  1. Cracking gig! Managed to get a signed set list and photo from Phil Harvey at the end. He was chilling in the sound mixing bit behind the X stage - really nice bloke too. :D :)
  2. A youth hostel in Croatia - ETIAW this summer.
  3. Oh okay. Where is that thread? I guess mods should delete this thread then, it's not fair on him to have this stuff over the internet.
  4. Chris' "Personal Issue" - ??? "Without going into too much detail Chris told everyone that the gig would be slightly shorter than planned thanks to a personal issue (I know there’s rumours floating around but I’m not going to repeat what he said, sorry) " Can anyone shed any light on this? I've done an extensive forum trawl but cannot seem to find out any more... Is it the issues with EMI? Is everyone ok etc?

  6. Are Coldplay in London at the moment? May pop on over to see if they're around...
  7. I've noticed he does seem to be extremely happy looking at the moment in his interviews, yes. He's a bit more chilled out these days I think. :)
  8. They no longer share profits equally. Source was an article on here a while back just after the first bits of MX news were surfacing. Their rule of never having anyone else but themselves singing on the album has been broken. They wouldn't split up anymore if a member took drugs/they don't ask about that stuff... "One thing that surprised me was when Nagui asked about the "no drugs" rules, they acted kind of weird. They were like "this rule doesn't exist anymore. we were young, it's a stupid rule blah blah" so Nagui asked if they take some stuff and they answered "we don't talk about that". Junkies haha !" http://coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79038&page=8 And of course, their music has changed a lot in MX. It has far more synth, it is much less acoustic, etc. Personally, I love all of their new songs. But... since their early days when they were fresh out of university, they've changed really quite a lot. I guess it is just a natural change, but the original "Coldplayness" seems to have gone a miss...
  9. Q. Hey Oracle! Just heard Paradise. ITS AMAZING!! Love it! But after, I saw news that Rihanna was going to be featured in Princess of China?? I heard the original via YouTube, and I LOVE IT AS IS. Is Rihanna going to be featured? Thanks! Lots of fangirl love! Kelly The Oracle replies: I've had a lot of mail about this since the news broke. The first time I heard POC it was just an instrumental. The second time I heard it Chris & Rihanna's vocals had been added. I have to say it sounds amazing. I then heard the band perform it live. I liked it a lot, but not quite as much. For me it was wise to drop it from the set because it simply didn't sound the same without Rihanna. It was written with her in mind so it makes perfect sense. When you hear it, you will see and hopefully agree. What are they doing. :o How can a live version be less good than a studio version? I mean, a live version portrays the band's raw emotion; how they feel it should be played. It gives the audience a chance to connect to a band in the purest form. I wish they used Florence or Delilah (from Chase and Status) to do the vocals; a soaring and piercing voice would suit Coldplay's style so much more. I hope they haven't fucked this up and gone too pop-y.
  10. True. But he allowed the lyrical incompetence of 'Paradise' - "para, para, paradise" on to the album. Ah well, I guess it fits in well with "um...brella, ella, ella". :shocked2: ETA - that's a bit harsh calling Chris lyrically incompetent. But I hope the band realise they've worried a lot of their long time, hardcore fans. :(
  11. Yes. Someone with a soaring, piercing voice. Or Delilah, used by Chase and Status ont heir track "Time". Not Rihanna. I mean, seriously? Coldplay aren't David Guetta or something like that?! I really, really hope this will work. But like many others, I am feeling a bit unsure a the prospect of Mylo Xyloto to be honest.
  12. I think for their next album they should do two things. 1) Only allow acoustic guitar, piano, drums, electric guitar and bass guitar. 2) Fire Brian Eno. I'm not a huge fan of the direction. I really didn't like VLV at all, I am liking this album a lot more, but still - it is all a bit too pop-y.
  13. This'll be the MX version of In My Place when they play it live. It's good. Not their best ever, but it's good.
  14. Is the Pope Catholic? Of course I'll be downloading it - especially to help it get to number one! :D
  15. I voted that it's too long, on the basis that it would be X&Y length. But like others have said, they hopefully almost certainly know what they're doing, so I hope my vote was the wrong choice! :)
  16. No Moving to Mars!? That's one of their greatest ever songs! Also surprising there are 14 songs - I thought Chris said in an interview he likes a maximum of ten songs on al album, as was the case with VLV? Aaaaaa cannot wait!
  17. NO MOVING TO MARS!? WTF? :( But, 14 songs - I thought Chris said he only likes albums with ten songs on, as was the case with VLV?
  18. Here's a bit more info: "In stark contrast to this vision is the image of a long blonde-haired boy, with a trusty tube of Pringles, a can of coke and an A4 notepad by his side, strumming away in the New York stairwell, due to its perfect acoustics. The boy was, of course, Chris Martin, with whom Terry had a special relationship; Terry used to lend him vinyls and Chris still pops by if he’s in the area. He recalls how despite being completely teetotal, Chris was larger than life, unlike Guy Berryman and Jonny Buckland who were quite timid. Yet with a name like Will Champion, Coldplay’s drummer could not shy away from social life. He was a keen hockey player and liked his beer." :D
  19. Hey guys. Some info on Chris at university; "In stark contrast to this vision is the image of a long blonde-haired boy, with a trusty tube of Pringles, a can of coke and an A4 notepad by his side, strumming away in the New York stairwell, due to its perfect acoustics. He was a keen hockey player and liked his beer. " From the security guard of Ramsay Hall, UCL - where they all met!
  20. What do you guys know about Chris and the other members when at university? I attend his university ATM, have been down the corridor he used to live on, etc. Even saw the piano they used to play on, and the staircase they'd jam on (on alternative levels, it has perfect acoustics apparently). According to the security officer in charge of the halls of residence (Ramsay), he'd often see Chris walking around with a can of Pringles and Diet Coke. He was quite hyper, and would never drink. I'll try and find a transcript of the interview, it was in a UCL magazine last year. Soo... anyone have any more info? Cheers!
  21. EDIT: Here's the video: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugYD5dq3ENY]YouTube - ‪Coldplay Glastonbury Interview 2011 HD‬‏[/ame] ___________________ In the interview with Jo Whiley on BBC 2 after the show, Chris and Will confirmed that it's currently around 85 minutes long, that they "never know when a record isl finished" and that it's their "summer project". :)
  22. Basically... - Chris looked overwhelmed and so happy. Will was cool and collected and looked really chuffed - He told a story about having braces which his mum forced him to get in 1997. he was heading back from Exeter to London on a train and loads of Radiohead fans came on to the train, and he was saying he had to hide his face the whole way. "I thought, "I'll never headline Glastonbury"" - He ran off with his beer (with ginger in it!) because he wasn't quite ready to re-watch and assess the performance. Excellent interview, oh and LP5 is 85 minutes long as it stands. It is their "summer project" to finish it off. :)
