  3. their record deal is up. could be a big change of direction after that. and chris said that coldplay will be out of a job soon in one of the bbc interviews last week, meaning the record deal is up.

  9. Ed Sheeran's parents piss off chris: pissing off chris? hahaa! that's something I'd like to see.
  10. seems coldplay already have been there today and recorded ASFOS. so no live performances tomorrow. x chris was seen performing white christmas backstage: x finally, an interview conducted today. but i can't play the video for some reason. http://www.nrj.fr/artistes-509/fiches-artistes-522/artiste/actu/551-coldplay.html?actu_id=321191_coldplay-ce-ne-sera-pas-leur-dernier-album-
  11. Lorde, Lana Del Rey, Coldplay, Glen Campbell, Patti Smith Among Oscar Song Contenders 79 songs qualify for Oscars, four more than last year Coldplay, singer-songwriter Lorde and Lana Del Rey, country icon Glen Campbell and punk priestess Patti Smith are among the contenders for the Oscar for Best Original Song, the Academy announced on Friday. Their songs were part of a list of 79 eligible songs that was released by the Academy, four more/less than last year's total of 75. Coldplay is eligible for “Miracles,” a song from the Angelina Jolie film “Unbroken.” Lorde wrote and performs “Yellow Flicker Beat” from “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One.” Del Rey wrote and performed the title track from “Big Eyes.” Campbell co-wrote and sings the lament “I'm Not Gonna Miss You” from “Glen Campbell…I'll Be Me,” a documentary about his fight against Alzheimer's. And Smith wrote “Mercy Is,” a lullaby sung by Russell Crowe in “Noah” and repeated in a closing-credits version by Smith. Other songs include a new tune written for the musical “Annie” by Sia, and two songs from Richard Linklater‘s “Boyhood.” Only one song was submitted from “Begin Again,” the music-filled movie directed by John Carney. His last film, “Once,” contained the Oscar-winner “Falling Slowly,” and his new one had a number of songs that could have qualified. But only “Lost Stars,” sung in the film in different versions by Adam Levine and Keira Knightley, was submitted. The animated film “Rio 2” qualified four songs, while “If I Stay,” “Million Dollar Arm,” “Muppets Most Wanted” and “Rudderless” each qualified three. Members of the music branch will be sent a DVD containing the scenes in which all of the eligible songs are used, and will vote for their favorites after viewing that compilation. (Or presumably viewing it – they're on the honor system.) Nominations will be announced on Jan. 15. see the full list here
  12. :laugh3: be careful, the 1D fan girl wrath will hunt you down.
  13. how come this is not nominated for a golden globe? ohh well.. great song to fit the mood of the movie. i think we are forgetting that important fact. this song was specifically written for a movie thematically and musically. could be or could not be indicative of lp7. but, the main purpose of the song is to soundtrack a particular movie.
  14. look for the latest registrations based on the assigned number. there are a lot of older tracks in there.
  15. ok, as much as i don't like asfos, what makes you all think that lp7 would be EDM-ey? nothing to suggest that. and since avicii has already done that in GS, i don't think they would go for another song in the same line. at least i hope they won't. but they have done this before with clocks and speed of sound. then again this is a very different thing since collaborating with avicii WAS the not safe thing for coldplay to do, as evidenced by most of this thread. also i agree with whoever said that just doing a good guitar based song will be considered very safe for coldplay, and it is. so there is a chance they will go for something different. let's hope the results are better and more left-field that asfos was.
  16. Gwen Stefani wants Chris Martin collaboration. link
  17. an amazing review: Coldplay, BBC Radio Theatre: 'still at height of their powers' Despite talk of their disbanding, Chris Martin and Co remain at the top of their game Coldplay have been in the news this week with reports that their next album might be their last. I imagine certain curmudgeonly rock fans will be cheering at the prospect, although, on this evidence, even the hardest hearted critic will miss them when they are gone. Who else is going to deliver those epic songs that tug the heartstrings and fill the rafters, smashing together the sonic ambition of 21st Century post-Radiohead electronic art rock with the classic melodic songcraft of Paul McCartney? Love them or hate them, people are rarely indifferent to songs that, once heard, you cannot get out of your head. Coldplay have had one of the biggest successes of 2014 with their smallest scale work, a subdued, lovelorn, moody set about surviving a broken heart. Actually rather intimate and lovely, Ghost Stories doesn't boast the quartet's usual anthemic gusto but in live performance it gains another dimension. The sincerity essential to everything Coldplay do invests these songs with real emotional heft, bringing a quality of sharp focus to a sound that might otherwise drift towards chill out ambience. Coldplay are often characterised as soft or weedy but there is a grit and grain to their performance that makes their emotional core unsentimentally effective. There's usually not much call for all the bells and whistles of stadium rock on radio but Coldplay packed the room with lasers and confetti, turning the small BBC theatre into a fairy grotto Santa would have been dazzled by. There is more to Coldplay than production values, however. With a backline of six keyboards and other synth gadgets that various members deploy, the sound is heavily electronic, with even Johnny Buckland's guitar so effects laden it barely sounds like a string instrument. But they play with the muscular charisma of a rock band, driven by demon drummer Will Champion and linking with the unity and personality of a gang. Chris Martin is a star with an unusually relaxed presence for a rock frontman but also a real sense of being present. He holds the attention, vocally and physically, but Coldplay is a group who play like they belong together, creating a sound bigger, lusher and more physical than seems possible from just four individuals. At their last gig of the year, Martin joked about all the members agreeing to do one more album before pursuing other careers as extras in Game of Thrones or participating in the world bagpipe championship in Stoke on Trent. I'd be very surprised if it is really the end of the affair. This is a group at the height of their powers who looks and sound like they are having a lot of fun together. Long may they continue to do so. link this just reminded me how big they are still almost 20 years into their career. and arguably, coldplay weren't selling GS anywhere near as hard as for the other albums.
  18. i think people are talking conceptually lp7 will be gs2. makes sense with jonny's comment on lp7 being the day to gs' night. but musically, i think it will be poppy and happy :)
  19. here it is http://www.bbc.co.uk/events/ec3wrz
  20. we should be able to watch the q&a with hola since it is streamed over the website. no idea about the live show. can you share the one show link?
  21. and now some lyrics from the same guy: also described as simple, lilting <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Coldplay?src=hash">#Coldplay</a>'s haunting piano/guitar ballad <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Unbroken?src=hash">#Unbroken</a>: "When I look into your eyes/I forget all about what hurts/Oh, now I'm floating...so high</p>— Glenn Lovell (@CinemaDope) <a href="https://twitter.com/CinemaDope/status/541742033887444994">December 7, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
  22. i am looking forward to the song too. the golden globe nominees will be announced this 11th. and i think there is a high chance of a nomination there. chris has been doing interviews with golden globe voter journalists too. so i think we'll definitely get the song and some major press this week. not to forget that chris will officially perform the song at an unbroken press event on the 14th. by then, i would assume the song would be out.
  23. seems like the band is crazy busy these days, which is always good news! and, awards chris posted this link: imagine a meeting like this! crazy! http://block-island.villagesoup.com/p/coldplay-frontman-chris-martin-plays-the-hygeia/1277501
