  1. ^^ It feels like I've been waiting for a 100 years already!!!! :( I'm still positive they'll say something this week though. FINGERS CROSSED!!
  2. ^ Me too!! I'm not saying it sucks-- I'm just saying the singles that ended up coming from the album kind of made Coldplay a household name.
  3. ^^ WOW DUDE!!! :D I'm sorry if I made you feel like you had to write a novel lol I hope I can someday write an analysis like that!!! You've certainly made me appreciate ETIAW a lot more. I said this in another discussion, but I think it fits here to: During the last bit of touring for Parachutes, Coldplay played some unreleased material for their second album. The songs they played were Animals and In My Place, which are awesome songs, but they weren't as big as Clocks or The Scientist. I think there's still some unreleased material from LP5 that is MUCH stronger than Charlie Brown (and ETIAW), so I think that's what is exciting... otherwise I can't really argue against you anymore.
  4. Before A Rush of Blood came out, Coldplay was playing In My Place and Animals at concerts while they were still touring for Parachutes in later 2001 (according to Wikipedia). Obviously those didn't become the most popular Coldplay songs... well In My Place did, but later on it was found to be no match to Clocks, The Scientist and God Put A Smile Upon Your Face. I can guarantee that there is material they haven't released yet that is stronger.
  5. I wouldn't mind if they left out UATW and ETIAW! The more new material the better!
  6. Princess of China is gonna be AMAZING!!!! :D :D :D !!!!!
  7. No one***** Wow I'm stupid!!! :P
  8. Well I think you're entitled to say that you don't personally think it's their best hit. There's nothing wrong with that. I don't think we should venture on to say how successful it'll be though, because we obviously don't know... I think, though, it's pretty fair to say (after the amount of attention it's been getting from fans) that it's by far the favorite out of the new songs played and therefore might be a potential hit single. Using that logic, I think fans have justifiably surmised it's potential outcome, but when you project the single's success on your own opinion, it doesn't hold much water because 1) know one truly knows it's outcome and 2) if everyone already likes it A LOT, then why would you ignore that? A single's success is based on the majority of people liking it. We'll just see how it goes. I'll somewhat agree though. Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall doesn't have a chorus, and it lacks much progression in the song. It's not very catchy to boot... which is what Charlie Brown has. Charlie Brown has a super catchy guitar riff and the lyrical value of that song supremely pwns ETIAW.
  9. God I wish it was on the album. That song is so gooooood!!!!!
  10. I think backing tracks are completely justifiable, but it just depends on the extent to which they're used. The backing tracks to Yellow and The Scientist are relatively sublime, but on most Viva songs, they're pretty... defined. I think it just depends on what is necessary. Jonny plays the violin's part on one of the live versions of Yes and it fits perfectly. I think if you change some of the parts, the backing tracks won't be needed. On the other hand, do you really expect them to NOT use backing tracks on Viva? Maybe in some later concerts they'll evolve with Viva and maybe do a really cool acoustic version. As long as they're not using auto-tune and they're actually playing instruments, what is there to complain about? Coldplay uses their backing tracks sparingly. They're usually just an aesthetic/atmospheric enhancer, not a stand alone instrumental role.
  11. I noticed it! You can really notice the synthesizers in this one too! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNiA_Zjydyw&feature=related]‪(HD) Coldplay - Viva La Vida / Charlie Brown / life is for living Live on Rock Werchter 2011‬‏ - YouTube[/ame]
  12. Are you crazy!? They haven't given up on it! That'd be suicide!!!
  13. That's the best! I fell asleep to the whole parachutes album for like 5 nights in a row and now they're all above 130 plays! (some people consider that cheating, but I was dreaming with their songs playing so I must've been enjoying them too).
  14. LOOK UP, I LOOK UP AT NIGHT PLANETS ARE MOVING AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT!!!! :D :D :D :D
  15. 1) See You Soon 314 2) Spies 235 3) Don't Panic 224 4) Shiver 213 5) Death And All His Friends 200 6) Yellow 183 7) High Speed 168 8) Trouble 165 9) We Never Change 163 10) Sparks 160 :D :D :D :D :D !!!!!
  16. I hope it's like Amsterdam!!
  17. Viva has the same riff throughout the whole song...
  18. This one time, at band camp, we, like, heard news about Coldplay's new album. It's was pretty cool.
  19. I know!!! Guy Berryman is just begging to give away that album for some Gwyneth!
  20. That is an awesome picture!!!! :D
  21. They have like, what? 16 songs they still haven't performed yet? I'm positive they're saving some really good ones JUST for the album's release! This EP thing was actually quite genius. Coldplay's been gone for a while, so they release ETIAW (that's good but not too memorable) just to get people's attention and talking about Coldplay again, they play some new stuff live, and then they wait. This builds up suspense. Obviously Chris Martin and Co. think that Charlie Brown is going to be the biggest hit because they're endorsing it on Jimmy Kimmel.
  22. I noticed that too!!! I'm so excited because it really makes the song AMAZING!! That video is amazing BTW. You can really hear the synthesizers and the effects.
