Closer
That's almost my No1 Love movie, in the sense that it covered four different types of persons with sharp characteristics in modern life, and reprented the essential factors leading to the failure of Happiness between lovers. And it made you retrosepct who you are, and what you want....and let people understand people, your wife, your husband, your boyfriend, your girlfriend......I was moved from the very beginning, yeah, I love Damien Rice's songs a lot.....and this movie was very well interwaved with this Matching song. It had a very realistic/honest style - no fake romance, no emtional exaggeration. The only *depressing*(sadness is not negative) thing is that the roles in the movie can't solve the problems at the end - facially, departure is so doomed; but once in a while being Closer, the true love can change a person so deeply and tremendously, which is so encouraging and spirit lighting up... Cheers! :) N So it is.....From Damien Rice's website. ++++++++++++++++ 30 November 2004 Steve Hochman's LA Times "Pop Eye" column about Damien's involvement with 'Closer' Damien Rice graduates into film Earlier this year, Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice and some associates were watching the 1967 movie "The Graduate" and loved the way the film wove songs by Simon & Garfunkel into the story. "We spoke of how great it would be to work on a movie like this, where the song and movie are very interlaced," he says. He didn't have to imagine the situation for long. Just a few weeks later Rice got a call from Mike Nichols, the director of "The Graduate," about that very thing. Nichols was working on "Closer," a romance starring Julia Roberts and Jude Law, and wanted to use Rice's music. And there was a parallel to the past movie on his end as well. "It happened exactly the same way as when someone sent me a Simon & Garfunkel album while I was doing 'The Graduate,' " Nichols says. "A friend sent me Damien's CD and I started playing it at home and after the third day I said, 'Listen to this! This is the opening song for my picture.' " In fact, the song "The Blower's Daughter," taken from Rice's 2003 album "O," wound up being not just the opening song (played in its entirety at the movie's start) but also the closing song. And Rice was also asked to record several instrumental cues to be used elsewhere in the film. Nichols notes that it's not exactly equivalent to how he used Simon & Garfunkel songs throughout in "The Graduate" and that "The Blower's Daughter" will not become an "anthem for adultery" as "Mrs. Robinson" was in the earlier movie. But Rice is thoroughly satisfied with the way it turned out. "It's quite different from 'The Graduate,' as the story and song are quite different," he says. "But Mike is Mike, and he's made it feel like this was all meant to be." ++++++++++++++++++

