh, for saint peter's sake (pun intended :laugh3:), it's a complete load of utter tabloid BULL. :dozey:I can't belive anybody would seriously think it to be true... I mean, does anybody really think it could be? Do you think the-strictly-non-alchoholic-drinking Chris Martin would risk kissing another pretty blonde celebrity with such a risk of being seen?!  More importantly, cheat! He's a married man with two beautiful children and a good-hearted man who has more sense than that! I really really hope it's true he's taking legal action as well as Kate Bosworth, false personal claims by lowly newspapers like this deserve to damage them! :veryangry2: It's just embarassing for the people involved and I feel sorry for Chris and Gwyneth coz I'd hate to have tabloid attention like they have. :\ Case Closed!
  25. agree 120%. I don't mind him with short hair, but a buzzcut? Nooo. It's just too short for me and I don't think it suits him best. I love his X&Y era haircut. I can't wait for the curls to be back. :P At Wembley, I was just thinking how his hair is looking particuarly gorgeous, and then he went and shaved it all off. But I love Chris no-matter his hair, hehe. :nice:
