  1. I want to believe this is a coincidence, but that would be two very big coincidences with 2 consecutive albums. Although they used a part of "I go to Rio" and got permission to use that for ETIAW. So why wouldn't they just do the same thing for Princess of China? Maybe Will Champion is right and every chord progression has been written before; all that changes is its style based on who's performing it.
  2. I think it will be 5 total: Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Paradise Princess of China Hurts Like Heaven Charlie Brown
  3. Charlie Brown. By a mile.
  4. Mylo Xyloto/Hurts Like Heaven Charlie Brown Us Against the World MMIX/Every Teardrop is a Waterfall Major Minus A Spell, A Rebel Yell <---I know it's a Viva B-Side, but I think it fits really well here UFO Moving to Mars A Hopeful Transmission/Don't Let it Break Your Heart Up With The Birds
  5. I disagree, I think its playfully dark melody/lyrics work nicely right after an optimistic anthem. One of the more clever things on the entire album.
  6. I gave it an 8/10. My only disappointments were paradise, POC, and UIF (didn't care for the lyrics but enjoyed the melodies). I love the strong narrative and thought everything else was fantastic. I had hoped for a more dark or Orwellian concept after I heard it was inspired partially by the White Rose movement, butI'm satisfied with the final outcome. Better than Parachutes, X&Y; not as good as Viva or AROBTTH.
  7. 1 - Viva la Vida 2 - A Rush of Blood to the Head 3 - Mylo Xyloto 4 - X&Y 5 - Parachutes
  8. I think they're still very concerned about winning over the masses: that's why they're playing all their new/unreleased material at festivals. Any band, if they aim to be successful, need to be concerned about this. And U2 is still the biggest band in the world. I think Coldplay would agree with that statement as well. Can Coldplay go to any corner of the world and sell out a 70,000 person stadium? They're definitely the heirs to the throne as kings of rock, but U2 still reign and will for a few more years. Furthermore, I feel that Coldplay's soul is shining as bright as ever with their new material. They have gotten better with every release: AROBTTH was better than Parachutes, X&Y was better than AROBTTH, VLV was better than X&Y, and I have no doubt LP5 will be better than VLV.
  9. They played earlier. It's a repeat while the crew is setting up for Coldplay.
  10. Really good quality live feed! 25 minutes to go. Today is a freaking awesome day. I can watch the Coldplay show and then walk down the street this evening for the U2 show in Seattle. #winning
  11. I disagree with this as well. VLV is their best album to date and, in my opinion, Coldplay has gotten better with each album. ETIAW is a promising start to a new era in the band's history and I have no doubt LP5 will be their best yet.
  12. I disagree. I think Eno's work on VLV was brilliant and hopefully LP5 will be even better. AROBTTH was nice, but a bit too acoustic and simplistic. It's nice to hear some complexity in these songs (without overdoing it) and I think Eno has helped Coldplay do this very well. If LP5 is as good as I hope it will be, I'm all for Eno sticking around for a bit.
  13. The guitar part is distinctly Jonny. It has those quick notes that he's freaking brilliant at (i.e. Brothers and Sisters, Strawberry Swing). Edge's style is slightly different. I can't fully explain it, but they are distinct from each other.
  14. Life in Technicolor ii Lost! Strawberry Swing Sleep Chant A Spell, A Rebel Yell
  15. U2 has reportedly finished recording their 13th studio album as well in collaboration with Danger Mouse as the producer. So, many expect that to be released by May as well. I wouldn't be surprised if LP5 came out around the same time.
  16. Coldplay and U2 will be two of the three headliners at Glastonbury this summer. It's all but officially announced. I have no idea who the third big act will be.
  17. I, for one, would like to hear all of the songs first before I choose which ones should be on LP5. ;-) I find it pointless to pick songs based on their titles. Although, I am betting that LP5 will have 11 tracks. And I base that guess on absolutely no information what-so-ever.
  18. Sounds promising. I'm crossing my fingers for a release date. Hey, you never know.
  19. Coming from a person who usually can't stand Christmas music: it was brilliant. I gave it a 9/10. It didn't quite "wow" me to give it 10/10, but it was nothing short of a spectacular song.
  20. I know U2 has a May release deadline to meet for their new album. It should be out before they start the next North American leg of their 360 tour in Mexico City in mid-May.
  21. I haven't had a chance to listen to the interview yet. Did they say something about releasing LP5 on February 9, 2011?
  22. There are rumors going around that Coldplay has booked some venues in the U.S. this upcoming summer (security and venue staffers leaking info, apparently). Why would they do that if a new album wasn't coming out early next year? I say LP5 comes out in a few months. March 2011 perhaps?
  23. I just don't see it. The Coldplay/U2 debate makes MUCH more sense to me than a Coldplay/A-ha comparison. A-ha never really went beyond being big for a couple years: they didn't reach a level of greatness that Coldplay already has. And they were never as big as Coldplay are now across the globe. Coldplay's style is based somewhat on U2 and Chris Martin has called U2 one of his biggest influences. U2 is the undisputed biggest band in the world (in terms of recognition and being able to sell out a full stadium in any corner of the globe). Coldplay is the only other band on the face of the Earth that could potentially pull that off. Is U2 the band it was musically back during the late 80's and early 90's? No, but they still make great music. Admit it, No Line on the Horizon (although not as good as Viva la Vida) was musically and lyrically better than most give it credit for. And their next album will (without question) surpass their last one (in terms of music, style, sales, everything). Coldplay keeps getting better and are possibly on the verge of their Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby, so to speak. I think there will soon be a "passing of the torch" from U2 to Coldplay when it comes to being the universally recognized biggest/greatest rock band in the world.
  24. I don't think U2's planned release will affect the release of LP5 at all, but it will be interesting to see how well they do released within a short time span of each other. U2 and Coldplay are the two biggest bands in the world. No one else is in that top tier. U2 has stated that their last album was a bit out of touch and have redoubled their efforts to make another great album. Viva was hugely successful and it will be interesting to see if LP5 can live up to the expectations. I can't wait for both of them to be released!
