  1. Hahah I forgot about Will's "manual" work on the album.. maybe that's why it's taking them so long for this one. Like he said "requires a lot of patience"

you can totally hear Chris singing (sounds better than Natalie's version if you ask me) wish we had a version with full vocals..
  3. I don't really care if it is real or fake, it's just a pretty song :)
  4. I think Chris is a really, really good songwriter and he's definitely a much better piano player than guitar player. His guitar parts aren't that technically difficult but they are quite well done. It is annoying sometimes when you want to play Coldplay songs on guitar because he uses soo many different guitar tunings and it's a pain to keep retuning for one song, but the way he plays around with the guitar and tunings is pretty cool. We've never really seen him play lead guitar but I'm sure he could do a decent job with it. Also, about Jonny, I'm not positive about this but I'm pretty sure he's playing an Ibanez guitar which is very interesting to me. I don't know a ton about different makes of guitars but from what I know Ibanez and Fenders (esp. Telecasters) are very very different instruments. Of course you can use effects with Ibanez guitars but I don't know many musicians who play with an Ibanez that use effects for atmospheric sounds.. so maybe Jonny is moving on to a different more direct sound.. just a thought
  5. AHHH!!!!!!!! Lately i've been super down on Coldplay and been all like "they'll neverrrr release an album everrr againn" But this.. this changes everything.
  6. Heartbreak Warfare - John Mayer
  7. I don't think this is exactly what you're looking for but it's a really good version and kinda sorta close and in my opinion think it's sounds rather pretty.. http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/c/coldplay/lovers_in_japan_tab.htm

Signature song as a band is definitely YELLOW but I think they really have got one or more for each album/period of their career Parachutes = Yellow Rush Of Blood = Clocks/The Scientist X&Y = Speed Of Sound/Fix You Viva La Vida = Viva La Vida
  9. I'm with Josh42 on his point about Violet Hill, that was the perfect opportunity to really do something cool but he just ends up repeating that one riff over like five times for his solo. I was pretty happy with it overall though the first time I heard it I was like "Sweet, Jonny can play guitar again!" haha Did he really say that "Strawberry Swing" is the hardest thing he's ever written/played? It's beautiful and perfect for the song but if that's really true then he should probably think about taking some guitar lessons... again like above ^ one of the first songs I learned on guitar
  10. I don't like admitting it, but Jonny is really not that good of a guitar player (or at least he hasn't really proven to us that he is). Like when I try to think of really iconic or good riffs that he's played I first think of Yellow, In My Place and Talk. But Yellow is what like four different notes or something? And In My Place is literally four notes repeated for the entire song and he didn't even write the Talk riff. I know that he isn't about to take an extended solo during songs, I mean Coldplay is not Phish and Jonny isn't Trey, and that's totally fine. I love both bands and their songs are beautiful and work great. But I wouldn't mind a little more creativity with Jonny's solos. Lost! and Fix You are both amazing songs (and the end of Fix You still sends shivers down my spine) but his solos certainly leave something to be desired. I feel like starting with X&Y and certainly on Viva La Vida he's started relying way too much on effects, compared to Parachutes and Rush Of Blood. Maybe I was alone in thinking this, but I was ecstatic when he sold his Telecasters (one because I wanted them haha) and two because there's no better way to reinvent/retool your style of playing than getting all new equipment. And the fact that he's settled with Stratocasters makes me excited to hear what they've been working on and I'll bet it's a big improvement (guitar wise) over what we've been hearing lately. Sorry, that was long haha :)
  11. this is easily the most depressing oracle question that I have ever read :( and I was having a really good day and eveything too...
  12. I would love to see Warning Sign / Gravity / I Ran Away / other random awesome songs, but this is my 'realistic' setlist.. (and run time on it is 1:36:22 according to iTunes, so add some time for encore break and Chris rambling on between songs, probably a little over two hours, which I think is a reasonable length of a concert) Politik A Rush Of Blood To The Head Cemeteries Of London Clocks > In My Place Shiver Trouble (Chris Solo) The Hardest Part (Chris Solo) > Postcards From Far Away (Chris Solo) > Viva La Vida Lost+ (with Jay-Z) Prospekt's March > Poppyfields Glass Of Water Speed Of Sound Violet Hill Strawberry Swing Swallowed In The Sea Lovers In Japan Fix You ---- Yellow > Parachutes The Scientist Death And All His Friends
  13. oo thanks then, i've always played along to the record in standard tuning.. i will admit that i don't always have the best ear for this kind of stuff :)
  14. i really don't mean to come off as rude.. but green eyes is most definitely played in standard tuning (one of the very few that actually is) and there's no capo, live or studio also, check out kapone's tab thread (it's the second post in the thread) http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17813
  15. when i checked the oracle's page this morning and saw the teaser "what is limestone rock" and i knew exactly what the question was about [grammy awards + chris' acceptance speech] even before clicking on it
  16. they're all about the "new" stuff right? New Year's Eve is this week.. maybe New Year > New Website > New Single > New Album > New Tour??
  17. yelloww although green eyes is a tremendous song, yellow never fails to put me in a good mood when i hear it
  18. TheBigC.... you are amazing, this is one of the nicest things ever!
  19. has anyone bought that sheet from music notes yet? if you have what are you thoughts on it? is it worth the $5 or whatever? accurate to what chris is playing??
  20. They covered Fairy Tale of New York (originally by the Pogues) at the O2 Arena back in 2008 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqCHQ5VITLc]YouTube - Coldplay (Fairytale Of New York) O2 Dublin[/ame]
  21. Can I claim "Trouble (feat. Elton John)" or does that not count because someone already has "Trouble"? And how about "Fairy Tale Of New York [Acoustic Live]"? ^ I'm in a Christmas-y mood
  22. double post.. whoops
  23. just a thought... Christmas Lights does have parts that sound a LOT like Wedding Bells but wouldn't that make sense? Chris has said a couple of times that he's working on a "story" idea, so like if LP5 is a concept/story-like album there would definitely be something lyrical or some melody that connects all the songs. Like in Pink Floyd's The Wall there's the melody that they keep coming back to.. and if all these songs were written at the same time with this intended story Chris will be consciously trying to make them similar.
  24. thanks for clearing the CoL thing up, much appreciated, everything else looks really good :)
  25. hate to be a downer, but i'm not too sure about the CoL chords. I'm no expert but it looks like in this video: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2wCDmDOpNY]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2wCDmDOpNY[/ame] Chris has got a capo up near the 7th fret
