  1. This is one of the most negative, angry threads I have ever seen. Everyone here should do yoga or something. Breathe. I realize the mods here have difficult jobs, and everyone here has about an equally fair point. I don't think Nathan (IF he was banned specifically over this) should be banned over the discussion going on here. Just my two cents. That being said, you mods do work very hard and put a lot of effort & love into this forum. Thank you. (By the way, I think if you added up all the "just two cents" on this forum, you would have... like, probably a dollar. Which actually isn't very much, so nevermind.)
  2. O.o waiit, where did spying come into this? Assuming they weren't twenty miles away from China, these WERE international waters. The Law of the Sea is that international waters... well, they don't belong to any nation. All it was was a little brush between two countries. It could well have just been showing off a little on China's part. And have you guys paid attention to the fact that this was an UNARMED VESSEL with a CIVILIAN MERCHANT crew?? Why would a Navy ship try to harras something like this? Unless they're just showing off their guns, or something. As to the question "why would the U.S. do ocean surveys near China?" there are dozens of reasons (most of them are peaceful science-related ones.) Again, international waters. China is obvoiusly just reminding the U.S. that they could probably fight them if they wanted to. That's international politics for you.
  3. I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to understand the lyrics... if you were, they might have been clearer. I think it's more of... (somewhat) random sounds with connotations you create yourself (obviously he says sleep alot, which has its own connotations) but depending on how you feel or what you think they are, they sound different. Like, if you read two different versions of the lyrics while you're listening to the song, your brain sort of fills in the unknown gaps and it sounds exactly like the lyrics either way (try it, this is also the case in some of those vids on YouTube with the music played backward and the lyrics of whatever the person thinks it is playing while you listen.) I think it's supposed to be ambiguous. This post didn't make much sense, sorry. Here's what I think it sounds like anyway: Oohh, ooohh Ooh Fall asleep Tryin to dream Sleep satisfied Sleep satisfied Fallin asleep, Fallin on me, Sleep satisfied, Sleep satisfied, Sleep, sleep, Sleep, Sleep sleep, Sleep satisfied, Sleep satisfied, Fallin asleep, (fallin asleep) Fallin asleep, (fall, fallin asleep, deep) Sleep, the best of night, (?) Sleep, the best of night, (? again) Fall, fallin asleep, (fallin asleep) Fall, fallin asleep, (deep) Sleep, the best of night, (?) Sleep, the best of night, (?) Fall, fallin asleep, (sleep) Fall, fallin asleep, (deep) Sleep satisfied, Sleep satisfied, Sleep, sleep, Sleep Sleep, sleep, Sleep satisfied, Sleep satisfied (Ooh) like I said, I think it's supposed to be ambiguous though.
  4. Very silly, not very good test. The questions were really, stupidly vague. One of the questions was, "Do you think blind patriotism is a good thing?" ...I'm pretty sure the answer to that by almost everyone is NO. Vague questions = automatic fail. It's very silly. If you can't tell what political views you have yourself, you probalby shouldn't vote in elections anyway...
  5. oooh exciting. Of course, Nashville is 2-3 hours away, and my parents probably aren't going to drive down there so I can see a concert. But if they come again next year, I should be able to drive down there. Or, maybe not. interesting, at least.
  6. Yeah, they may be unified in their economic trade and millitary support and so on, but if you really think France and Spain (or anybody and anybody, especially in Europe; it doesn't have to be those two) are going to join together in one fell swoop... well, it's just a silly thought, imo. Yeah, the independence movements are caused by politicians. Who do you think runs the world? That's right, it's politicians. And most politicians aren't going to decide to join up with a buddy country (without fighting it); if some politician IS thinking that, they aren't going to be reelected. There aren't any countries in Europe that are going to give up their individual sovereignty to become part of a U.S. of Europe. They can be nice to each other, sure, but they've had their cultural, language, religion/whatever differences for hundreds of years. They aren't going to just throw those away and decide to join hands and make Franco-Spain (or whatever two countries you're thinking of.) The only countries in Europe I can think of ever getting back together MAY be some of the Yugoslavic one, at that may or may not be for peaceful reasons. And I'm sorry if I'm judging your continent. It's just the way it seems to be to me.
  7. ^Cobalt, you are a very smart person. Good job. And I agree. The cyanide & happiness thread has almost the same content, so.
  8. This isn't going to be pretty. BTW, I like how everyone is ignoring me.
  9. people, leave him alone. he's just cynical. it doesn't mean he has a messed-up head or anything ... :/
  10. Whoever photoedited that phailed at high school photoshop class. as I remember there was an animal in Zoo Tycoon 1 that made that animation when it was swimming... or I've seen it somewhere, at any rate.
  11. ^Peter, psychoanalyzing him is probably not a good idea... just saying before this gets anywhere..... >->
  12. Actually a lot of countries, while not precisely "huge fans," do associate with and evidently would stand by America if/when the next World War occurs. The reason China isn't America's hugest fan is because they are a (supposedly) communist nation. But they wouldn't fight the US because we buy all our shit from them and they probably would have even more of an economic meltdown than the world is currently having without us. It's a pretty tenuous relationship (like most international interactions.)
  13. ^see most of your posts are grounded on some sort of reasonable/semi-reasonable basis, as opposed to the one above me. probably why you aren't banned.
  14. you mean this forum is like your stress releiver? I started swimming competitively as a stress reliever... sports are good for that, especially individual ones, if your stress is caused by other people. and if that's not what you meant, I probably just made an idiot of myself. but I've done that before, so it's ok. edit: That's also true, no one is the same on forums, no matter how hard they try. Anonymity does that.
  15. I try :D and you're right about IQ tests. I had an IQ of somewhere in the hundred-teens when I was seven... and I wasn't actually terribly smart, just observant. However, there are no really truly accurate ways of measuring intelligence because you can't actually define it properly. Intelligence has dozens of aspects to it that are almost impossible to gague. :/ but you're a smart person. just not necessarily the nicest.
  16. ^If it makes you feel better, I think you at least have an IQ above that of a frog, unlike certain other people. Even if half of your posts are so unrelevant it's not even funny.
  17. China isn't really America's hugest fan. However I would be shocked if this was an actual attempt at violence or something. China isn't ruled by morons.
  18. Nachos. Yes, they were delicious, tyvm. :D
  19. I would love to do that for free. Actually, I would pay to do that. :P She gets on my nerves. Would you spend a year of your life in... an Indian rug shop the size of a Home Depot? :D
  20. Joy. ...well I have nothing to talk about now.... :/ so......how was your... day?
  21. ^^Agreed with both. In fact, if you've been, I don't know, paying attention the past thirty years, (:P) the trend is toward more fragmented states... see Yugoslavia, Africa, etc. Actually part of Canada (Quebecois, I believe) is trying to break away as well... all the remaining large countries (with the exception perhaps of the U.S.) are really starting to break apart. To say that they'll just start reuniting is kind of silly. It doesn't have to happen like it did in 1984...
  22. ^ Don't worry. Sometimes I feel the same way. :P
  23. I only say "freaking" when I wish to refrain from saying "fucking." That being said, my English techer WOULD fucking kill you if... etc. :P And I have no clue about the rest of the s' we use... wait! would that be s' s's or ss? :dizzy:
  24. @ Saffire ...however you have enormously increaded trade, economic, and political power in Europe. Helpful if you happen to be there. @ Peter: actually Turkey is getting better at the whole human-rights thing :P and how does Britain torture people?
