  1. Yeah ok. Im sorry, shouldve thought more about the word 'popact'. Of course they are a band, even though the last album didnt have a very clear band sound. But I just mean pop band really. And pop as in: simple, popular and more commercial music. At least.. many singles are. Yes, people that are into mainstream bands will come up with those bandnames. Coldplay fits in there. But they also now fit with the most popular stuff because of their pop singles. People that dont know anything else than pop/rnb, katy perry and the rest, like sky full of stars/paradise. These people will not even know Muse.
  2. Ok. Still they are part of the alternative music scene. They are a band band. Whereas coldplay is now more of a popact. People that like happy, blurred lines whatever.. will (most of them) like magic, sky full of stars and paradise. There are too many pophits now.
  3. In you i have trust :p The company pushing them to work with avicii? Nahh.. but about their roots: i dont know how that will happen in the next few years. They look at music in a different way now. They are writing the next album with the next big tour in mind, which will have to be entertaining and fun. If they keep on listening and be inspired by top40 music, they will not become more alternative. There really first has to change something here. I never hear chris talk about any upcoming songwriter/band. Its always about what cool now, what big, popular with young people. (Which i find so zzzz) Maybe when they are really getting older, the kids are older.. they realise they want to go down in history with some more mature music. Dont really listen to Muse, but i know theyre not a band thats become more of a pop act. Theyve always been alternative.. right?
  4. Is this realistic thinking? :p
  5. ? Similar genre: Rihanna/Coldplay!? Im not following here. No more POC plse :( - - - - - - Anyway, back to LP7. I think its really cool that Chris has been performing now twice with the kings of leon. The piano on the Talihina song sounds so wonderful. :) Just a thought, could J.Lawrence be an influence in some way.. I read that her favourite bands are the black keys and mumford & sons. I believe Gwyneth was much more into popular music. I dont know how much effect a woman can have on CM but Jennifer might push chris a little towards his alternative songwriting side.
  6. Halleluja! Guitars, real instruments = organic music please. Cant say it enough. Thats when Coldplay is at its best.
  7. Well.. at the time when mx came out they were still trying to compete with bands who in there mind already released their 'top' album.. which apparently they didnt do yet.. (? Rush of blood guys?) and they still wanted to be better, make better music. Although, mx does not exactly represent that, but ok. Now i'm not so sure what their drive is. They dont really care about what anyone thinks. Sounds strange to me. How can you not care about what your fans think.. people that have been listening/suppporting for years. They seem to now care most about their big stadium shows, having fun and also they like to make their kids happy with their music. And and.. they seem to be inspired mostly now by top 40 rihanna & the rest. This it what tells me: at this point in their careers there will be at least one other happy poppy overproduced album. Oh btw: oohh please nooo more edm! Thank you! If I can have a little say about the next step, then the best thing would be: strip down the production.. raw & pure. Live they can still do whatever they want with it, make it bigger sounding etc.. surprise the audience.
  8. Thank you. Probably will be another bombastic loud album with a lot of production, stadium whooahooo singalongs, because they just want to entertain and CM wants to dance. Well.. alright.. good for the big stadium shows. I will enjoy the show for sure. But I will again feel its not really about the music and a lot of the tracks will be of a more temporary quality. It wont stay with me, I will not embrace the music like the first 4 albums. I hope they will release some kind of ep one day or a full (double!) album with lost tracks, with many pure/natural coldplay songs. Interesting & timeless.. sigh..
  9. Thank you. I read far too many times on this forum, that people find GS very much to be like Parachutes.. How on earth... can they be on the same level: Spies, Dont panic, Sparks, yellow vs. Ink, anothers arms, magic, sky full of stars.. omg! I can imagen that people love GS, relate to it... feel it's more special than MX, but seriously.. can we stop putting these 2 together. Parachutes is nostalgic, memorable, true, honest, raw, classic, clean, just one of the best debuts albums ever. Every song on it is incredible, it's music that you just embrace, that get this special place in your heart. GS is nice, but the songs dont compare, most are a lot weaker. And yes, it's missing classics. GS would have been stronger if the production would have been more raw. I love the version Chris did from Always in my head at Sirius FM. Very beautiful, so much better without the glossy polishing.
  10. Uhm yeah, nothing wrong there. Find it very funny lol. Watch this (starts of kinda wrong, but keep on watching), maybe you'll understand this ice bucket thing a lot more: [video=youtube;h07OT8p8Oik]
  11. Well it does raise awareness I guess. Was wondering about the money too, but it seems this crazy thing is raising 'buckets' of dollars because of the challenge, in only a few days: http://time.com/3136458/viral-als-ice-bucket-challenge-funds-raised-15-million/ People do the challenge + donate if they can, and the famous donate of course big money.
  12. Lol, silly 'hype' but of course good cause. It's become a big thing and it seems that all celebs are accepting the challenge. Chris has probably heard about his nominations, many times now from other (famous) people. Maybe he has a cold, or just some other reason. Or he really doesnt feel comfortable about doing it. I cant see how it can have a bad effect on any rumours. How is that possible. This only does good for anyone's reputation. It will look bad if he seems to completely ignore this charity thing. At least he/Coldplay should just donate a nice amount of money and share it through social media.
  13. Okay, whats going on in here. The last thing it tells me is that theyre splitting up.. it doesnt make any sense to me at all. The guys love their job.. and what else are they going to do at (then) age 40? Thats still very young. Its just the start of a new area.. im not worried about them stopping. Im more worried about them becoming a very overly commercial formula pop act with temporary music.
  14. http://media.vara.nl/player.php?id=318187
  15. Hmm, that just sounds awful to me :( how can a band ever create what they really want, what is really from the heart. Sometimes I wish they didn't get so big. The guys are so talented!
  16. ^ hihi Thanks & yes, they opened many doors to other great music. Thanks Coldplay!
  17. True, its an edge or something thats missing. The music is more pop, crispy clean produced and less alternative. And most of the melodys just dont grab me. And if you're always looking for good new music, and you are like me being blown away by for example the new War on drugs album, then GS just really becomes uninteresting and underwelming. You cant really compare music but you can compare what it does to you. I keep on listening to other music + CPs older music. So i bought GS and a few weeks later I just listen to the bonus tracks and sometimes 2/3 songs on the actual album. Coldplay fans really are 'the best' arent they? ; p Oh right, this thread is about LP7 :) maybe we should send them some inspiration like the album I just mentioned!
  18. Ow gawd. Even more edm music is just going to scare me and many other 'oldie' fans away. It feels like such a easy uninspired way of making a big hit. It will sound dated soon and it surely will never end up being a classic. Even though I would just want them to sound like a band again with mostly pure/natural sounds, im also ok with more indie/experiental music like midnight, just anything not trying to sound like the most popular chart music like edm, hiphop rnb etc and no overdone production please oh please oh please. But this will be a problem, because they are inspired mostly by all these most popular artists/producers.. it seems. Someone should send them some other music!
  19. Trouble at top of the pops. I was a teenager and still into other (bad popgroup) music but it did grab my attention and I dont know how but it somehow stuck with me. Even the presenter who said this band is going to be great or something like that. I dont remember any other performances from artists that i wasnt in to.. quite interesting.. It took 5 years before I really started listening to coldplay. Btw. Ive been trying to find this performance. Does anyone have it?
  20. Its gorgeous. Finally a song again that I just can't get enough of.
  21. Haha. Even better: I would buy it straight away! Bought this song too. :)
  22. Ohh this should be leaked! Edit: ahum 'released' of course :)
