  1. I know! Why is that everyone always seems to turn Coldplay as a whole into "Chris Martin"?!? It gets on my nerves BIG time. It's like, hello! Coldplay is a BAND. Not a one man artist! :\ And you'd expect more from him considering he toured with them and didn't call Snow Patrol "Gary Lightbody"!
  2. :shocked2: How could he say such a thing?!? I'm disgusted! (sarcasm...) I think that is perhaps what he means. He must be a lazy ass. That and the fact that Kings Of Leon may be more of the "merrymaking" sort than Chris Jonny Guy and Will if you know what I mean. :uhoh: I like White Lies. But the lead singer is a bit weird. He reminds me of Pete Doherty slightly. :laugh3:
  3. :( Living without a Starbucks in your own country must suck! I can't imagine it since the first one opened near me in my hometown and ever since I've been in there far too often drinking lattes and muffins and getting fat! I feel sorry for you guys! :/ The coffee shop industry came straight over here from the US because us Brits are always the first ones to get Americanised... that's about the best thing about living here :P Haha, same here, I was bopping around and finding it very hard not to get up and dance. :laugh3: VLV does that to me wherever I am. Ohhh yeah it does! :nice: I'm such a fan of Starbucks we don't have any other cafe like it in England and it reminds me of when I lived in America for 6 months when I was 12. But I'd never heard them play CP before, so now love it even more. :P
  4. :shocked2: Ohhhhh my those photos by Penny Howle!! They're so amazingly beautiful and atmospheric it makes me want to cry  The first two are just magic... And I love the rainy ones of Chris and Guy! Gah, I feel so nostalgic for that night already... :bigcry: *sighhhh* I hope they do Wembley again. They have to. And I'm already there.
  5. In Starbucks today for breakfast with my Mum, sitting reading newspaper and thinking of taking my iPod out of my bag... and then VLV comes on! And I have to control myself cause it's the first time I've heard it in a coffee shop, actually the first time I've heard any Coldplay song played in one! Have to stop myself singing cause there are other people being serious on their laptops and stuff, but can't help joining in with the "ooooo oooo ooo's" right at the end quitely. I'm such a CP dork and I don't care! :laugh3: :P
  6. :laugh3: Bwahaha! What a f-in awesome idea, I thoroughly support it  Would be great to have all the proper Coldplay fans and appreciate-ers in the best seats and nearest to the stage. That whey we can all have a proper good time without the incorrect-lyrics-singing-drunken-shouting-beer-and-cup-throwing-i-LOVE-this-song-what's-it-called-oh-yeah-when-i-ruled-the-world idiots! :P I love it! We should definitely suggest ;) :smug:
  7. :shocked2: :shocked2: WOW, that is freaking fantastic!!!!!! It's so beautiful I want it on my wall! :dead: I'm jealous of your talent. :D
  8. Ohhh I want that Calendar, there selling quite a few on Ebay UK side at the moment going to buy one for Christmas :D OMG! :shocked2: That photo is fantastic!! I love Flickr. :)
  9. He really doesn't does he! (And to include Guy in not being as handsome as the members of Take That...? How could he?! :shocked2: )
  10. Bwaha, seems like no one outside of Britian has heard of this named-after-a-rodent half pint. :P He's only 18 and quite new to the mainstream music scene. I actually quite like the stuff he's done so far, it may be kinda lacking in depth but his songs are so darn catchy!! I'm not sure though that I like the idea of him collaborating with Chris or CP. Don't see it happening anytime soon either! But it's nice to hear he has love and respect for them, esp coming from his type of musical background, makes me appreciate him more! :)
  11. I've been waiting to get some of Chris's bracelets for soooo long since they're quite expensive and I'm finally going to order some as a present for my 19th Birthday. :D I'm hoping they'll come in time cause from what I've read it can take up to 2 weeks for them to arrive? I think I'll choose the multicolour. So does that mean your guaranteed to get a variety of colors or could you just get one color? Can you tell them which you would like to definitely have included before ordering? Sorry for the questions. :nice:
  12. OMG! All your photos are seriously amazing! :stunned: I especially love these three! :nice: Will smiling!!  Just seen this for the first time on Youtube you guys have probaly all already seen it but it's amazing quality video of Chris singing Hardest Part/Postcards from far away when he messes up the words. :D I loved this moment. And his little joke at the start about the people at the back not having to worry about not being able to see them. "we're not quite as handsome as Take That" The memories are coming back now! *sigh* <3333 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb0GKuFeP9c&feature=related]clickie![/ame]
