Agree with this review a lot more than with the Volkskrant one:P Also considering that coldplay get's almost as much people to their own shows as there were at pinkpop, they really did a lot of good for this festival. And Coldplay is a lot more than just the boys so they've got a lot of people to pay so it's not like the 1.2 mil will just be devided in four:P

They're pretty much lashing out to Jan Smeets (the boss of pinkpop) and Coldplay because Jans Smeets was angry at the Dutch government for shortening on Culture (quite right too, our government sucks at the moment) so they lashed back because he did pay something over a million to Coldplay for playing there, so they felt he shouldn't wine about it. Following that they just trashed Pinkpop & Coldplay, probably mainly as a payback. What they said about the Coldplay performance: 'But when Coldplay finally arrive to the stage, 20 minutes late and there's fireworks in the air already after the first song, you question what makes this band so special. The setlist offers at the right moments a hit, but to often there are awkward silences. Singer Chris Martin doesn't do anything to try to break the deathly routine, and it stays a mystery what the qualities are of the colourless musicians around him. Coldplay is playing in festival mode, with every few minutes a clap-along moment. There's no moment you feel they're making music together.' Well I can't take any review seriously that says Tim Knol was better than Coldplay. I think the person who wrote this just didn't pay attention I didn't notice any awkward silences, nor a deathly routine, and he's clearly deaf if he missed Jonny's guitar, Chris' wit and sillyness, and Will singing and them very much being a band together, having a few songs with them actually standing close together, making music together VERY much (Us against the world). I guess they just can't handle Coldplay being so expensive and that's the only reason they burned them to the ground. Quite sad.

Yeah I noticed it was very quiet during Elbow, with Coldplay I didn't really notice but that's probably because I was at the front:P

I actually like coldplay lyrics. Not necessarily as just lyrics, without the music. But I tend to not read lyrics when I don't have/know the music, just seems kind of pointless, it's a song not a poem, and poems and songs work quite different. I don't see why simple lyrics (which some Cpsongs have) are bad or lazy. I myself am a big fan of repetition in music because it can be really strong, and work very well. I also don't see why abstract lyrics is a problem, I like that as well, because you can find your own meaning in the songs. And lyrics have to work well with a song, and I think coldplay has great songs. I just don't really see the major problem, or the major disappointment. But can people please, please, please not call someone, who works as much as Chris does, lazy, because that's just plain not true. And if you don't like the lyrics that doesn't mean he didn't work hard on it and it doesn't even mean they're not good, it's just an opinion.

Well, I get sometimes that something is so beautiful and so pretty and so amazing and I love it so much that it hurts. I don't know, something can just be so perfect that it hurts. Probably has something to do with the more you love something, the more afraid you are to lose it, and you want it to be closer then it can be. I don't know, something like that probably.

Yeah missed you at the front! Glad you got a good spot anyway! I also thought it was so sad for Elbow, they really got a crappy crowd as everyone was waiting for Coldplay instead, and being squashed at the same time, so not really a chance to rock out to Elbow there. But I was really happy to get in front! And that was just great (can't wait to watch it back!). I so agree with you, it was amazing, and if it was dark it would've been more amazing, because Coldplay's lightshows are always so breathtaking. And I loved ETIAW as a setcloser, it worked really well and the boys did really seem to enjoy playing even though part of the crowd might've been lame.

I agree it's not poetry, but it so happens that poetry, in my opinion, is not always what sounds best on music, so these things just sound good on music, and sometimes that is more important than how the lyrics look without the music. I like the lyrics and I like it even more as a song.

^Yeah, it's kind of weird to start blaming the oracle for being evasive, because the Oracle is here for us because the band thought it would be awesome if we could interact with them in such a way. It's a really nice thing, and the Oracle gets loads and loads and loads of questions so it's a lot of work too, let's just be thankful for what they do.

Very true, at the front we were going nuts, I've jumped all the time and All the guys looked very happy with us indeed! So yeah, at the back people might've been a bit lame, but at the front it was great! And they were amazing!! They really were, I think they were better than at Rock am Ring, and I can't wait to see the high quality video's of it! It was a shame thought that it was still light when they started. But I just, loved it to bits, and loved meeting Coldplayers and being there with Coldplayers!
