  1. ...not really. It's just because Hollywood produces the vast majority of the world's movies. It's not like people in the UK watch more British films than American, or people in France watch more French films. 9/10 movies shown here are American.
  2. Gosford Park. Here's a plot outline: A bunch of rich people turn up at a house with their servants. They sit around talking. Someone gets murdered. They sit around talking. They leave. What an interesting film  Even when they reveal who the murderer is, they're like "Oh, so you're the murderer!? Jolly good! Cup of tea?" It reminds me of an Eddie Izzard routine about British acting...... British acting is very subdued. It's all very 'Room With A View... With A Staircase And A Pond". It's just people walking into rooms, looking confused and going... 'Oh? I.... uh... I just err....' 'What is it, Sebastian? I'm arranging matches.' 'I just.... you... umm.... I think I'd better go.' '...Yes, I think you'd better had.' That's exactly what this film is like. Dull. Nothing happens at all. Even the all star cast (Maggie Smith, Stephen Fry, Ryan Phillipe, Kelly MacDonald, Kristin Scott Thomas, Helen Mirren, Richard E. Grant) can't inject life into it. In fact, the whole plot of Gosford Park can be summed up in three words: Rich people talking.
  3. ^ no, you've ruined it! and I was gonna go and see it as well... ... what?
  4. I have a 4th generation 20GB iPod. It's the bees knees, baby. And it was only £100. God bless eBay. I had filled around 6.5GB, which was about 1300 tracks - I encode all my MP3's at higher quality (192kbps) which means they take up more space. But it fucked up recently so I had to reformat it, and now I've gotta start all over again.
  5. It would simply have to be Radiohead and The Beatles.
  6. I actually heard someone with this ringtone for the first time the other day. I was in hospital waiting for an x-ray and this guy's mobile goes off. I felt like punching him in the face. Apparently, the guy that recorded the original Crazy Frog noise said he thought it was funny the first time he heard it back, then he immediately hated it.
  7. X&Y and The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan I bought them both together, cos Tesco was doing a "get the new Coldplay album for £6.97 when you buy another chart CD".
  8. Here's how I play the whole thing. Intro & CODA: | E - A - | D/A - Am - | Verse: | Bsus4 - B - | Bm - B - | | Bsus4 - B - | Bm - B - | | A5 - A? | A - A? - | Chorus: | E - - - | Emaj7 - - - | | E7 - - - | Emaj7 - - - | E - 022100 A - x02220 D/A - x00232 Bsus4 - x24452 B - x24442 Bm - x24432 A5 - x00250 A? - x0224x A - x02220 Emaj7 - 022140 or 021100 E7 - 022130 or 020100
  9. Yep. The worst song The Beatles ever did in my opinion. Oasis - Lyla Doves - Almost Forgot Myself Radiohead - Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors The Strokes - Automatic Stop Jeff Buckley - Nightmares By The Sea
  10. I always sort of liked them, but since I got The Last Broadcast a few months ago they've become one of my favourite bands.
  11. Changing tuning between songs is a piece of cake. It takes me about 30 seconds to change it. I'm more worried about whether I'm gonna break a string.
  12. seems a bit stupid to me
  13. Fair enough, if you're in Canada or the US I can see that Oasis wouldn't really "define a generation". But have Coldplay? I don't think so. At least in the UK Oasis have defined a generation, whereas I fail to see Coldplay doing that anywhere in the world.
  14. You need an external "Audio Interface" which could communicate with your laptop via USB or Firewire. Audio inputs on laptops are terrible quality for recording, so no matter how good the audio interface, if you plug it in through the audio input it will sound shit. So make sure it's got USB or Firewire, or that it can connect to your PC by any other way than through the audio input. The M-Box really is very good, and it comes with ProTools which is widely considered the best multi-track sequencer in the business (and I'd have to agree). Otherwise, Google for "pro audio stores" or "audio interfaces" or something similar, and eBay is a good place to look as well. Also, exactly what mic are you using, and are you recording acoustic or electic guitar? It might be a decent one, but it might not be right for recording guitar with.
  15. The Stone Roses The Smiths Slade The Small Faces T-Rex Led Zeppelin The Who The Rolling Stones The Kinks The Doors Bob Dylan Neil Young
  16. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Ain't No Easy Way
  17. 'Amsterdam' - just because of the huge climax (*snigger*) at the start of the last verse Althought I do prefer 'Swallowed In The Sea' as a song, I don't think it's end-of-set material. But I agree that 'Fix You' would be even better.
  18. No, don't be silly. I'd say they're the biggest UK band since Oasis, but they're not as big as they were and certainly not bigger. I don't think Coldplay could sell out 250,000 tickets for Knebworth Park in just a few hours. Definitely Maybe is the biggest selling debut album of all time, and Be Here Now is the fastest selling UK album of all time (around 750,000 in its first week, compared to around 400,000 for X&Y). If you're talking worldwide, then Coldplay are probably more successful in the US. But here in the UK, you really had to be here to believe how big Oasis were. They were massive. Larger than life. Absolutely fucking huge.
