you know i'm a little less skeptical about this source since they said it was 'someone's birthday party. didn't mention the band directly either. just chris' friends. so we all know it was someone's birthday yesterday..
  4. guess we can expect another in depth interview on GS soon! link keep an eye on hardknock.tv
  5. so chris is at the apple launch today: Stephen Fry @stephenfry · Celeb horror moment: in running to hug Chris Martin spilled Kanye West’s drink. 7. so chris won't be performing the song: What a privilege to work with HRH Prince Harry and Chris Martin from Coldplay on the song "Invictus" for the forthcoming Invictus games, which I will be performing live on The One Show on Wednesday 10th September. The song will be available for immediate download after the show, with proceeds going to The Invictus Games charity. Please support this fantastic cause. Gary x link
  8. Choir weeps over Coldplay uncoupling Spare a thought for members of the Games Makers Choir, who thought they would be singing alongside Coldplay’s Chris Martin at the Invictus Games opening ceremony next week, the Prince-Harry-backed sporting event for wounded soldiers. “We have some very exciting news!” ran a jubilant email to choristers, dated August 1. “Chris Martin, of Coldplay (yes Coldplay), has created an anthem for the occasion, and we’ve been asked to provide the choir accompaniment for this brand new song.” Head honchos at the choir even started circulating a prospective rehearsal schedule to see if they could round up enough members of the choir — who are made up of London 2012 volunteers from all over the country — to participate in the event being held at the Queen Elizabeth Park. However, just 12 days later, members of the choir were forwarded this email from the Invictus organisers: “Since last we spoke, things have changed regarding the choir,” it read, ominously. “Coldplay have requested that we use a choir they have previously worked with.” Coldplay’s PR office didn’t respond directly to The Londoner asking why the choir thought they had been booked. “Lead vocals will be sung by serving military servicemen,” said a spokesman, adding that one of the established choirs that sang at the opening of the Olympics Games was now being used. Games Makers Choir manager Liz Stainthorpe has brushed it off. “It’s just one of those things,” she said. So is it crossed wires, an almighty cock-up or a verdict on the choir? We contacted Invictus but they never got back. link so coldplay are very hands on. but still not clear whether any would actually show up for the event.
  9. landing at lax more here
  10. uh-oh.. probably just a rumor regarding the tour. but another interview! Weekend Throwdown ‏@WkndThrowdown #ChrisMartin @Coldplay in studio with @jaggeronair this weekend! Talking new single #ASkyFullOfStars plus an upcoming tour?http://instagram.com/p/sP_rT0um63/
  11. i don't think it is in their interests to work with someone whose work resembles theirs, like tim rice oxley's. that's why when there have been collaborations, they have mostly been with very different artists to them. and there is potential to make something fantastic out of such occasions. but i agree, it would be great if they chose someone different to work with other than rihanna...
  12. more here
  13. i think it reflects more on what his current mental state is. and one major factor of that seems to be making music that his kids would love.
  14. this! but i hope it won't last long or else coldplay music lovers would become "strictly for teens, tweens and younger"..
  15. i think there will be newer bands/artists who can do with more exposure and have the financial backing for this. but a seasoned band like coldplay doesn't 'need' it. also, since coldplay haven't toured this album, i don't think they will spend money to play a gig even if they wanted to.
  16. NFL to Coldplay: Pay to Play the Super Bowl NFL Receives Chilly Reception From Artists Under Consideration for 2015 Halftime Show The National Football League doesn't usually pay the act that performs at halftime during the Super Bowl. But in a twist this year, the league has asked artists under consideration for the high-profile gig to pay to play, according people familiar with the matter. The NFL has narrowed down the list of potential performers for the 2015 Super Bowl to three candidates: Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Coldplay, these people said. While notifying the artists' camps of their candidacy, league representatives also asked at least some of the acts if they would be willing to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig. The pay-to-play suggestion got a chilly reception from the candidates' representatives, these people said. NFL spokeswoman Joanna Hunter said the league's contracts with performers were confidential and that its only goal was "to put on the best possible show." As for the lineup, she said, "when we have something to announce, we'll announce it." Super Bowl XLIX is to be played outside Phoenix on Feb. 1. It's unclear how much money the NFL was seeking, and whether it would likely have amounted to more or less than the extra income the chosen performer might stand to generate from the exposure. No decision has been made yet and it is possible another act could be selected. The Super Bowl halftime show, which this year featured the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bruno Mars, drew a record 115.3 million viewers in February, according to the NFL, more than the game itself. The entire event averaged 112.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen. That was more than double the size of the audience for the Academy Awards this year, more than triple the audience for this year's Grammy Awards and more than 11 times the size of MTV's most recent Video Music Awards. The show has always been among the most valuable promotional opportunities for the music industry, and in recent years some performers have put tickets for their tours on sale immediately following their appearance on the field, to capitalize on the exposure. Beyoncé announced her "Mrs. Carter Show" tour immediately following her halftime performance in 2013, for example, and the world tour grossed more than any other that year besides Bon Jovi's, according to trade publication Pollstar. Bruno Mars also put tickets to his "Moonshine Jungle" tour on sale the Monday after the game this year. CD and download sales also typically get a temporary boost during the week following the artist's Super Bowl performance. But it is impossible to know what percentage of an artist's concert ticket and album buyers were inspired by the halftime show. The impact is likely to be more significant for an up-and-coming artist such as Bruno Mars than for established stars such as Rihanna, Katy Perry and Coldplay, promoters say. Ms. Perry, for example, sold 92% of the tickets to the concerts she headlined from May to July, grossing more than $36 million, according to Pollstar. Rihanna grossed $141.9 million on 90 shows around the world in 2013; Coldplay grossed $171.3 million on 67 global dates on their last tour in 2012, according to Pollstar. The NFL typically covers the halftime performers' travel and production expenses, which can run well into the millions. PepsiCo Inc. PEP +0.02% will be the title sponsor of the show for the third consecutive year in 2015, but doesn't "sign or work any deals with the talent selected," said a Pepsi spokeswoman. link wow! a lot of people want to see coldplay play super bowl, but them paying to play a show?! a little too greedy are we NFL?
  17. think it is possibly a warm up gig for the iHeartRadio show.

  19. it's not that either! it's about contributing himself to gossip sites and giving them another chance to rehash stories. i don't think he can't take 5 mins out of his day to make a video and i think the challenger would let him know since they are known to be friends.
  20. regarding pleasing wider audience, you get the feeling that chris is writing for his kids now more than anything. his interviews make it look like validation from his family are a very important aspect to him. there is nothing wrong with that, except that he maybe writing for a teen audience and coldplay audience is not mainly comprised of a younger generation listening to pop music. i feel the band needs to keep the focus on this in order to make mature satisfying music. i was listening to viva and a rush of blood on a long drive this week and was a little depressed thinking of the more recent output from the band.
  21. well it's not about his ability to dump a bucket of ice on himself, but the attention it would bring on himself during this time period i think.
  22. of course, but i think tim mcgraw would let him know about the challenge. anyway, coldplay have been more behind the scenes when it comes to philanthropy lately. that's why i thought he wouldn't necessarily do it, especially with all the gossiping going on these days. who knows though.