  13. I completely know how you feel because I'm the same age as you and that's exactly how I felt when I went to my first CP concert in December last year!! I'd loved their music since I was 12 and my Dad first bought Parachutes but I'd never got the chance to go to a concert because in the Politik period my parents thought I was too young to go to music concerts and also the tickets were so expensive that my Dad would have had to pay for me and my family to go too and then when X&Y came out I missed the chance to get tickets and I just didn't end up going to any gigs until I was 17. :( And so when I finally got tickets to see CP for the first time I was so excited and obv had high expectations from the gigs I'd seen clips of on TV and listening to the 2003 from Sydney album. And when I actually went it was kinda a let down cause I'd only managed to get seats very high up in the stadium and we were next to a bunch of 30+ boring old idiots that either didn't bother to clap or sing or anything or sung the lyrics to the only tracks they knew loud and incorrectly! I just couldn't understand it, where were the real fans? There only seemed to be any right in the best seats at the front. So the atmosphere was kind of ruined near us and it's hard to enjoy it as much as you thought you would. :\ Then I was lucky enough to get standing tickets for Wembley in September and although it was a fantastic night and the atmosphere was amazing I had set my heart on getting in the pit area near the walkways but although when my brother and me got through you could still get pretty close we decided to give up because we knew we wouldn't be able to get out again in the six hours we were going to be standing there without loosing our place because it was filling up so quickly. So later when we tried to get through in the interval before Jay-Z I felt really p'd off with the amount of people in the pit who did not to me seem like real Coldplay fans but just idiots wanting to mess around with their beer and shout. There seems to be a big problem with people like that at British gigs. I went to a Keane gig and it was the same. They were all rude and not very nice and weren't real fans at all! I mean, some of them tried to throw their beer cups on to the stage and attempt to hit one of the band. So stupid and immature. Although in the end we did get good level 1 unreserved seats pretty near the stage the people we were with couldn't be bothered to sing to most of the songs and I felt out of place being so enthusiastic. It kind of puts a damper on things. But in the end it didn't matter too much cause it felt like the majority of the stadium was singing along, especially the front of the pit (where I wish I'd been!). But I know what you mean cause it's kind of sad, it makes you feel like alot of those fans from back when CP were smaller aren't there any more or something. I would cut my right arm off to go back in time and be at one of their more intimate gigs. If only I had been 5 years older than I am. back in 03 :( My dream is to see them in a smaller venue next tour, but that depends on whether they do any in my country that it's possible to get tickets for. I think the live from Sydney DVD concert looked like an exceptionally good gig crowd wise, it was just such an appreciative audience!
  14. omg amazing pics wichapi! :stunned: They're great, especially the Guy ones! Hee, I love smiley Guy! He smiled alot I remember. They were all in such a good mood at the end, you could see they were all blown away by the response of the crowd. I remember when Chris sometime towards the end was talking in Johnny's ear and I'm pretty sure he was saying something to do with how amazing it all was. oooh that video silver.lining you were so close... now I wish I'd got to the pit earlier :bigcry: And I miss those goosebumps too. :bigcry: Oh to re-live that night.
  15. Can anyone possibly send me some spare butterflies? I don't mind where from and I'd pay for postage if needed. :) I was at the Wembley 19th Concert but ended up sitting in unreserved seats instead of the pit and so at the end couldn't get through to get some and I was so sad as I knew it was my last chance to get some. :( The concert I went to before that I had seated aswell. I'd be so grateful!!
  16. Agreed. :D (imo!) Chris is hot in everything and anything. ITA. He's not "nothing" without Coldplay. :\ You have to realise that without the rest of the band their songs aren't going to sound as good with just Chris. He does better solo on the acoustic versions with just him and the guitar or piano.
