Well that's good! I wish people were as optimistic as you! I think this says something though: If the effects are really getting the fans nervous, then they must really care about the song. That's awesome in itself! Hurts Like Heaven IS a masterpiece. I think people realize that, and they don't want it to be messed up!!! Same goes for Charlie Brown, which (effects or not) is still going to be their biggest hit... well, in my opinion it will be.

^ I mean, that's why I listen to Coldplay! They're original and creative. They said Brian Eno had a lot to do with this album... so if it (the album) gets messed up I'm blaming it on his ridiculously omnipresent interference in this band's music writing technique.

I heard a lot of effects on the backing vocals, but that's about it. If you listen, the backing vocals on ETIAW have a lot of effects but Chris's voice doesn't. I just hope the vocal effects don't make their voices sounds like autotuned robots. There's no intimacy in music that's produced to the point where the instruments might as well be synthesizers.

You know, I personally like the name Cartoon Heart better, although Charlie Brown is pretty cool.

Out of the two over-produced songs I've heard from the LP5 era (ETIAW and PoC), PoC definitely is WAYYYY better-- It's WAYYY more catchy, and WAYY more creative. I seriously hope the studio versions of the new songs we've heard aren't completely screwed up, like what they did with Major Minus. Major Minus's studio version is cool, but when the live version blows it completely out of the water, something's wrong. VERY wrong.

It's the second song, so I guess you'll either have to find it through fast forwarding, or just listen to Viva... BUMMER! =D

So I found the best version of Charlie Brown. It seems that they overlayed synthesizers on top of the guitar, and although you may be skeptical of that it actually makes it WAY BETTER!!! I guess so, but then why even release a single (ETIAW) in the first place if you don't know yourself whether it'll be on the album or not? Maybe they just wanted to see how everyone thought of it before they narrowed down a tracklisting...

I bet you ETIAW won't be on it. I'm honest. I know they made a video and everything, but the fact they haven't said directly that it WILL be on the album is good enough evidence! It's not even a confirmed single for the fifth album, it's like a single for the fifth album era .

I'd totally be fine if either of these were the actual album designs. They're amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOTHING CAN EXPLAIN IT!

I think the live version is way better but the studio version is still awesome!! I prefer no vocal effects, but I still love MM!!!!!! :D

I hope LP5 isn't over-produced... I think the striped-down approach is awesome. Coldplay should stick to it because the live version of Major Minus completely kicked the studio version's butt. And, I'm a huge fan of Coldplay and I like EVERY one of their songs... except for ETIAW. I'm not just saying that because it just came out and it hasn't grown on me, I genuinely think it's their most over-produced recording to date. It doesn't have any lyrical value compared to their other songs. The video is awesome, and the performances are spectacular, but the song in general... isn't as satisfying as their previous huge singles. I mean, can you really compare ETIAW to Viva? Or Violet Hill? Speed of Sound? Talk? Fix You? Clocks? In My Place or Yellow? I don't think the song should be on the album because I think it'll take away from other super amazing songs like Hurts Like Heaven and Charlie Brown (which will probably be my new favorite Coldplay song). And god... I hope the studio versions of those songs aren't over-produced... I think Coldplay tortures themselves with being self-conscious to the point when they can't release an album till it's up to their standards. I hope these new songs aren't 'tweaked' and altered to the point of no return... Sorry I'm being a bit conservative with this comment.
