  1. I havent heard it, what is it like? I really like some of their stuff. Californication and BTW were really good albums. Venice Queen is a top song.
  2. Is this It is a better album IMHO, but it was hard to top and Room on fire is still a rocking good listen
  3. Talking about girl bands I just came back from seeing one... actually it was more a girl fronted band - they were called Little Birdy. They were great, only came into the spotlight down here recently but I reckon they will be massive. Check out their website - http://www.littlebirdy.net - you can download their new single 'Relapse', which I cant recommend enough. Its got the same appeal to me as coldplay, melodic, emotional and uplifting, but with a chick singing it. And they really rocked out live, shes got a really emotive and powerful voice. Anyway fifi, i'll check those links... (goes to click on the link and is carried of to far away into cyberspace) :D
  4. Little Birdy - Relapse
  5. Triple J is pretty cool hey? they had a radiohead special with their performance from glastonbury last week that was great. How long have you lived in london?
  6. Yoshimi is a nice album. Not my fave but nice. :) It is good happy music, and even though it is a bit silly it actually has quite a bit to say. I like the song All We Have Is Now. It has certainly grown on me since i first listened to it. Is soft bulletin very different?
  7. I live by coffee. Life without coffee would be unbearable. Vienna Coffee is the best! not only do you get strong coffee but you get large quantites of cream as well :D
  8. but it does depend also on your musical talent as well though, some people have a knack at picking stuff up by themselves. some of the best guitarists are self taught, sometimes they learn to do unconventional stuff which becomes characteristic of their sound.
  9. Yeah ive sought of self taught myself, but Im getting lessons now just because I really want to get myself a bit more capable and its helping a lot. But the fact that i struggled learning on my own for a while was a real positive I think, made me understand and learn a lot about how to play. I want to learn drums just to get better sense of timing and rhythm
  10. nah doesnt offend at all I know that some religious people are kinda kooky, my sympathies liquidsky! ;) Ive grown up in a christian family myself and I know all the ins and outs of that kind of thing. Some of it is merely hype. Its kind of a miracle that i still believe in god coz there is so much that upsets me an angers me in the christian church. However there are three or four wonderful people I know who sometimes make me wonder if perhaps there really is something behind it all they are very different to anyone else I know, in the way they treat people, its if they have something bubbling away in them ... but I dont know what I think really. Im still searching for answers in many ways. Gosh this post is getting deep :o :D
  11. the beach, nice! Adelaide beaches kinda suck. Yeah i hope i get tix too coz if i dont I will be depressed as hell  they are playing the sydney entertainment centre on april 23 and rod laver arena in melbourne on the 26th. Itll be my 21st around those days so thatll be my birthday, forget having a party, I'll be seeing radiohead thankyou very much :D u much of a fan?
  12. isnt there just so much hidden and deeper meaning in the lyrics of strokes songs ... 'the end has no end the end has no end the end has no end the end has no end' :P
  13. Yeah the tix in sydney and melbourne sold in a flash as well. ;) I will be online early on monday morning to try and get a ticket for Radiohead when they come to australia next april. I am dead keen to see them but am just praying I will beat the rush. they havent come since 97 so the tix are expecting to sell out dead flat. where are you from in australia?
  14. yeah victoria i think i read that in an interview on the web somewhere as well, something about having a christian family ... erm buy I cant remember quite what he said... but then there is the possibility that I have been hallucinating again... "please nurse, please not the tranquilliser again!! nooooo" (writhes around frothing at the mouth) :stunned: :wink3:
  15. ah, control yourselves girls! :P Anyway it was the music that did it for me!:D
  16. Yeah mate they are indeed our prime (& best) rock band! GO AUSSIES GO :P be more than happy to make some! :) Theyve got two brilliant albums which are both really worth owning. My Happiness was one of their big hits of their 'Odyssey Number 5' album released in 2000 and went something like 7 times platinum in Australia! My happiness is a good song but the rest of the album is actually much better! Its a cool album coz its really cohesive, a bit like OK Computer, one song leads to the next, and it rocks but its also really atmospheric. Another really good album is called 'Internationalist' and that has got more of an alternative feel to it. That was from back in 98 and I dont know if that made it much outside Australia but is on par with Odyssey as being a great album. Yeah I got their tour details sent to me on their mailing list. If anyone is interested these are Powderfingers Uk dates: UK TOUR 02-11-2003 QMU, Glasgow SCOTLAND, supported by Jebediah Tickets on sale at the box office phone 0870 169 0100. 03-11-2003 Academy 2, Manchester ENGLAND, supported by Jebediah Tickets on sale from http://www.gigsandtours.com or by phoning 0161 831 1111. 04-11-2003 Shepherd’s Bush Empire ENGLAND, supported by Jebediah 05-11-2003 Shepherd’s Bush Empire ENGLAND, supported by Jebediah Tickets FOR BOTH SHEPHERD'S BUSH SHOWS - on sale at the venue phone 08700 600 100, Way Ahead 0207 403 331, Stargreen phone 0207 734 8943 or by visiting http://www.gigsandtours.com. 07-11-2003 Ambassador, Dublin IRELAND, supports TBC Tickets on sale from Ticketmaster phone 0818 719 300. Theyd be heaps worth seeing :D
  17. Anyone heard of Powderfinger before? Theyre VERY big in australia, I dont know how much their influence has spread out. Brilliant band. Used to sound a lot like a pumped up version of Bowie/PinkFloyd with a good deal of Radiohead and U2 guitars thrown in. Did their 5th album 'vulture street' this year which is much more rock in the Led Zep tradition. I think they are touring Europe and the UK this/next month, theyd REALLY be worth checking out, their live shows are amongst the best Ive ever seen. They always not only really rock out but create a very beautiful atmosphere which is not that unlike coldplay. Im going to see them in december when they do their national tour can't wait!!! :D _________________ The[aussie]Scientist
  18. This would be a lovely band... vocals - Bernard Fanning (Powderfinger) guitar - Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead) guitar - The Edge (U2) keys - Brian Eno bass - Robert Turner (BRMC) drums - Dave Grohl (come on you've got to know him)
  19. yeah i get u man. nothing wrong with faith its just institutions, they put things in a box, start playing power games, fuck everything up. You can have something which is beautiful and good which is turned into an ugly monster because of institutions. Its like democracy. Nice idea, but once you build institutions it turns into something quite different to the concept - to the point that it sure isnt democracy anymore. End of rant. :D :D
  20. Its REALLY good. I didnt quite know what to make of it at first. Its similar to Is This It without sounding like a carbon copy... after a couple of listens I cant get a few songs out of my head - the first song and the last one, as well as Reptilia, Meet Me in the Bathroom - and it stands up on its own right without feeling like a complement to their debut. In other words it rocks!
  21. The Strokes - Reptillia (brilliant song!)
  22. They also like the Aussie band Powderfinger. At Splendour in the Grass, Chris opens the song 'Dont Panic' with a lyric from their song My Happiness. And powderfinger also had the 'special guests' support slot on part of their Australian tour a few years back.
  23. Amsterdam - brilliant song! I thought it said 'wont change the sin' on the album but heard 'thing' on a live track... the two words are really interchangable, coz 'sin' would relate to the idea about failing and being 'on my way down' but thing would work just as well. Mabye Chris couldnt work out which to sing so he did half half
