The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
^ :laugh3: :laugh3: :laugh3: Oh my god. I should not have laughed that much or that loud at that. I may have woken up my housemates. :uhoh: Your drawing of Matt is the most accurate representation evur. Your accent is also dead neat. Man, I want an American accent :\

Dearest Michael and Violet, I may not have said this often enough... But I love you guys. Seriously. You guys make CP'ing a better place.

Yayyy. We get to hear Michael (finally I can put a voice to the tweets :awesome:) And that's so cool, I'm going to get right on listening to that Violet. It sounds

I would be very torn about it. I've seen Bombay Bicycle Club before, and I don't think anything will be able to beat a 200 capacity venue, in the snow, followed by a snowball fight with them  Whereas I've never seen Brandon Flowers before and I've always wanted to see him (both solo and with The Killers) Yeah, you're probably very right about that. I'm hoping for a Viva repeat in which there should be four dates at least I can go to.

Your favourite 5 bands at the moment... in no order are...

Friendly Fires
^Ohhh it depends on what you're looking for. I find Pala (the second) a bit more pop orientated. Friendly Fires always comes across a little more synth electro vibes. If you want more like Kiss of Life you'd be safer going the debut and then working your way around to Pala I'd say.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
I'm still getting the second-hand and third-hand angry. I will quite happily assist you with your brutality mission because it is a heinous crime I'm just hoping Benicassim doesn't pull something like this and pit Bombay Bicycle Club against Brandon Flowers or something to that effect. Then shit will really get serious. I was thinking about this, you're seeing Muse three times this year... So you could always go to Coldplay and not feel that bad. Admittedly though better bet that you'll be able to see Coldplay this year on tour. (They better tour, I want multiple days in Wembley and the O2 and my bank balance can suffer. MWHAHAHA)

ASIWYFA, Braids, The Antlers and Foster the People? Violet you would have loved The Great Escape festival; they were all playing.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
I major spaz fitted at when I found out Matt said that. I thought it to be really horrible and dismissive. I tried to get tickets to the Saturday. I skipped an exam damnit. It was not my fault that the server in my uni residences was so slow it was nearly impossible to even get on to the site before it sold out. My Mum ended up taking over and getting me the tickets to the Friday. So I was all like 'bitchy Mattchu, I could've failed my first year trying to get tickets, I think that classifies me as a fan. Say whut.' I feel the same about I Belong to You. I've actually taken the album version off my iPod and slipped the Twilight soundtrack version in instead. :shame: I also think that the Uprising outro live is better than what you get on the CD but I think that's a thing to make the live shows a little better and a little more exciting I guess (not that they need to be any more exciting :P) And I'll be joining you with the watching of Reading/Leeds on the TV. My placement runs over the weekend so it's impossible for me to go. Oh, and now I'm moving house that weekend instead so literally my parents are enforcing that I don't go despite my not living with them.

The 9th Mixtape Exchange
^I have all their albums on my shelf, so I think I will take your recommendation. If I remember rightly, they went from some relaxing, alt to synth pop, no?

