I think Coldplay need to take Hurts Like Heaven and use it as a model for their new material. It is hands down the best song off MX because it's very diversified and fresh-- it is not repetitive at all, which is what I think sets it apart from fan favorites like Charlie Brown or DLIBYH or ETIAW etc. I honestly don't know what to expect from LP6, but Coldplay, if you are returning to a previous sound, don't do MX. But, at the same time, Coldplay are smart. I'm sure I'll enjoy anything they put out.

I understand that the stuff in my wishlist probably won't happen. Those are fantasy/ideal scenarios, for a lack of better phrasing. And as fanboyish as it sounds, its almost impossible for me to be disappointed with a Coldplay album.

Politik and GPASUYF are obvious choices, but what about Yes?

LP6 Wishlist: -Chris and piano alone (eg UATW at the 12 12 12 concert) -Will and acoustic guitar alone (maybe a 1 minute interlude) -More songs formatted like HLH (verse chorus solo ×2 then guitar outro) -More piano songs -NO FEATURING ARTISTS (I'm looking at you, RiRi) -Diversity in the percussions (VLVODAAHF) -More of Chris's lower register (Yes) -A song with rapidly delivered lyrics (eg HLH or Antichrist Television Blues by Arcade Fire) -Keep it under 50 minutes -At least one 5+ minute song That's it :)

Lovers In Japan was the last song written for VLV, and we saw MX go in that sort of direction. Up In Flames was the last song written for MX. Maybe LP6 will be more piano-driven and more stripped back.

We all probably want or are expecting perfection from LP6, because we know Coldplay have done it before (AROBTTH, VLVODAAHF-- take your pick). But I know Coldplay are smart, so really, whatever they put out I know it will be dominating my iPod for the next 3 years. While most Coldplayers agree, MX is not their best album, I still find myself loving songs like HLH, Paradise, CB, ETIAW, MM, UiF, MtM, etc. So I'm just excited to see what they do next because I know that I'll be happy.

Look, we're all pointing out amazing bass lines and we're all probably going "Oh yeah! I love the bass in that one!" That's the nature of bass lines in Coldplay songs at least: they're great if you look for them.

HLH's bass is more subtle but I like it.

Who cares though? Why would anyone care how passionate any fan of coldplay is. People can be as involved or detached as they want.

How do people not hear the bass in MX? For me, Paradise, Major Minus, Hurts Like Heaven, Charlie Brown, and ETIAW (at least at the end) have great basslines. Personally, I've never found MX to be lacking bass. In fact, my favorite part of Paradise and Major Minus is the bass.
