  1. Definitely! lol And I think you see that with the new songs. The one's I mentioned are uplifting, Moving to Mars and Us Against the World have that slow, kind of sad vibe to it. And Major Minus is up tempo but I think the lyrics are more just anxious rather than happy/sad. I like what we have so far for sure. :D I love four of the six new songs (not Major Minus or ETIAW. I don't love them, I just think they're "great" rather than "amazing"/"incredible"). And unlike most people, for me the voice thing on MM doesn't even get me. I was just never as impressed by that song even live as I was with the others :P . btw This album will be epic sauceeeee!
  2. Clocks, A Message, Rainy Day (the violins on the chorus are like the best in history), ETIAW (this especially, it works so well. I don't care how many people don't like it, it's not a bad song), Charlie Brown, Hurts Like Heaven. I especially like how their music has gotten happy. [: I mean some of my favorite bands out there like Radiohead or Keane or Travis all they write about is really sad things it seems- still...after ten or twenty years. :| They've always been different than those bands but I know they also get a lot of comparisons to them. The happy, uplifting vibe from a decent number of new songs and even the lyrics definitely separate them from other bands like that. They've really come into their own now I think, which is fantastic. :]]
  3. Definitely agree. It's not like him to do that at all. I think Chris will master How to Disappear Completely and forever avoid the paparazzi before that happens. :P
  4. I actually like this version of the lyrics now that you put it that way. Before I didn't care for it. But I still def. prefer the other version better because it fits the whole "nervous" and "can't relax" theme in the two lines preceding. 'How come they're out to get us?/How come they're out when they don't know the facts?' It's a very paranoid-infused line and I think it just works really well. Plus I know whenever I'm really nervous I constantly ask questions, whether in my head or out loud. Why is this person doing this? Why are they doing that? And so on. Chris may not be the best lyricist in the world. But I think Hurts Like Heaven is some pretty great stuff as far as Coldplay goes. His lyrics paint the situation well- especially during the stanza in question. I always feel like I'm living his feelings/concerns during that part.
  5. You got to this before I could!! haha Good call. This is a great inference you make. I would have to agree.
  6. You could very well be right! I tried using photoshop on a few of Chris's older pics from festivals from the past month but it didn't help. :/ This pic is more high quality and I'd have to agree with your claim. I used to think it said "Under Road" or "Under Rose". The way I look at it is like this. The piano didn't get painted until probably mid/late May at the latest and that was almost 2 months ago. If they haven't decided on the tracklist even now think how far back they could've been then. I imagine they did one of a few things. 1) Only put the references of the songs on there that they were almost 95%/100% sure of, which was mostly only the songs we know now. 2) Only put the songs they were going to play on, with a few additional mystery pieces, because, as is one of their rules, they have to keep "mysterious." 3) This artwork is only for this leg of the tour until October comes around and then they'll change it. After all, it's mostly only those songs they've played. And, hey! Maybe they'll play Car Kids, Rex (if that is a song), and Under Roof (also if that's a song) at later dates on this tour as well. I wouldn't expect them to flesh out the artwork with 700 hints to all the songs we haven't heard. You know how they are. And besides, some of the stuff on here probably does reference other songs. They probably made it hard to read/messy on purpose. And we're still forgetting about Jonny's guitars and Guy's bass. ;) So. note: That double MM stylistically drawn on there vividly reminds me of the exhibition room logo, which I had previously thought was two M's sharing a middle bar. I'm not saying it has to be. But what if this means Major Minus is the album title? "Two words, starts with M." I'm not saying it has to be. But maybe the guy's name on the album is "Major" (like a general) Minus. Pure speculation and I'm probably wrong. :P lol but just a thought. I mean there's more reference to that song on his piano than any other and the "Major Minus Media" logo is the most prominent and carefully placed one on their shirts it seems.