  17. Omgomgomgomg the hair! It's all gone!?!? :( Oh no, the beautiful curls are no more *weeps* *composes self* I've always preferred Chris's hair mid length. Like it was in September when they did Wembley, I think that suits him best. I'm not sure if it's just me but I think when he has it all shaved off it makes him look older, dunno why. :\ He looks more youthful with it longer. I don't fancy him half as much this way, he's just not Chris without the curls! Well we all know he'll let it grow back. :D Haha, I love his attempt at formal suit attire. :laugh3: The bow tie! Never seen him in one before. The waist coat is very Justin-Timerlake. :P And the Adidas sneakers don't go with it at all. But it's kinda a shock seeing him on stage without the soldier viva uniform. I miss it. Alot! Gah, just hit me that that that's all over. No more costumes. I'd kinda got too used to them. Lmao, just realised Alica Keys looked truly awful. Bad wardrobe choice. She does look like a rubbish bag. :laugh3:
  18. Off topic but.. omg your sig lolz :laugh3: ITA, that too is my biggest issue with them. They've become so massive now they're just too popular. Not that that's their fault, and they deserve the succsess in every way, but in some respects it is a negative.... like the fact that they are, especially Chris, celebrities and that makes it almost impossible to meet them in a non-stalkerish way (like hanging around near the Bakery for days ). They no longer greet fans after gigs because they're so big. I mean, it makes you sad, cause if you were like me and didn't go to one of their earlier concerts you've kind of missed the chance now. :\ I'm not a "viva bandwagon fan" myself as I've listened and loved their music since I was about 12. But not all viva bandwagon fans don't know shiver or trouble cause there are some here you know! :P I too hate those people who claim to be Coldplay fans but in reality haven't heard any of their songs past X&Y era and haven't actually listened to those albums. The two CP gigs I've been to so far, it annoys me so much when your near people that don't remember the lyrics properly and just want to slop beer around and half correctly sing Viva La Vida and Fix You. Gets on my nerves so much cause their tickets should have gone to someone who truly appreciates the band, as in takes the time to listen to their music properly before paying £40+ to go to their concert.
  19. omg this is so so cool! Just look at the other classic albums AROBOTH has been chosen with... just goes to show. :D I think that there should be some kind of Coldplaying project to send stamps to every non-british Coldplayer who wants them. I'd be happy to send some. :)
  20. I don't like it that I can never find any posters in the shops in England! sad3 At least, not near where I live. It's sooo annoying, you can only order them online and even then there aren't many. Every other big band has so much more! The only thing I don't specifically like about Coldplay? Umm, that's really hard as I love everything about them. Apart from perhaps A whisper... and Chinese Sleep Chant. But really, I don't dislike anything. :D
  21. I ♥ the Viva Pebble! So pretty...
  22. loveintechnicolor replied to a post in a topic in Coldplay
Oook this is really embarassing because it shows how obsessed even my subconcious is but a few weeks ago I dreamt that I was in a shopping mall with Chris Johnny Guy and Will  We were in a clothes store and I remember Chris was clowning around and I was laughing so much at him and feeling like a totally in love fangirl  He was taking clothes off hangers and he found this puffed coat he was being silly with. And then Guy (who looked extremely hot.. :wideeyed:) was looking at stuffed toys. I guess my brain got the inspiration from the South Bank Show when Guy was going shopping. :laugh3: The only other thing I can remember from it was hugging Chris at some point. Oh I wish my subconscious didn't love taunting me like that but it was fun. :P
  23. I couldn't agree with this more. :( IMO Coldplay have become too commercial now. Post AROBTTH, it felt like they started to try much harder to appeal to the masses. They were already collecting a massive fanbase by this time, and were becoming ever more popular - but to me it seemed like they were trying to hard. You know what I mean? I do love some of the songs from the X&Y era - I adored Fix You (regardless of it now turning into their most-overused mass sing along party piece), The Hardest Part, Swallowed in the Sea etc. and some of the B-sides and still love them today - but I do feel that with that album they started to loose some of the edgy-ness they had developed with AROBTTH... I felt AROBTTH was much more emotionally raw and complex. There B-sides then were in.credible too. IMO they've never made another A rush of blood to the head or Amsterdam. There wasn't one song to rival them on X&Y or VLV. X&Y's songs were generally more simple, catchy tunes. I felt alot of the tracks sounded same-y and the lyrics were not as engaging. I also totally agree that Chris's vocals changed post AROBTTH - his voice became more clear, his