  1. Okay, okay. Here we go. Definitive album placement. A Rush of Blood to the Head>Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends>X&Y>Parachutes. Let's start with Parachutes. Great music, lyrics lacking. Amazing album and honestly. There's only two bands who have even one album I might take over it. Radiohead and Keane. But even as Coldplay's lowest album, it's still among the best of the best. Next X&Y. Same with Parachutes. Great melodies, unimpressive lyrics for the most part. The thing here for me is these two are really close just like ARoBttH and VlVoDaAHF are. When you compare. X&Y has 13 songs over 3 and half minutes, and Parachutes has 8. That says a lot for me. If Parachutes had as more songs (and good ones at that) It would probably rank higher than X&Y). If any songs really take it over Parachutes for me it has to be "Talk" and "A Message". Then Viva. Great melodies and well crafted lyrics. The most diverse by far and opened me up to many new sounds. I love the cultural 'flavors' of the album. From Africa to South America you can hear it and it's brilliant. A lot of experimentation. Their talent really flows. The one problem i have is I wish it were longer. And they really shouldn't have left off Rain Day. I dare say it may be better than any of the songs that made it on the album musically. And of course. A Rush. Best melodies ever and good lyrics. It's not as creative or venturing as VlV but the melodies strikes me as better and somehow more raw sounding. My favorite instrument is the piano and it's prevalence here probably helps a bit. Simply put. It's longer than Viva by 10 minutes which is a + and. If you have The Scientist and Clocks, well, you simply cannot lose. I personally believe the new album will either be between A Rush and Viva or Viva and X&Y. All the songs sound promising, especially Moving to Mars, Hurts Like Heaven (now that I can understand the lyrics, back when it first came out i was clueless), and Us Against the World. MtM and UAtW may not be on it but. I have a really good feeling they've kept the best songs from us. Why wouldn't you leave them to be a surprise and keep them a secret? That's just what I think anyway.
  2. Fair enough. And PoC doesn't strike me as that good lyrically. I think it sounds too much like the last album musically to be on the new one. Not sure why though.
  3. All three of those songs are great not 'alright'. :P Lyrically and musically. I would definitely have to agree with this. I'm thinking/really hoping the same.
  4. My word! ^ How could I forget? Moving to Mars has some really good lyrics too. And that's three great points my friend. Very nice. (:
  5. It's not as different in terms of like cultural influences surely. But i think it is new in a different sort of way. And I don't think that's necessarily bad. I could see where people would say it's more pop-influenced. But there's no hip hop or rap or even collaborations. It's still the same four amazing talented musicians together. And I think the lyrics are some of the best they're ever written on certain songs; Hurts Like Heaven and Us Against the World are what I'm referring to. All of the new ones are at least decent lyrically. Minus ETIAW that is. :dozey: What's your sig from by the way? Never heard it but sounds really interesting. No Lie.
  6. VlVoDaAHF is their second best album. And easily the most musically diverse. I'm very happy they started working with Brian Eno. Sure. He may direct them more and influence them more so than Ken Nelson or their other producers but what he's helped them become is really amazing. I was afraid Coldplay would be one of those bands with 2 or 3 really amazing albums and then keep making the same stuff over and over again and get really stale. But they didn't because they wanted to get BETTER not just BIGGER. VlV is amazing. the new songs, besides ETIAW, are dare I say...even better. I'm so glad they agreed to work with Brian so they didn't end up similar to bands like Nickelback and AC/DC who make good music but just keep making the same stuff over and over, go absolutely no where and have almost 0 progression in their music.
