  1. The backing vocals by both Jonny and will add a lot to the songs live, they add a lot more texture, they harmonise well with Chris. Its good to see them taking the lead for a few tiny bits too.
  2. cool :) I got it the other day. It is really worth getting, a bit different to some of her earlier stuff, there are more straight up songs rather than experimentation, but is still great, cant go too wrong with pj. The first three songs and 'this is love' and 'the mess we're in' are all current favs of mine now. tomorrow im going to see if the new U2 live dvd is out in the shops.
  3.   parrotshooting :D
  4. Its not a matter of 'beating' it. Its just a matter of making really brilliant songs. If a band can keep doing that then they will keep being listened too. Its like Radiohead, probably none of their recent albums beat ok computer as an album but the songs are still amazing and also coz they are continually growing as a band they'll keep being listened to. Anyway aside from that I think they can beat Rush of Blood, because they are begining to try different types of approaches so have more room for experimentation - something like 1:36 would not have been written from parachutes era, and just their punked up version of Trouble they show off at a soundcheck on live 2003 shows they have a different side to them that we've hardly glimpsed yet.
  5. Thankyou :P btw what songs did they play?
  6. its a secret beatles song that was never recorded but got caught in an echo chamber until one day it was discovered by oasis' manager ... really its true  but despite that fact, it is still a very cool song :P
  7. when they are walking on the stage? If what you are talking about is what Im thinking thats the keyboard/synth intro they use before politik live. I dont think its a song of its own but is just a chord progression that leads into Politik. Its also on the politik live version on the gpasyf single. hope that is right :D
  8. Hey there star politik, im gareth, have fun! :D and cool, another aussie!! big gday to you jax! :P welcome aboard. Where are you from?
  9. Sounds like you had the time of your life! theyre music is so beautiful isnt it... I cant wait til april, cant wait til april, cant wait til april... :D Radiohead makes me happy too. I think I will put that in my sig :D :D
  10. "for a minute then I lost myself" :D Anyone ever heard thom doing solo stuff? I got a solo gig he did, bridge school benefit or something, it was really good, Just thom and his guitar/piano. It brought out the fact that even though radioheads songs can be quite complex and experimental, underneath all the noise are some killer songs and melodies.
  11. I thought it was quite the opposite the band seemed to gel together really well, you could see that they enjoyed being in a band together. Also no one is ever really quite themselves when on camera. And touring is supposedly quite monotonous despite the enjoyment and seeing the same people 24/7 can end up creating friction... but if anyone has ever seen Radioheads tour film Meeting People is Easy, in contrast Coldplay are getting on with each other better than mice and cheese! :D
  12. wasnt that by the beatles? :P
  13. Some of my fav bands at the moment... Idlewild, the Doves, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, PJ Harvey are all getting good rotation in my stereo at the moment Sigur Ros - such a beautiful sounding band - http://www.sigur-ros.com Powderfinger - check out their album Odyssey Number 5 one of my all time favs - http://www.powderfinger.com Elbow - theyre great, got a nice dose of coldplay in some of their songs - http://www.elbow.co.uk Hope that helps! :D And btw hello coldplay1126, welcome aboard ;)
  14. There There - Radiohead
  15. When I was 16 I had terrible tastes in music :dizzy2: that was before my conversion to the alternative scene, before i knew the joys of rock&roll... but there is no way i will confess what I listened to :anxious: ;)
  16. gotta confess Ive never listened to much suede at all for all the hype ive heard about them... any recommendations?
  17. it rocks on the live dvd!!! last song on the encore set (although they come back out to finsih with life is for living) it still remains one the classic coldplay songs with the nice piano intro, the slow build then blowing off the roof at the end, sort of the protege to their old b-side 'such a rush'.
  18. ^ god that is a lot of money! :o I plan to get this month - pj harvey, 'stories from the...' - radiohead, 'amnesiac' and the 'running from demons ep' - sigur ros () - death cab for cutie's new album
  19. yeah 2+2=5 will rock out, i heard a live version on a radio broadcast the other day it was brilliant. I really hope they play street spirit, that would be beautiful live.
  20. I remember when i started having a go at some vocals a few years back I sounded teeeerible but with a few tips on how to sing and a lot more practice I started to sound alright. so with vocals dont get put off if you sound terrible for a while, its a bit like guitar there is a initially a real learning curve but once you get used to it you can sound fairly good. then will can have all the hotties for yourself :D
  21. It was recorded down here in Australia at some venue in Sydney ... erm cant remember the venue but I think its on the dvd somewhere... (rushes up to check fancy dvd cover... :idea2: ) aha, here we are ... it was recorded in "Hordern Pavillion" apparently :D btw its a brilliant concert isnt it?
  22. "...its gonna be a glorious day" :D cant wait to see them, I havent seen them before coz they last came to Australia in 97 and that was before I got into them.
  23. It is brilliant!!! Right up there with the Elevation tour in terms of passion and intimacy. I really like the fact they put out an audio cd with it so I can blast it on my stereo as well as watch it live... not many dvd packages are as worth the value as this. Although I am annoyed - there is a scratch on the dvd so it jumps in GPASOYF ... not happy!!! But its still great, best moments for me rush of blood to the head, see You Soon, one i love and the encore set is great. Moses isnt my absolute fav song of theirs but it is still REALLY good! and I would have liked to hear spies, but the concert still utterly brilliant I also really like the punked up guitar version of Trouble they play in a soundcheck on the tour diary. :D gosh its distracting me from my exam cramming :embarrased: :P
