  1. okay, ik hoop dat ze dan snel klaar zijn met 'nieuws items' over de Elfstedentocht. Het komt mijn neus uit. KLAAR :smug:
  2. The last song also sounds way too familiar to a song I know. I can sing it but don't know who made it or the exact lyrics, it's killing me! :bomb:
  3. Yes there were, but they didn't make the Top 100. I only counted the countries for the albums in the Top 100 as Italian Plastic suggested. Forgot to mention that, will add in original post. I didn't add the % since in a top 100 the number of voted nearly equals the % (nearly because of shared 98th place for more than 3 albums)
  4. Ah sorry, albums/artists. I don't know the countries that votes because some people don't have their country listed on their profile.
  5. I miss Yossarian U! No need to com. Im here already  I'll use my magic abilities (yes, spiders have those according to the description) TO KICK YOUR ASS!!! Wow! The description also warned me against Wolves ... this stuff must be REAL! :shocked2:

  8. Nope. She's talking about Jonas Bjerre, leadsinger of the band Mew.
  9. Ik geef helemaal niets om die 11 steden tocht :disappointed:
  10. I miss the tons of naked boobies they promised us  Chris looks like Jimmy Wales there (esp. Reilly sig) :surprised:
  11. Nice idea! I love to read the little stories of people with the songs. For me, Green Eyes and Amsterdam would make much sense, since I'm from Holland/have visited Amsterdam many times and I've got green eyes ..... but if only five, it might be these: 1. The Scientist - Listened a lot to this when I started my study biology and really went for becoming a scientist. I fell in love with another biologist and we had a troublesome relationship, at which end I found myself listening to this and cry. 2. Clocks - Found it an amazing song! One of my favorites songs ever. Could fit in a lot of places in my personal soundtrack. “Home, home where I wanted to go" 3. Speed Of Sound - I went to Denmark for my thesis at that time. Still had cassettes and this song I recorded on it as well. Whenever I hear it now, it brings me back in Copenhagen. Bicycling through the city with this in my head. When I worked in the basement of the uni, when I partied with students and when I sat at home at the fire place or in the garden. 4. Talk - The dorm I lived in was amazing, we partied a lot. Late at night we would find ourselves talking half-drunk/half stoned, but a drunk and a child are the most honest people there are. They were more than dorm mates, they were friends. No, they were even more than friends. At that time I was dating a German guy. We talked a lot through Skype and when we looked at our future plans it didn’t match/gave friction. I broke up with him despite the nice time we had. 5. Violet Hill - When this was on the radio I was again in Denmark. This time for my work, for I had become a scientist and did fieldwork in Denmark. With a prof I would ride through Denmark and also visit old burial sites. I made a picture of him walking on one when the sun was starting to go down, giving the sky a violet hint. I always see this picture in my head and remember our fieldtrips when I hear this song. "Bury me in honour when I’m dead and hit the ground"
  12. Top 100 compared to two Metadata Tops: The Top as we have it with behind each album between brackets the metascore rankings in the list of metacritic and the list of acclaimedmusic. 13. Merge please ... Timeline will be on my profile 13 February anyway, it says, whether I want to or not.
  14. Wyrd replied to Leire's topic in The World Of Music
:heart::heart: I love that song so much :)
  15. Here it's €16,- for the CD. Too expensive, I'll wait 'till the prize drops. Then it'll be mine :sneaky: 5.5 for Pitchfork is okay? Niiiice, that means my favorite band is amazing according to them (;)). They always got > 8 for their album reviews.
  16. No. I - for example - like Coldplay, but not Snow Patrol :escaping2: Nah, but check them out to be sure, it seems most people do like them. Also perhaps, White Lies, The Killers, Editors, Interpol, Arcade fire, Kashmir, Thirteen Senses, The Boxer Rebellion, The Temper Trap, Mew, Moi Caprice, Magenta Skycode, The Kissaway Trail, Carpark North, Bloc Party, Genesis and Franz Ferdinand. If you like Mumford and Sons, you might like The Rumour Said Fire, it's kind of folk/indierock - like Mumford and Sons. Elbow, you sure must have heard of already? Might be of your liking as well. Fleet Foxes, Noah and the Whale, Cody, The National and Bon Iver too. - DISCLAIMER: Recommendations highly influenced by what I like :D
  17. Hm, that's odd. The list of Acclaimedmusic.net is different from metacritic.com which also works with metadata from lots of music rating websites. I used the latter to calculate resemblance between a metalist and our list. :S David, your list is here Para-para-parrotdies, I really like that idea btw!