The Jeff Buckley appreciation thread (November 17, 1966 - May 29th , 1997)
I'm lying in my bed, the blanket is warm This body will never be safe from harm Don't wanna weep for you, don't wanna know I'm blind and tortured, the white horses flow The memories fire, the rhythms fall slow Black beauty I love you so There's the moon asking to stay Long enough for the clouds to fly me away Well it's my time coming, i'm not afraid to die This is our last goodbye I hate to feel the love between us die But it's over Just hear this and then i'll go You gave me more to live for More than you'll ever know This is our last embrace Must I dream and always see your face Why can't we overcome this wall Well, maybe it's just because i didn't know you at all Kiss me, please kiss me But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation You know it makes me so angry 'cause i know that in time I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye Did you say 'no, this can't happen to me,' And did you rush to the phone to call Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind Saying maybe you didn't know him at all You didn't know him at all, oh, you didn't know Well, the bells out in the church tower chime Burning clues into this heart of mine Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memories Offer signs that it's over... it's over Love, let me sleep tonight on you couch And remember the smell of the fabric Of your simple city dress Oh... that was so real We walked around til the moon got full like a plate The wind blew an invocation and i fell asleep at the gate And I never stepped on the cracks 'cause i thought i'd hurt my mother And I couldn't awake from the nightmare that sucked me in and pulled me under Pulled me under Oh... that was so real I love you, but i'm afraid to love you I love you, but i'm afraid to love you Looking out the door i see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners Parading in a wake of sad relations as their shoes fill up with water And maybe i'm too young to keep good love from going wrong But tonight you're on my mind so you never know When i'm broken down and hungry for your love with no way to feed it Where are you tonight, child you know how much i need it Too young to hold on and too old to just break free and run Sometimes a man gets carried away, when he feels like he should be having his fun And much too blind to see the damage he's done Sometimes a man must awake to find that really, he has no-one So i'll wait for you... and i'll burn Will I ever see your sweet return About Led Zeppelin --- http://www.jimmypageonline.com/11473.html Jimmy Page: "I tapped into the same energy in the 1950s when I heard people such as Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. And I hear it Now in the White Stripes." He has even revised his initial verdict on Rap "They steal your riffs and they shout at you" since collaborating with Puff Daddy on his Hip-Hop adaption of the Led Zeppelin song Kashmir. +++++ Oh will I ever learn Oh lover, you should've come over 'Cause it's not too late Lonely is the room, the bed is made, the open window lets the rain in Burning in the corner is the only one who dreams he had you with him My body turns and yearns for a sleep that will never come It's never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder It's never over, all my riches for her smiles when i slept so soft against her It's never over, all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter It's never over, she's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever Well maybe i'm just too young To keep good love from going wrong Oh... lover, you should've come over 'Cause it's not too late Well I feel too young to hold on And i'm much too old to break free and run Too deaf, dumb, and blind to see the damage i've done Sweet lover, you should've come over Oh, love well i'm waiting for you Lover, you should've come over 'Cause it's not too late How many times have you heard someone say If I had money, I will do things my way But little they know, that it's so hard to find One rich man in ten with a satisfied mind Money can't buy back all your youth when you're old A friend when you're lonely, oh peace to your soul The wealthiest person is a pauper at times Compared to the man with a satisfied mind My life is over and my time has run out My friends and my loved ones I will leave them no doubt But one things for certain When it comes my time I'll leave this old world, oh yeah oh yeah, with a satisfied mind One things for certain, when it comes my time, oh yeah, I'll leave this old world, oh with a satisfied mind Mind mind mind mind, satisfied mind for an end

Listen to it in Once Upon A Time in America But if Yesterday has not been in Time, in Me, can I create it and believe it furthmore... Yesterday All my troubles seemed so far away Now it looks as though they're here to stay Oh, I believe In yesterday Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be There's a shadow hanging over me Oh, yesterday Came suddenly Why she Had to go I don't know She wouldn't say I said Something wrong now I long For yesterday Yesterday Love was such an easy game to play Now I need a place to hide away Oh, I believe In yesterday Why she Had to go I don't know She wouldn't say I said Something wrong now I long For yesterday Yesterday Love was such an easy game to play Now I need a place to hide away Oh, I believe In yesterday (hum to "I believe in yesterday")

I have seen Dirty Politics's function on Younger Generation!!! That's just terrible and another human tragedy is on the way!!! broke: you are too bias to Communism and tell me what's the definition of communism/socialism...is that your textbook/teacher telling you it is communism who killed many people?! The national killing in russia(prob. in stalin era, not lenin)/some latin american countries/even in china(i admit) might be due to Monarch OR partially War-Peace time transimission failure, but Communism/Socialism does not lead to it at all! You can ask european people, how much social welfare(i.e. Germany) were obtained by working classes' struggle/blood/sacrifice in 18-19th socialism revolutions by communist parties. And, it was once all over the whole world too. So you must say Korea War and Vietnam War (both related to China/US/some western countries) are Right for trying to kill China in the cradle? I can tell you although we need to learn many things for economics development/ democracy politics, but chinese communist party saved 4000 millions of people's lives from the brutal war, from foreigners' invasion/ruins at that time. We do have bunches of problems now, but most of people have had a better life. Most important thing, even one day China becomes a developing country, he will not ruin the other people, the remaining of the world...It is due to his tradition/philosophy baby. I can also tell you Don't be naive about why US helped Japan rebuilding after world war II, did it feel guilty about Atomic Bombing in Japan? Or for Pearl Island's revenge?(obviously not)...mainly because Japan is near to China and could be a Partner of US in Asia. Japan can be a balanced power for a different social typed country, China. That's just for War Strategy - for US's long long run interest. Many people are not aware that politics tries to help its own nation's or classes' interest, and they did dare Cheat on People with wrong historical facts(till today, some Japanese textbook still doesn't admit Japanese army killed 300, 000 people in Nanjing (China) during WWII!)... Frankly and fairly, I can see both sides have biases on each other -- so called socialism/captalism (they have been outdated actually, but the effect is still deep). But it is ok, if young generation can build friendship/trust based on understanding, open minded and most of important, Love The People in the world, not just your nation, your "class", your skin color - Don't get fooled again by Dirty part of the Politics!!!!

