  1. The part during the bridge(?) where he sings something like "fall so far" reminds me of another Coldplay song, but I can't remember which...
  2. Imagine if we got that. With a b-side. Sweet memories of... 2008/9.
  3. needs more guitar
  4. I wasn't keen on MX either, I'm just saying regardless of the quality of the new songs, they sound nothing like the first two albums.
  5. Yes. They need to bring in Eno in a major capacity again like they did with Viva, otherwise the next album might be 100% synths and cheese.
  6. I don't understand how anybody can hear Parachutes or AROBTTH in Always In My Head or Another's Arms...
  7. Way better than Midnight... even if it does sound like they nicked Eno's 'Deep Blue Day' and left it running in the background ;)

I'm not all that bothered by the harmonizer, but what grinds my gears is the lack of guitar. If this is indeed meant to be a "big" song for the album, then that'll make Coldplay one in a line of major guitar acts (Radiohead some time ago now, Muse, indie groups like Vampire Weekend and to a lesser extent Maximo Park) switching guitars for synths- and there's nobody filling the gap to create new guitar music! Jon Hopkins does nice production but I feel like the songwriting here really suffers for the lack of analogue instrumentation. It's just a collection of nice sounds. I hope it isn't representative of the album as a whole. Lots of people are saying this is a "non-commercial" song for them to release, but really, using only electronics is the most mainstream thing they could have done.
  9. But... no singles means no b-sides!
  10. Seconded. All of this. We need guitars!!
  11. Early 2015 wouldn't surprise me. If you take into account the label probably want like 6 months of press and hype beforehand, plus the fact we don't know if the band have actually started recording all that much or if they're still very much in the writing process, I think next Spring for a new single is very optimistic. (I just hope longer time = more b-sides this time!!)
  12. I don't mind what LP6 is as long as it has more electric guitar.
  13. This is why we need CD singles still!! B-sides!! Rush Of Blood era has some of the best, definitely.
  14. The atmospherics are are good, and there's a lot of bass from Guy which is always awesome, lyrics are a bit meh but w/e, gave it 7/10. NEEDS. MORE. GUITAR.
  15. I predict the album will be released on a Monday...
  16. Which makes it all the more a shame that we only got one b-side from the MX era. And it was excellent, too... makes you wonder what other fantastic material they're sitting on just because it doesn't fit the 'style' of the album and stuff :P Hopefully somebody from EMI will leak their vaults one day or something XD I never understand when record companies get annoyed about people leaking/pirating unreleased material, it's not like they were going to make money from it anyway...
  17. THIS. It's so unlikely it's unbelievable, and I don't know if here in the UK they even manufacture CD singles anymore, but good grief I would buy the heck out of those.
  18. Yeah there's definitely a trend, I'd actually be more surprised if there isn't a painted background for this one. Perhaps something modern-art-ish. In terms of the lyrics, they originally said MX was going to partially be about "working for someone you don't like". I reckon that will come up now in LP6 instead- VLV and MX both had themes of revolution involved.
  19. I think the only majorly unforgiveable thing about this era, in the end, was the intensely glaring lack of b-sides. Moving To Mars was instantly a favourite for me... as somebody who collects CD singles, it makes me sad there hasn't been any since 2009 by ANY band for me to buy...
  20. Whenever it comes out, I hope they go in one of two directions with the music: 1. More artsy and avant-garde, stuff like Famous Old Painters and Lukas, like Viva era but brighter and lighter in sound 2. Stripped down, rockier Violet-Hill-esque stuff, like U2 did with "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" However I reckon it's likely they'll do something acoustic and pastoral. Just hope they don't try and make something even more bombastic than Mylo Xyloto, that straddled the edge but if they try to go any more poppy it just would not work.
  21. Bring back guitar music (to the mainstream). And FAST.
  22. Twisted Logic? Pour Me? Your World Turned Upside Down? God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, otherwise.
  23. More bass GUITAR.
