LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
I think it’s just they wanted to make shorter songs. They’ve made it clear they’re no longer trying to win affection or popularity. They’re making what they want to make.

That’s the opposite of what the song is about.

But there’s only one interlude, so there’s 15 full songs.

Orphans - Sunset
As I said on Reddit earlier today, Orphans is about as close to perfect indie pop as you can get. Unlike MX, Ghost Stories and AHFOD, the pop Orphans carries just sounds so damn clean. It’s true to itself and doesn’t try to create a phony level of emotion in a song that carries a bittersweet message. My biggest complaint for me currently is that it feels too short, like something’s missing. That, and there are two very clear mixing errors at the beginning and around 1:46. I hope they’re fixed by next month.

Arabesque - Sunrise
I feel the same way. Their lead singles have long been accurate depictions of the album as a whole, and today’s songs brought me so much more anticipation than what I was expecting. They’re entering an entirely new creative stage of their careers.

Arabesque - Sunrise
Has there been an era that’s signaled such an artistically drastic turn as Everyday Life has brought so far? Arabesque is absolutely mind-blowing, and I should clarify just the thought of listening to Arabesque again and again and again gets me all riled up. It’s bold, it’s full of energy and life, and it doesn’t hold back on message or sound. The band has done what longterm, new and non-fans assumed was in the past: reinvention. I’m absolutely fucking giddy for the album.

Absolutely. I’m psyched for what seems like a political undertone album-wide. They’ve slightly addressed this on occasion, but now it seems to be their *theme*. I love it.

Woah, I missed a lot. Cannot wait for this to release. I’ve wanted them to do a double album for a very, very long time.

There’s zero chance they’re making a global marketing campaign for a reworked compilation album. It’s new material, I promise you.

Having Timbaland produce one song doesn’t mean the album isn’t experimental.

There are so many holes in his story that I have a hard time believing the majority of what was said. One of my favorite all-time mannerisms by ‘leakers’ is when they reveal details about an album or a song in detail only after something else had come out publicly. In this case, Kirboh acted as a mysterious figure last week when posted the alleged tracklist, but then spent hours on a Discord server answering nearly every question he was asked after the poster was revealed. Why the sudden change in personality? Better yet, Kirboh spent more time being like “lol I was right fuck you” than trying to give proper clues. And, speaking of the clues, they all followed the information the poster revealed. He could certainly be correct, but it just seems too well timed to have him suddenly dive deep into what to expect.

Love the teaser! It certainly seems to fit the mold that the album will be more experimental, or at least a change from their last few albums. I’m really, really curious to see what sound they’re going for next.

[2017-08-17] Soldier Field, Chicago, IL
After five years of trying, Thursday marked the first time I was able to see Coldplay twice on the same tour. Last year in St. Louis was the first - and I'll never forget it - but Chicago's open-air experience completely and utterly changed my perspective of the tour. I was sitting near the back-left of the field, and our view was considerably better than what I was expecting. My girlfriend had never seen them before, which meant I was trying to 'show off' them to her (even though she likes them a lot already). For the most part, my section was pretty mild and not doing much more than standing on the chairs, but at some point, everyone spilled out into the open areas and it turned into an amazingly cool little dance party. Now, mind you, I have had to make myself stop following the setlist (even though I know what'll be played), which meant I was trying to pinpoint exactly where the band would be for the C-stage. I vividly remember the C-stage being in the lower stands in St. Louis, and I knew they followed the same rule for most of the arena shows, but I wasn't thinking in a 'stadium mentality.' So, I'm running all over the field with my girlfriend saying, "THEY'RE TOTALLY GONNA BE RIGHT HERE! Just wait until you hear everyone scream and that's where they are!" Well, me being me, I hear the crowd behind us yelling and think, "Oh, they must be running around the crowd!" Nope. Instead, they were two sections over from my seats. We immediately ran back to the area everyone was crowded around in and we fought our way in to see them up close and fucking personal. The band was probably no more than 20 feet in front of us. Sure, In My Place is tired, but I didn't care at that point. I just stood there in awe and sang along. At some point some girl tried to stand on top of a chair directly in front of my girlfriend, so she goes, "UM, NO." and said girl looks at her all sorry-like, apologizes and moves over a bit. I'm so damn glad they played GPASUYF over Birds (even though it's in my Top 10 Coldplay songs), and I'll be the first to confess SJLT is considerably more enjoyable when you're seeing it in-person. The open-space-turned-dancefloor only grew as the night went on, despite the small amount of rain. One of my favorite moments was when Chris restarted Charlie Brown and told everyone to put their phones down and just focus on the show for one song. People went wild. The same happened with the abundance of messages for unity, love, and peace throughout the show. I think he speaks for most everyone when he talked about Charlottesville and Barcelona and all the chaos in the world. I don't know how they do it, but Coldplay manages to pull everyone in even if just for a few hours. It's really something special. I'm sorry! I just saw this. We were in D5 on the field. Great view!

Just bought tickets for my girlfriend and I! Thank God Chicago tickets were cheaper than Kansas City, because I'm beyond excited I finally get to see them at Soldier Field.

Miracles (Someone Special) ft. Big Sean
I agree with all of this. I listened to a few seconds of the live recording but made myself wait until now. I actually really dig it. It blends well and sounds very fresh while still be 'pop'. Well done, Coldplay.