  18. Thanks people for the recommandations! I like this :D Both 'Mainstream' and 'Hipster' lists are not to be taken seriously, if you discovered an amazing new indie band and whored it around here in WoM sure some people have picked it up and listed it in their list as well, thereby making you all a bit more 'mainstream'. I just realised that I wanted to have Bombay Bicycly Club and Foster The People on my list as well. Somehow I forgot about those :,,,( For this year (2012) I think I will try to whore around more with my favorites. When I make the Mainstream List, it means I was succesful! :smug: Anymore lists people can think of that we can make with the data we have? I like making lists ... apparently
  19. Just threw in some links in the Album of the Year thread :D Right now listening to the album tbh They got #6 on the best album 2011 list here I think they sound sometimes like Valensia joined the band Oh No Ono :uhoh:
  20. More albums perhaps worth checking out? Girls - Father, Son, Holy Ghost (1 vote, 2nd place) Indie/lo-fi, 9.3 as rating in the Pitchfork review, album stream on guardian website Mark Radcliffe - What Remains Of The Day (1 vote, 2nd place) Acoustic solo album, samples to be heard on record company's webpage Memphis - Here Comes A City (1 vote, 2nd place) Indie (dream) pop, 7/10 rating in review, free song listening on their myspace Mother Mother - Eureka (1 vote, 2nd place) Avante Indie rock/pop, #6 in best albums 2011 here and that goes with free listens to the songs! The See See - Late Morning Light (1 vote, 2nd place) Psychedelic pop, some songs can be listened at on their website and myspace The Wonder Years - Suburbia I’ve Given You All and Now I’m Nothing (1 vote, 2nd place) Indie pop/rock/punk, 95% rating in this review and 4,5/5 here Gotye - Making Mirrors (2 votes, 2.5th place on average) Pop, rating 9.2 here and 7.7 on pitchfork, tracks can be listened at on his soundcloud
  21. Just getting it ..... :} Exited! Spleen United's album is out there already as well, now the wait for The Twilight Sad. Must say that the two songs they already gave a free download for, sound pretty good! New album of The Fray is out there already as well.
  22. Okay, so I added up the points per album for each list and devided it by the lenght of the list. Average Points per album on list are shown behind the voter, as well as the number of matches between the common Top 25 and the exact matches with the common Top 25 (and number of albums in their list) Top 10 Voters most mainstream between voters: 1. Cleggy (5388) (9/11) (0/11) 2. Dundah Mifflin (5158) (9/10) (1/10) 3. stuardjo (4897) (5/5) (0/5) 4. Saketblitz (4777) (8/10) (1/10) 5. Baw8cc (4706) (7/10) (0/10) 6. Melagomania (4657) (9/11) (0/11) 7.Cyan Kat (4569) (7/9) (1/9) 8. Cheese Nip 2 (4374) (7/9) (0/9) 9. rainplay (4234) (8/10) (0/10) 10. ivet (4215) (8/11) (0/11) Sorry para-para-parrotdies :P You are also according to this way of calculating mainstreamness a kind of hipster :laugh3: Top 5 Voters least mainstream between voters: 1. David (350) (0/7) (0/7) 2. domscientist (489) (0/14) (0/14) 3. Timothy Q. Mouse (568) (1/20) (0/20) 4. para-para-parrotdies (948) (2/25) (0/25) 5. squareonefivesix (1484) (6/25) (0/25)
  23. If there's two hipsters on the board with the same hipster taste, then on this list they would not even appear because they both voted for the same hipster album that no one ever heard of except them two, hahaha! I am making a list of voters that had the most in common with the actual list. This time I summed up the points each song got on their list and this way I can again come up with a 'hipster' list, which will be a bit different because now also the songs that did make the Top will count. I will fall off for example because I also voted for MX and Bon Iver and Radiohead. David will still be number one, hahaha!, because he really voted only for albums that no one else voted for. I'll come up with more hipster albums worth listening to, as well :D
  24. Kaiser Chiefs vs Franz Ferdinand