The 9th Mixtape Exchange
Hi mixtape maker... Sorry this took a while, I've had work, deadlines, revision and a flooded kitchen to contend with since I received it! Track 1: Placebo right? I went through a phase of not listening to anything but ‘Meds’ when my friend first leant me the album… But I never really went beyond that. I think this song is alright, it’s definitely an appropriate mixtape opener. But I don’t think it will make me go and listen to more. Track 2: I love this track! It kicks straight in with the guitars and the drums and what I think might be a tambourine… And it just keeps going that way. I love when songs kick off on this umph and just keep it going. Okay, so there is a little ‘bridge’ in which things mellow out a little which I’m not overly fussed on, but it works in the context of the song. It’s real indie rock at its best. I could listen to this all day. Track 3: Keane- You Haven’t Told Me Anything. Oh gosh, it’s been a while since I listened to the album… Or any Keane in fact. I think I may just have to go and dig them up and listen to them all over again. Track 4: Ohhh hello synths… With guitars? Oh man. I can literally feel myself loving this song without even listening to it too hard. I can see myself dancing and swaying along to this for years to come—because it is a total me track. I also love the vocals on this; like there’s definitely two guys singing together in verses and then in the choruses there’s points where only one person is singing and then what sounds like three. Gosh, this is so me. Track 5: Recognised this instantly. Goo Goo Dolls, and classic at that. Hate this Place (I think) from Dizzy up the Girl (I’m certain of the album at least). I really have a thing from the heavier guitars on this and the way it sounds a little grimy. Unfortunately, I think Goo’s have lost their spark with their most recent offering—which is a sad thing indeed. Track 6: Razorlight!! From when Razorlight was good too. I love this song, I love this entire album and it reminds me of summer and learning to surf (it’s the album my family played the year I learnt to surf in Newquay) so it’s definitely one of those songs. It’s guitary and yet very simple. And Jonny Borrell’s voice at this point is wicked. All this being said, I’m going to give their fourth album a shot anyway. Track 7: QotSA. I am obsessing over these guys so hard at the moment; just because Josh Homme is the ultimate definition of cool and mysterious. This specific song is a killer one because it’s got some real nifty guitar work and it’s not overly heavy or overpowering. Damnn. Track 8: At points I want to say this is Biffy Clyro, but then at other times I have no clue at all because it sounds a little Foo Fighters-ish. I like the way it packs an almighty punch straight off—but then it sort of tones itself down for a long time that I sort of want to fast forward through. But yeah, I stuck with it and I’m pleasantly surprised because it picks back up to this heavy guitar and drumline. I quite like it. Track 9: Red Hot Chili Peppers—This Velvet Glove. Oh gosh, it’s been a while since I listened to any RHCP pre-Stadium Acradium; and I still don’t have a lot of their back catalogue (I do have this song though! :awesome:) I like this song because it feels like such a major contrast. The verses are a little kicked back and the choruses are really not  Right, this has given me the kick up the backside to go and get the rest of the CD’s—thank you! Track 10: Another helping of electronically done synthed up musics. This song is like a complete 1980’s throwback too—not the modern take on the synth revolution, which I really like. It’s extremely catchy too, and it has chemicals and molecules which just made the geek in me squee. Definite thumbs up here. Track 11: Maroon 5, from Songs for Jane I believe. Not that I can put my name on the song right now. Track 12: Is this guy Scottish? He has a really cool intonation on his words—he sounds like a UK Julian Casablancas :laugh3: At first I thought it was a complete change of pace because it starts off very acoustic but then you get the drums and the other guitars. The guys voice is still getting me no matter what though, the lyrics seem to be a little bit like the drunk man in the corner of the bar rambling on to himself. I do enjoy that though. Track 13: This track sounds a little country and a little bluesy I guess. The verses to me drag on for eons and I’m not overly swayed by it. I have to say that beyond the 2 minute mark the song sort of becomes a bit more powerful… Something I could listen to, but I don’t think I would choose to. Track 14: I'm not sure if I quite like the singer's voice on this one because it is so low and deep that it just sort of rumbles in my headphones. However I really like the music behind it-- the guitars are superb and the piano is used sparingly and really in a clever way. So I could quite happily listen to the instrumental version of the track. Or I could do a trade off and listen to the guy just for the music. Track 15: I love the use of distortion on this track. It really makes the track its’ own and a song that could otherwise become repetitive and uninteresting really quickly. All the little added layers of sound also give this a real other worldly sort of sound which I’m also really loving. Want to check out more for sure! Track 16: This track doesn’t immediately grab me, but I really do like the guys voice… So I continued to listen. I’m really glad I did. This is a nice chill out track with a nice acoustic guitar going on. The definition of mellow. Track 17: I’m a little meh with this track. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard the voice before, though I can’t put my finger on it. But yeah, it’s just there. There’s no hook that gets me to listen again. Track 18: A nice closer of a track with another voice I recognise but I don’t know where from. This track is nice because it’s mainly guitar at the start and then you get the addition of strings and all sorts of other instruments during the chorus which I really like. Overall I like the first half of the mixtape better than the second half. The second half definitely calms you down and chills you out—so I can see why you did it. It’s just I think it would take me a much longer time to get in to the artists presented here than the ones in the first half. But that being said, a very good mixtape that I thoroughly enjoyed. :nice:

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Hey TwistedPolitik, nice to meet you and welcome to the Muse Thread (this is where all the awesome happens :awesome:) I'm Natt. It's cool that you got to see them twice. And I'm jealous you got to see them on the Saturday :bomb: I wanted to. I ended up going on the Friday (not that it's a bad thing, but yeahh, still jealous of the Saturday setlist. Can you tell I'm a Muser from the way I complain at the setlist :laugh3:) My favourite album is also Showbiz with OoS a very close second. My favourite songs are Muscle Museum, PiB, Uno, Bliss, BaH, TiRO, KoC and Undisclosed Desires. (Although I'm sure if you ask me again in like 4 days it will be different). Also, as much as I love all their albums... The Resistance has been the most disappointing thus far.

[4-June-2011] Coldplay @ Rock am Ring: Nürburgring, Germany (Live Stream links in 1st post)
I have to say I really like the sound of all the other new songs off LP5. Other things to note: Love that there was so much Parachutes stuff in the setlist. Alongside the newer stuff you can really see Coldplay evolution in action. Disappointed that they only played Fix You off X&Y. I love X&Y so it being practically shelved is lame. This hasn't changed my mind about ETIAW though. Still not liking it, liable to never like it as much as any other Coldplay song on my iPod. I'd actually be liable to skip it tbh.

Okay, so is it MX or HLH? And Chris has learnt dance moves similar to me. This is not a good thing.

I'm on board for this for the rest of the night. Let's see what Coldplay can pull out of the bag.

New Coldplay eh?
The newer than new songs are actually making me a whole lot more hopeful about LP5 actually. I'm looking forward to seeing the webcast tonight and seeing how I really feel about them then. It does make me wonder though... Why the fuck did they release ETIAW as their first single? Cartoon Heart, HLH and UATW are far superior!

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
Christina's ventured in to that deep dark virtual space of... 4Chan. DUN DUN DUN. And Violet, if you did start hating on that guy, we were all here with you, so you wouldn't have been at your worst at all. You'd have been justified. The Musers would have united and by the end he'd have been begging for banning (or the Apocalypse)