  7. :) No problem man. Just speaking the truth! Seriously, he's so underrated. I can't believe he never got a prominent singing role on any of the songs until Death Will Never Conquer!! :| It's pretty ridiculous. They changed the list on WikiColdplay. I don't know why- but they did. The original South Bank show never had ETIAW or Hurts Like Heaven or Us Against the World or Major Minus or Up with the Birds for that matter. We didn't find out about those songs until awhile later and they didn't have them at the time of South Bank. Do you want to see the real list from two years ago? Because I obsessed over it and saved it in a Microsoft word doc. -“1000-1 (Ballad of…)” -“Aiko” -“Alien Radio” -“Alive Day” -“Arabesque” -“Boyfriend” -“Buzz” -“Car Kids” -“Cartoon Head” -“Cartoon Heart” -“Christmas Lights” -“Drunks and Guns” -“Famous Old Painters’ -“Gardeners on the Frontline” -“Great Expectations” -“Harbingers of Doom’ -“Harmony” -“Hook up” -“If I Ever Fall in Love Again” -“It Was a Wonderful Day” -“Love in a Lethal Dose” -“Lucky Sevens” -“Princess of China” -“Sex Violence” -“Spanish Rain” -”Space Symphony” -“Wedding Bells” -“Wilderness” -“Wondering Star” Those were the original songs on the list. Again, don't know why someone changed it. But yeah. So I'm sorry but you can't invalidate my claim based on what you mistook as the truth. It's not really your fault after all though... You're not the first one I've seen refer to the list mistakenly. Someone should fix that and put it back to the original so we don't have any more mess ups.
  8. I know there's no absolute-concrete proof to tie this together. But I just noticed as I was listening to the song: 1) It's very natural in it's lyrics, the river/raindrop, erodes us, the clouds, the water your ships roll in. And what also convinces me. "If we could float away fly up to the surface and just start again" and "Lift off before trouble..." 2) You have "through chaos as it swirls", if you replace "it's us against the world" with "we fly up with the birds" i don't think it fits QUITE as well but it still essentially rhymes and that's probably why they changed the lyrics and thus the title. 3) The song is very peaceful melodically. It definitely makes me think that it could've been named something with "Birds" in it and even at the end, Jonny's guitar riff is gorgeous. But it's just so in a way that I could imagine it emulating birds "lifting off". 4) Chris said "It might be a duet but we don't know who with yet." They probably decided the duet would be within the band, a la with Will. Because he is a fantastic singer after all. :] And he definitely deserves it. 4) To counter this though, Chris also said "I'm trying to make sure there are three songs that start with the same letter. This time it could be U." Which I just realized makes me also really believe "U.F.O." will be a song!! :D Maybe the three U's are U.F.O., Us Against the World, and Up with the Birds? Though I'm betting it's probably U.F.O., Us Against the World (PKA Up with the Birds), and another song we don't know/haven't heard.
  9. You make a good point! I shall keep that in mind. [: Is it just me or do the new songs sound better the longer they play them live? Like significantly better. Especially Hurts Like Heaven and Charlie Brown even more. I don't know what it is, probably all the practice and working out bugs. But i had mp3's of these songs live for 6/3 and now I have the one's from 7/2 and it's pretty amazing what 1 month difference between live versions makes! :D
  10. lol it's so fun being a Coldplay fan!! [: I thought of a few more and had to add them to that post. It's amazing what they can do to you.
  11. ...other high schoolers on your bus always ask you what you're listening to on the way to school/home. And just about every single time it's Coldplay and so you tell them that. And then within two weeks of the the new school year, they just completely stop asking you (and talking to you at all for that matter). :earmuffs: ...you're at the mall and you're leaning over the rail. "Speed of Sound" starts playing and you're so excited to hear Coldplay in a public place you almost fall over the railing and plummet 20 feet to the ground floor (not even kidding lol). :heartattackiconifitwerereal: ...you're listening to them on your ipod but one of their songs comes on the radio in the car during that time. You turn off your ipod, yell at everyone to shut up now, and sing the song as loud and out of key as is probably human possible. :singer: ...your favorite moment at your graduation party wasn't even a conversation or something you did with your friends. It was usurping the dj stand, hooking up your ipod, and jamming to "Charlie Brown" (from live @ Werchter) like a completely idiot while everyone was taken aback at your horrible dance moves and guitar/ bass playing simulations.
  12. +7,000. Add Moving to Mars to this and we're golden! Although I'm not sure whether or not that'll make it after all so...yeah.
  13. No prob. sir. [: And it is clear you don't. haha But you really should give them a listen if you haven't. If you don't like electronic music you probably won't take to them too well but hearing one or two songs by them can't hurt.