singing style slightly changed. I preferred it pre-X&Y. I mean, why? You can definitely hear the difference and it's not cause he's just grown older. I think he used to experiment more with his voice. Some of their very first stuff from the Safety EP I can't help being reminded of Radiohead. I could not say that I dislike the new Coldplay. I love everything they've done the new and the old. They're still Coldplay and they're still amazing. VLV is brilliant in it's own way; I fell in love with them all over again when it came out. I owe this album to becoming a true Coldplay fan! Viva La Vida as a track may be considered "pop-y" by some but it's still a musical masterpiece. I've listened to it so many times it must be in the hundreds but I'm still not sick of it. The lyrics are great. Life in Technicolor l is proof that they've grown to a new musical level - they don't need lyrics to create something beautiful. Lost! may also be more pop-y and bold, it's an easily memorised anthem; everyone can sing along to it in their big shows... but it's such an upbeat joyful song and I love that about it. In fact, that's really what I love most about the VLVODAAHF album - it's got a lot of soul, it's really colourful and uplifting and I love the theme of life and death. The songs embody the title. It feels like a celebration of life - the pain, the loosing, the fighting, the love. I couldn't say that they've lost the emotion in their records that I find hits me in a way only Coldplay can because every VLV track effects me in some way. I mean Death and all his friends, Strawberry Swing... the first time I heard those tracks they made me want to cry just like Amsterdam and Politik and ROBTTH and Yellow... But I think that most of the VLV tracks are very accessible to everyone even if your not a proper fan - and this is why Coldplay have now become mainstream. They're more accessible than ever. This in a way is a negative thing. It can make them feel they're lost some of their musical integrity, the delicateness of some of their earliest records. The trouble with a band like Coldplay who have become so successful and gained such a massive fan following is that it is almost impossible for them to keep the old feeling of intimacy when it comes to gigs. They're there to please the people in their thousands, they're no longer able to just play little venues with smaller audiences. They're in such high demand and the music they make is influenced by that because they need stadium rock fillers to sing to the thousands. With their latest tour, they've kept the most popular crowd pleasing songs from their past albums - Yellow from Parachutes, Clocks, In my Place and Politik from AROBTTH. They kept to the same setlist each time. When a band is smaller, it's not quite the same as they can be more spontaneous. I feel that because they're so big now, their shows are just that, a show that has to be as big as possible. Although I love the energy of the whole VLV image with the outfits ect.., I prefer more subtle Coldplay and I don't like how commercial they've become. Thing is, they're so big now, it's impossible for them not to be. :\ I'm really sad that I was not following them in their Parachutes era and I never got to see them on their Politik tour as I was only 13 and hadn't got into them yet. It makes me feel depressed to think I missed the chance to experience the Coldplay I love most - their earlier work is my favourite and I dream of watching them play some of their younger stuff from Parachutes. To think I missed the opportunity to ever hear Amsterdam live... I don't quite understand why they won't play some of their oldest stuff because their proper fans love it and remember it all. But I suppose it's proper because they feel they have moved on from their old stuff. I think that when they were making X&Y they were worried about not evolving musically, changing, moving forward. Bands feel they have to produce something different from the last or they risk going stale and creating the same songs all over again. They have to move forward. Chris doesn't believe they've ever made anything good enough to deserve the title of "best band in the world today" but I think AROBTTH is one of the greatest albums of all time! We have to accept that they won't stay the same and things will change. Although I think that X&Y actually was not half as good as AROBTTH, with VLVODAAHF Coldplay have definitely evolved musically. They're still Coldplay, but they've added another layer to themselves. I love how they experimented more with different instruments etc... The different musical influences and backgrounds. I think that the next album will take them in a different direction again. No album of theirs is the same, they all have different flavours. I'm hoping that with the next album, it will have more of a AROBTTH feel to it. But of course different at the same time. So, yeah, I like both and voted so, but if I had to choose I'd say old. ETA: ooops.. didn't mean to rant like that sorry.
  24. What an awesome playlist... and finishing with Amsterdam just perfect. So glad we won it!! :D Thanks guys... :nice:
