  1. ^ Hahaha That's brutal and I love it (regardless of either album's quality)
  2. I have no idea about the single, but the record is seven straight albums that debut at #1. If AHFoD does it then we tie with The Beatles
  3. 1. Up&Up (8/10, live version is like 9.5/10. I can already tell this is going to be one of those songs where I hoard 15 different live versions) 2. A Head Full of Dreams (8/10 love the bridge and the ooh-ohh-ohhs) 3. Birds (7/10 best lyrics on the album, the ending makes me laugh) 4. Hymn for the Weekend (6.5/10 it's like PoC except better in every way, also dat bass) 4. Fun (6.5/10 didn't like this one at first, but I actually like Tove Lo's voice paired with Chris's) 4. Everglow (6.5/10 strangely enough, I feel like the live version is much better even though they sound exactly the same) 4. Kaleidoscope (6.5/10 best interlude since Life in Technicolor started the trend) 8. Adventure of a Lifetime (6/10 could be vastly improved with better lyrics and none of that dumb chopped up vocal stuff under the riff) 8. Amazing Day (6/10 very pretty, but never really did anything for me) 10. Army of One (3/10 the "heart is a gun" line is good, but that's the only good thing good about this) 11. Colour Spectrum (-/10 love the name, but can't really rank it) 12. X Marks the Spot (0/10 you know you messed up when you're ranked lower than a white noise interlude) Album rankings: 1. Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends 2. A Rush of Blood to the Head 3. X&Y 4. A Head Full of Dreams 4. Parachutes 6. Mylo Xyloto 7. Ghost Stories AHFoD-Kaleidoscope is great. The next stretch I don't really care for (Amazing Day is all right, but nothing special). Finishes strong with Up&Up. Lyrics are better than the last two albums--nothing like we got on the first four, a few great lines and a few instances of cheese. Jonny and Guy are spot on with their work on this one, but a few too many unnecessary production-y things going on for my taste (too many instances of chopped up vocals underlying the main riffs of the songs). Overall: 6.5/10 (for reference, X&Y gets 7/10, Rush gets 9/10, Viva gets 10/10)
  4. Hahaha, that's so cool if that's what that actually is!
  5. So I went to my local Walmart to pick up a physical copy . . . they didn't have a single one You know what they did have? Six racks dedicated to 25. *facepalm*
  6. ^ Yeah, I assume the preorder is the problem. It's probably set to not go through until midnight. Either way, it'll be there in the morning for me to listen to while pumping myself up for a presentation :P
  7. Huh. It's showing up on the iTunes front page under "new releases," but my pre-order status still just says "purchased"
  8. Just checked, not available in iTunes yet. It's only 10:45 here yet though
  9. *nods* I would rather get one album on par with Viva or ARoBttH after a few-years-long hiatus than 2-3 mediocre albums in that same timeframe.
  10. One of my all-time favorite songs, period. An epic 9.5-minute piano ballad that is honestly on par with greats like The Scientist
  11. *madly closes and reopens iTunes even though it's not even close to midnight yet* C'mooon album!
  12. lol Moses played the tambourine on Up&Up :D
  13. Now now, we of all people should understand that sometimes people just have different tastes than us ;)
  14. Do we have confirmation on low numbers? I haven't heard anything either way, to be honest
  15. Fair enough, unfortunately. We have the potential for Beyonce if they perform Hymn though *shrugs*
  16. This could be an interesting performance. It's traditional for the artist to perform a medley, no? We could see a mashup of 3-4 songs. I think if Coldplay really wants to be successful at this, they're going to have to balance some of their rockier singles with some of their poppier ones. Pure ASFoS/HFtW/Paradise and you lose a lot of the older viewers, pure Clocks/Yellow/Violet Hill songs and you miss the younger generations. Although, just judging by my experience with football, a lot of fans swing more toward the rocky side. Obviously they're going to have to put some thought into this if they want to be well-received (see Twitter blowing up with complaints already. Really, people? You complain about Coldplay but not Katy Perry?). The best setlist I could see them pulling off would be: Clocks, Violet Hill, then a song from among Viva/AHFoD/Adventure and ASFoS/Paradise/Hymn. That gives them a classic song, a rock song, a rock/pop jamfest, and a more pure pop-oriented song
  17. I'm off to do actual work now haha Great listening in on this with all of you, as always! T-minus 10 hours until the album drop!
  18. Then I'd better be there when it happens or I will be sad and bitter forever lol
  19. Jonny's solo You might as well just bury me six feet under right freaking now
