Everyone percieves things differently. In my opinion, Chris' indifferentness can bring positive aspects into their music. In art, when you don't care about criticism, you express yourself more freely. There is no fear of letting show all your emotions and ideas and thus, your work becomes raw and powerful. I worry for other things, like lack of ideas and inspiration.

Wow I heard the youtube live version (it's gone now and the quality was bad). I don't know why someone compared it to being a mixture of paradise and charlie brown because it sounded like pure dance music to me. It reminded me of 'We Found Love' by Riahanna a lot. This song has it all to be a massive hit, especially in European countries, but remember that just because it has electronic synths, it doesn't mean it will rule the charts. Princess of China was the most electronic of MX and it didn't do better than Paradise.

On spotify USA it got to number 1 today!! That was unexpected for me..

Coldplay is No 5 in top artists (everywhere) on Spotify, and Magic is No 6 in Top tracks (everywhere).

I don't think there will be another ghost stories 2 right after. An EP might be possible in the near future, but what I'm really expecting is that they'll release more b-sides and lp7 will be released in no more than 2 years. I remember reading an NME article at the beginning of last year that they started working on ghost stories already, and also remember how the latin American tour got canceled unlike in the viva la vida tour where it finished until 2010!!!! I think they had a lot of working time on this occasion, so I would be very disappointed if we get only 9 songs with no b-sides, and then have to wait 3 or more years for lp7.

Why does the song need an exploding climax? Coldplay has done a lot of songs like that, it would get old to keep using the same formula over and over. Coldplay has managed to create a balance actually. This is why they have stayed relevant after almost 15 years. Some of their albums gained them fans, some didnt, some lost them, and some gained them back again, but the media and all their fans never know what to expect next.

Wow this album is great so far. Always in my head could fit anywhere in the first three albums. Im afraid I will ruin my perception for the rest of the songs because I have very high expectations right now. Hopefully they're as good as the ones we've heard so far. Also, I want another song like midnight....I can't wait :smug:

So far im very pleased with midnight and magic. I think this album is gonna be one of their best.....and so far im loving the sound. Its like a combination of all their albums. The two songs are like a fusion of the simplicity of parachutes, the melancholy of a coldplay song, and the electronic side of Mylo Xyloto. Coldplay purists are gonna hate me for this, but Coldplay's sound gets better and better by each album.

Midnight is just as good as those songs #sorrynotsorry

I have this feeling american CASUAL listeners are tired of coldplay. Paradise was huge many countries, but on billboard it only got to 14 or 15 despite being promoted everywhere...tv shows, grammys, movies.. So far the two songs we've listened have been very solid, that being said, in case if the album gets a lot of positive reviews, then I think is gonna be like the rush of blood era. The album is gonna sell well, but it's not gonna do so well on single charts.

Hes like: "who cares if you like green day? Who cares if you like coldplay" " this (reaggeton) is straightfoward without stopping, 'one way'. *The song is a response to all the criticism that reaggeton has. It was really famous in most spanish speaking countries. Also notice how green day and coldplay rhyme better in spanish accent lol

This is like their "yellow". It was their first hit.

Everyone has their own opinion, and I agree with yours. I respect U2 though.

When I first discovered coldplay, I thought the catchy piano hooks were what defined this band, but now, in my opinion, it's Chris Martin's voice what makes Coldplay unique.

Jay-Z or Kanye West would be the best. Chris Martin knows how to make beats (e.g. Paradise, Lost!), and both rappers love coldplay. I would really hate if they do a collab with another known/similar band like Mumford and Sons, Keane, Snow Patrol, etc. It's better when guests add something interesting like Princess of China did (yeah I liked this song get over it)

Yeah I think is too early to have a concrete idea at this point unless they had some of the songs finished then yeah that would be dissapointing. But let's be aware that at this point even if the guys themselves say they have an idea for LP6, it may happen that either they don't like it or it develops differently. I remember when the band said that MX was gonna be an acoustic record, and it turned out to be a very different approach.

I don't think Jonny was being serious. His words seem sarcastic to me; nevertheless, I really like the fact that they're back at the studio.

Maybe they have the title for the album already, but I don't think they have any songs finished. For now, the guys are just brainstorming at the studio, so I don't see nothing strange here.

In other words, something that radiohead would make. I'm eager.
