Well of course any song is better if you understand it. A Rush of Blood to the Head is a very obvious metaphor for a sudden impulse, and the whole album sort of goes along with the idea that Coldplay got a rush of blood to their heads in learning that perhaps we don't live in a beautiful world, and that there is bad in the world. The album reflects that in its message of a mix of personal happiness as well as seeing many things wrong with the world.