  14. It seems weird to me. When i think about the LP5 artwork we've seen on Chris's piano, Jonny's guitar's, Guy's bass, and their clothes. Because I notice that. It seems to be songs like Major Minus (the Major Minus Media symbol), Us Against the World (the swirls that fit to the "Through chaos as it swirls lyric"), Car Kids (on the back of Chris's shirt and on his pants too I believe, and on the piano and a few other things as well), U.F.O. (painted on Guy's bass, the weird UFO-like things on their outfits, sometimes next to the swirls) and MX (painted on the piano and all over their clothes). I mean. It's as if three of the four best songs we've gotten to hear (as far as I'm concerned); Charlie Brown, Hurts Like Heaven, and Moving to Mars have gotten little love in the artwork form. I haven't seen anything relating to Charlie Brown (even though they said one day it would be an old favorite on a twitter post), Hurts Like Heaven has only one nod on one of Jonny's guitars (where it says "Spray can soul"), and Moving to Mars there's only that one "I heard it on the radio" painted on the picture of the guitar amp they posted. I can't help but wonder. Does this signify something? Everyone's praising Princess of China but that has just one nod on another one of Jonny's guitars ("Once upon a Time"). Even ETIAW only has that one teardrop on the piano and yet it's supposedly the 'lead single'. I just think it's incredibly weird. It's almost to suggest that the main songs on the album will be Car Kids, U.F.O. (if that is a song which I believe it will be), MX, Major Minus, and Us Against the World? That just seems really weird somehow. That's not exactly what I would've thought when listening to all the songs they gave us (even though we haven't heard the first two of the ones I listed). I just feel really/weird confused. I thought Hurts Like Heaven and Charlie Brown were supposed to be like MAJOR songs. I don't know. Maybe it's just me. Edit: I would've made this a thread except I feel like I'm annoying everyone with all the threads I've been making lately so I put it in the random thoughts thing here instead. idk.
  15. Well guys. I know this was from awhile ago but! Don't you remember the interview where they first confirmed Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, Hurts Like Heaven, and Up with the Birds? Chris said he had it down to 15 tracks. I'm really hoping this is still a possibility because all their songs are shorter these days anyway because Brian said their songs were too long so instead of 5 minx15=75 min. 4 min x15= 60 min. I don't think that's unreasonable at all. it's still shorter than what X&Y was. And they said in that one interview with Guy and Will 2/3 weeks ago they only had it down to 85 min. Just saying! http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73898 1. MX/Hurts Like Heaven 2. 1000-1 (Ballad of...) 3. Us Against the World 4. DLIBYH 5. Charlie Brown (major singles have always been #5 on an album; Yellow, Clocks, Talk, and Lovers in Japan were all singles and 35 on an album. More recently, bigger singles Speed of Sound and Viva la Vida were #7 on their respective albums. Weird.) 6. Car Kids 7. Golden Arrow 8. Love in a Lethal Dose 9. Harbingers of Doom 10. Major Minus 11. Alien Radio 12. Up with the Birds 13. Wondering Star 14. U.F.O. 15. Moving to Mars The songs we've already heard that I have on here are really great and I don't doubt they could definitely make it. I like the song titles/ideas of the other songs I put and well. I just think this tracklist flows really well from title to title. :]
  16. Not if they know what's good for them they won't. After Satriani, at least 3 or 4 other artists claimed the same thing. As far as I'm concerned, the more people who are complaining about the same song and saying ridiculous things like "they stole Yellow and Clocks when they were two other songs personally from my studio and sold them under their name", which someone actually said if I'm not mistaken. The less credibility they have. I don't think they even took from Satriani in the first place. They admitted to all the other artists they 'ripped off' (as Chris put it), they would've said if they took from a no-name guitarist looking for publicity and a free handout. It's funny how the song came out in JUNE and yet he waited until NOVEMBER to say anything. I don't buy that for a second. There's no way it took him that long to hear the song. Viva la Vida is the first Coldplay song to actually get as much commercial acclaim as it deserves- namely to be number one in countries around the world because it just is that great, as are many of their songs. If he hadn't heard it by that time- he must've been living in a cave in Nevada with no power or tv/internet/radio and only one plastic spork to eat with. Why would they give the songs they don't like to Appartjik. 1. that would be a hell of a lot of songs. 2. Only Guy is in that band out of all four of them. 3. Appartjik songs have a much different style than Coldplay one's do. If you ever listened to them they're a really great band but you can tell their lyrical compositions are very different stylistically as compared to Coldplay. So I'd say no chance for this. I like how you thought outside of the box on this- as everyone else was talking about the new album, the new album, the new album, the new album, the new album. But I can't help but think our fellow bro CPer's have a point. I personally don't mind talking about this because I firmly believe they are innocent and I've discussed it with so many people who hate them and know nothing about them that a friendly discuss among Coldplay fans about this is nothing close to upsetting or stressful. However, there are a lot of people who will probably get worked up over this and upset to brought back to the utter nonsense of his case. He's not 'Satan' like you said but he was a complete pee-wad the way he went about it/the MO he probably had behind taking legal action and this will well up bad feelings for several peeps I imagine. You have every to have made this thread. I just wouldn't be surprised if the reaction you get from a lot of CPers was less than ideal. No harm in expressing yourself but I think this had 'drama' written on it from the get-go.
