  1. i like that mostly because it is not anyone expects. unpredictability, suits here for me. oh gosh! don't let any media see this lol
  2. chris' obsession with birds :) the thing is both these songs are fantastic. so i'll be ok with another bird based song in the future, as long as it's as good. btw, i found it really strange that birds didn't get a lot of love from the critics.
  3. yeah, it could be the first day momentum though. all the pre-orders get counted i think. if they do hold on for the rest of the week, then there is a chance. but i think a lot of adele's hard copies are being sold. it's so in your face, with huge displays in front. i went to barnes & noble yesterday for ahfod and there was only one copy and i bought that. but adele was front and center with a huge display. smh..
  4. adele sold over 1 mil copies again in the US on her second week. it is going to be tough. don't think there is a chance in the US, but hopefully in the UK?
  5. no! more competition to get tickets..
  6. lol guy looks exactly like how you'd imagine him to be in a picture like this.
  7. supposedly at 6pm UK time. that's in 3 hours.
  8. in a european interview this week. can't remember exactly which one.
  9. i felt that right after the leak. now there is so much happening, i'm sure it'll settle in again sometime next week or so.
  10. ah :) yes, some fans love asfos. and i've gotten to really enjoy it live. gets everyone going. i meant the song title rather than the song itself. titles in "a x full of y" mold. that is derivative to me. specially because both titles are in your face coldplay titles. not smaller songs hidden away in an album only the hardcore fans know of. but i do like that about asfos being a gateway to ahfod. see, i even mix up the 's's and 'd's typing those two :D
  11. yeah, that was a fantastic interview. i wish chris didn't write and release asfos if he had an album planned by the name ahfod. because now ahfod sounds derivative of asfos. i'd rather have adfod the album standing on it's own accord than be a second thought to a song that a lot of people don't even care for.
  12. yeah, that's the coldplay-style connotation as i mentioned before. chris does look genuinely happy and far more comfortable compared to his awkward self. contentment is hard to achieve and if he's got that now, that's a feat in itself. hahaa! i think that somewhat rings true too. but that's just a small aspect of it.
  13. hahaa! re - full-on pop coldplay-style. because it is not full-on pop.
  14. i think ahfod is chris trying to convince himself he is happy and through the tunnel (probably he is), tied with coldplay wanting to do full-on pop coldplay-style.
  15. i don't know if these songs were featured in that, but they have spoken about this. they were going to do an acoustic album and wrote songs for one. but then they got bigger songs, mainly charlie brown and will tried to play it on an accordion :) and according to chris, guy said no way and then the fuller song was made. somehow more bigger songs came together and they thought of 2 albums, acoustic and not. then they put the best of all together with some new ones and made mylo. that's what they said anyway.
  16. it was stuck in my head after listening to it a couple of times played on bbc radio 1. the kind of song that annoyingly sticks with you :)
  17. definitely my favorite too. and the thing is, you really start to enjoy songs like everglow and amazing day when you hear some of the other ones, let alone be thankful for birds! lol
  18. i'm going through the liner notes finally. another interesting thing. they have their lyrics "written down" for the first time! looks like chris is indeed getting over some of his insecurities. this is the first in 7 albums. says a lot about their (chris' in particular) state of mind.
  19. oh good god, yes! i'll take this over that line on everglow too! anyway, i agree that the whole record emulates a sort of child like innocence. in that context, i'll take "i think you're so cool". still for me, the corniness worked in up&up, but with the rest of the strong lyrics in birds, this comes off poor :)
  20. if anyone missed it, chris said in an interview that birds is about two lovers from 2 places like the palestine and israel. in that context, the song is really beautiful and meaningful. but agree on the last line, should have been better for such a strong, beautiful song.
  21. hahaa! i didn't see that. just skimmed through
  22. peeps who are mad at the use of drum machines more lately (including me), blame is with will!
  23. a positive review from huffpo: A Head Full of Dreams begins with the self-titled track that encapsulates the excitement Coldplay experienced putting this album together. An infectious guitar riff is only partially eclipsed by Chris Martin's smooth vocals as the song roars on, high tempo and unrelenting. The title, "A Head Full of Dreams," references the dream-like fantasy Coldplay is attempting to impart upon us throughout their seventh studio album, released on December 4, 2015. Boasting 11 tracks and clocking-in at just over 45 minutes, A Head Full of Dreamspacks a punch. Guitarist Jonny Buckland called A Head Full of Dreams "night to the day" in comparison to 2014's Ghost Stories. Ghost Stories was released on the cusp of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow's "conscious uncoupling," and the themes and sounds explored on the album were definitively the band's deepest and darkest on their discography. But on A Head Full of Dreams, not only are the music and lyrics brighter and more colorful, but the outside talent employed to help paint this picture are natural additions. Beyoncé, Tove Lo, and Barack Obama are just some of the influences brought onto this album. "Hymn for the Weekend" features a nonchalant (and uncredited) Beyoncé backing vocal. The level of depth added to the vocals on this track from Beyoncé is virtually indescribable -- in many ways, the harmonies on this song are reminiscent of the Rihanna feature on "Princess of China" from 2011's Mylo Xyloto, and in others, this song is stylistically more of a Beyoncé song than a Coldplay one. In the last quarter of the song, Chris Martin effectively takes the back seat, all while Beyoncé floats atop the guitar and percussion crescendos and fades out angelically. "Hymn for the Weekend" is a song that shines limelight on the creative strides the band has taken from their earlier albums. The broken-down, sentimental side of the band that was so prominent in Ghost Stories carried over into a couple tracks on A Head Full of Stars. "Everglow," the second single released from the album, highlights the sort of melancholy that we were last left with in 2014. But the track-to-track creative transitioning that Coldplay employed on Mylo Xyloto remains a distinguishing characteristic of A Head Full of Dreams -- after "Everglow," "Adventure of a Lifetime" serves as a stark juxtaposition. The first single from the album, "Adventure of a Lifetime" also functioned as Coldplay's album announcement upon its release in early November. "Adventure of a Lifetime"'s features Coldplay as chimpanzees who learn to play music, a scene as harmlessly nonsensical as the giddiness the high-pitched guitar riff throughout the track makes you feel. "Fun" paints an uplifting, airy scene bolstered by the beautifully-meshed duet with Swedish pop singer Tove Lo. Distant, distorted guitar introduces Chris Martin's vocals, and he makes his crooning seem effortless. Tove Lo's voice weaves seamlessly with Chris Martin's, as they innocently ask one another, "Didn't we have fun?" An equally immersive experience, "Army of One" makes great use of synthesized organs for backing, and at a quick 3:30, it leaves its mark without you even realizing it. A Head Full of Stars is an important album for Coldplay. After the dramatic creative shift on Ghost Stories, this new release proves that the band is back. They've released worldwide tour dates already in support of A Head Full of Stars, and with the announcement that they will be playing the Super Bowl halftime show, this album will be heard by a lot of people that might have not picked up the album on their own. And that's a good thing. A Head Full of Stars is a triumphant reclaiming of a throne Coldplay so fundamentally deserves. Welcome back. x