  7. Right here man. I hope this helps. (: http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=7539 **The band played a swag of new songs at Splendour which are among the 16 songs that may make the album including Hurts Like Heaven, Us Against the World and Charlie Brown. "It's a baptism of fire in the greatest sense," Martin said of Coldplay's run on the festival circuit this year. "People are obviously on your side because they're coming to watch you. So you know if they don't respond to the new songs they're probably shite. Or if everyone starts yawning. It's fun doing these festivals. It's a nice way of reintroducing yourself to the audiences and reintroducing yourself to the idea of coming back with something new. It's a different pressure to trying to sell out an arena or a stadium on your own. You feel you have the safety net of your peers around you. Even if we're shit at Splendour people got to see Pulp.**
  8. Hell no you're not! Long albums>>>always. Who doesn't love more music? Everyone apparently. I find that weird. Less quality? All you're getting is the same songs plus other ones that could be just as good if not even better. Even if they're not OMG AMAZING they can still be good. That's blasphemous. Major Minus is a good song. Charlie Brown is amazing. Us Against the World rocks, finally showcases some of Will Godly voice and proves (against false allegations I've heard) that they're not just trying to write catchy, upbeat radio hits. :P Those nugget heads I swear. Have to agree. It makes me think of how Peter got kicked out of Coldplay for suggesting something other than 'whiny bull crap'. That's certainly not a valid description of their music. But on that one song, I can't deny they'd be feeding Seth McFarlene a tiny bit of credibility to his claim. It doesn't sound completelyyyyy dreadful it's just. The lyrics and the way he sings it...I don't know... I've been thinking this for a long time! :D I swear, in most Coldplay songs I listen to I wouldn't even know they had a bassist if I didn't know better. And it's sad because Guy seems like a great musician- he's just shy or they don't give him the musical-face-time he deserves. I am glad that on Charlie Brown, Major Minus, and ETIAW he does at least have some parts that stand out! :P
  9. I hate to burst the bubble here but..but... No more concerts until September 16th!! But that's also good in a way because it means that much more time to get the album completely done and mastered and to tell us some infooo. :)
  10. Not even gonna lie. Sorry for the language. That. Was. FREAKING. ORGASMIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. he has "I Struggle with the feeling that my life isn't mine" and "I stole a key took a car down town" on his piano. I never saw what was on that side.
  12. Me and one of my best friend's, Ryan are watching it online. And our other close friend go to go but is watching someone else. And we just got a text from him saying he could hear Coldplay from where he is. And my friend Ryan is like "How could he be so stupid and miss them? You know what he is right now? Lost!" :DDDD hahaha
  13. Jonny changed guitars already. haha I never get tired of that In My Place beat. Ever. Whenever I need a song to calm me down, weirdly enough (despite the lyrics) it's this song over all others.
  14. Jonny destroyeddd on Hurts Like Heaven. [: He really is an amazing guitarist!!
  15. I agree with your logic but not your statement. True, there is no reason to tell us now. Except for the fact that they've told us hardly anything and we're losing our minds. But on a more serious note. Why not two months before? If you recall, they told us the tracklist of VlVoDaAHF on April 10th-11th, which was a little over two months before the album came out in mid June. With that in mind, I don't see why they wouldn't. They must know by now that our lives practically revolve around Coldplay. That's a good point in the last part though. I never thought about it that way. It's going to be pretty snozzing insane...
  16. Agreed^ Just a simple question. Why is everyone so vitriolic around here? Really not necessary. It may have been a little assumptive but it's not like she did anything wrong. Give her a break- and you're not the only ones anxious/grouchy due to the wait for new info on LP5. :P Trust me, we all are but it'll get here soon.
  17. Guy's sporting the cherry red UFO bass! :D I'm hyped for that. It's really cool and. If ETIAW and Charlie Brown are on the album after all, and they're on the other instruments they used last night- it makes me think UFO could well be too!
  18. This is just a thought. And a little random but. When you think about how Chris said a lot of loud songs, a lot of soft songs. Major Minus will be on there and it's 'loud' for Coldplay, and Hurts Like Heaven, Charlie Brown, and ETIAW are loud for them as well and they could all make it potentially. Meanwhile, to get to the more quiet songs. Guy said Moving to Mars may or may not be and Us Against the World who knows? I have this really good feeling they have a lot of quiet songs we haven't heard that are probably amazing. They just didn't play them at the festival, think about it. What would you play new loud songs or new quiet ones? I think the answer is pretty clear. 4 loud songs that seem likely to make it versus 2 quiet ones that may or may not. Like I said, I think there could still be a lot of quiet songs in store if, as Chris seems to suggest, there's roughly the same number of quiet and loud songs making the album.
  19. Off-topic. The "mixing in los angeles headline feed quoted me but I said "and I think Major Minus is the best new song in my opinion but I just don't see them using it. Hopefully tracklist soon!!!!" when I meant to say Moving to Mars. bah. lol I'm stu. And did she really?
  20. This so exciting!! You are definitely not the WORST band in the world, more like the BEST Guy. :P But finally some concrete news. I like the sound of the new title like a lot of the new Coldplay songs- just the imagery about it seems really cool. SIXTEEN SONGS BEING CONSIDERED?? YES! I know that doesn't mean they'll all make it but it sounds as though we'll get 13-14 songs which is epic. :D I'm not too down about Major Minus being on the album. It goes so well with what seems to be an album theme of paranoia and control and the news of other things is so good it's just not phasing me. I do hope ETIAW isn't on it though, and I think Major Minus is the best new song in my opinion but I just don't see them using it. Hopefully tracklist soon!!!! Good question.