  17. You should man. They're pretty great, no lie. [: They're not Coldplay-great but they're still in my top 5 favorite bands. Coldplay got a decent amount of influences from them early on- Parachutes especially.
  18. Same deal here. It seems kind of blandish and I hate how it's hard to hear Chris. :| For me the music is always the focal point but I hate it when I can't hear the singer. It makes me feel like I'm missing out on something and they're stifling the lyrics for some weird reason. Like they're secret or something and I'm not good enough to be allowed to hear them.. haha Sorry. My thoughts and cohesiveness get pretty freaking weird at 3 a.m. :S D'oh. I do hope you kid sir. :| You shouldn't make friends based on songs. Or even bands as a whole for that matter. One of my best friends absolutely loves Deftones, NIN, Marilyn Manson, and KoRn and a lot of heavy rock stuff and another listens to a lot of pop/hip-hop/rap like Jason Derulo, Katy Perry, Eminem, T.I. and Lil Wayne and neither really like Coldplay but that doesn't make them bad people. They're awesome at heart. And if you were joking than consider this whole part of my post basically moot point. :P
  19. [: We must have like telepathic minds! haha Not quite. Here it's almost 3 am. So if you count today as July 11, it's been 12 days- only 2 short of the 2 week benchmark Chris said. I had a bad feeling they wouldn't get it done that fast will all the tours and everything. :| But with this 11 day break from touring I think there's a pretty good chance they'll be able to wrap up a lot of the nuts and bolts and finalize a tracklist before July 22nd and the Itunes Festival comes around. I don't know how long it'll be before we get to know it (or the album title for that matter) but that's just what I was thinking (HOPING!!!). lol I hear you. And. That always sounded so fun to do!! I've never been on one though so I've never really been able to try it out.
  20. Dude wow! haha That's really weird man. [[: Imagine that? Ah. Well they are pretty quiet so I could see what you're saying. In that case, you saying that made my day. :D  Ohhh. And nothing silly. We all have that resistance to new music, you know? Really? Now that I really like 'Yes', 'Chinese Sleep Chant' is about the only song i don't really care for on the album. :P I respect the love for this song on this thread though. :nice: That's definitely a good point!
  21. What have I even done? ... And this is interesting... but I'm going to say it the last ten posts or so should maybe have a new thread where people can discuss however they feel about it. I don't see how it's related to Charlie Brown, you know? I'm just thinking about the people who want to talk about the song and whether or not it's the best and not what musical genre Coldplay is classified in. It might make matters easier. What do you think NumbersGirl? Just a suggestion if I may.
  22. You know- maybe it will be after all I mean, hey! They're free from any more concerts until the 22nd according to Coldplay.com. That means they have, what? 11 days ahead of them? Minus 1/2 for tour prep and 2 to rest up/relax a bit, that's still 8 days that they have free to work on the new material!!! YES! I think this is encouragingggg. Maybe they'll have the album all finished up, or at least the trackist (!!!!!!!!!!! :D) decided on, by the time they get back to touring and playing at the Itunes festival. We have hope again! :]]] Nuggetsssssssss.
  23. Their best song? I'd have to say not. It's really great but I'd have to hear a studio version before I could say that. As far as I'm concerned, it's almost impossible to beat the melody of "Clocks" so. That's another part of it. I have a personal bias towards pianos a little bit over guitars.
  24. :phu: :socks: I probably do that too much. :P In fact I know I do. lol Just ask violetsparks, she'll probably tell you I'm pretty ridic. about it. Which is true. But I can't help it. I just feel its bad enough to hear constant criticism about them no matter where the hell it is I am. It seems literally impossible to get away from. And to hear it on a Coldplay fan site just makes it x10 worse, because I thought this would be the one place I could escape all the negativity surround them. Apparently not... and I wouldn't have freaked out as bad and said it was the worst thing ever like I did except you coincidentally compared them to the 2 artists I dislike more than any others ever.
  25. Umm. Alright? I don't know what that means but I'm guessing you're suggesting it's something I should put in my signature? I have absolutely no idea. And I'm really not out to be a butthead or make you feel bad/upset in anyway. I just really disagree with what you said and if there's anything that gets me fired up, it's when people say something about Coldplay that I take to have a negative connotation. Even as sad as that might sound.