good point for purifying faith/religion out of politics - yes, it was ruined by politics from a long time ago, and still being ruined today, which leads me think the origin of religion, it may not have only naive side from the beginning, Objective concern is the fact/evidence for the events in bible; subjective concern is If faith of love can be kept in human heart, and make this world better, it is enough for a religion. Evolution has bunch of evidences from archiology, chemistry, phisics TOO! not just theory at all...and if evolution is just a fact, it doesn't necessarily mean human is just another animal, like Fittest survival..we all know good people are far beyond that (I mention that because i know why some of christian don't like to accept evolution). Yes, open mind, different theories/facts are still some perspectives. One of absolute things is Love, love people in this world.

Thanks! Actually, i am aware that after posting, maybe I need not exlain it. I mean I am not forcing, I am just sharing..and yes Travis also sings Yin and Yong: I’d pray to God if there was heaven But heaven seems so very far from here And it all boils down to the same old thing Just a yin and a yang or a couple of pipe dreams On the other hand, undertanding is trying to avoid misunderstanding or even conflicts..western and eastern...free choice doesn't create any problems :)

I am confused whether there is person in history, like jesus, no offending, people, just...btw, do you know Herman Hesse's novel Siddhartha? I do heart love that book!!! I dunno about Buddha but we have learned that Jesus is a historic person, and ofcourse there are historic evidences from ancient roman hostorians(plinje is one of them if i remember correctly,i dunno how's he called in englsih). Now his teachings and all that is another thing. :) Thanks...my doubt is actually from last part..i mean, all the magic things...Who ever don't want a Super Right Person can give the world an eternal peace...maybe just a human wish..and Evolution is the thing we learn in science.

When you were really young..what was your dream job?
^^^ hmmm, it is soo true, most of the child's dreams are just so shining like stars, but who knows the temperature there, wether you can live there stuff....I mean the real thing you need to know/do for turning it into realities.. but *curiosity* is kind of strong power, this thing is kept along till now for me..originally i like Astronomy a lot..the sky is always a place so attractive to me, mysterious, beautiful.. but later, down to the earth to think about daily life, sooo different...when I grew up, I began to love literature/music/drawing, art a lot and i am happy to self discover that's inborn with me other than science (just based on my strong curiosity i guess) I still kept them as *dreams*, I think JOB should be another thing..like making money. Or if one day, I can find a good point to combine my dreams with job...

WARNING - Chinese Proverbs (Comedy-> Not 2b taken serious
hmm, sorry if someone feels offending, cauze I am chinese and I like philosophy a lot, might be too sensitive/serious in this thread. And, the plain translation is just *funny* to me since it is totally forgetting the context (cultrue, history) stuff, thus making no sense or confused to foreigners and me as well. but for the Happiness, waoooo, i was not aware of. it is not for here, but it might be true sometimes for girls, more irrational/emotional. I admit, boys. But this one "War does not determine who is right, war determine who is left. " Although most of the people don't want to admit/accept it, the crulty of the whole. In western, there also is "Fittest Survival" theory. DJ: "No point looking for a BLACK cat in a darkened room, especially when the cat isn't there" I think the original one has BLACK for emphasis...actually, i think it means we identify things from Relativity(i.e. if all the people are the same, no woman, no man :) or we can't differenciate things if we can only know the same part, or especially it is vain to look for objective Nothing with your subjective Must Something there - this part is for Subjective/Objective relation) In objective world, absoluteness doesn't exsit...

just use some Resize tool, usually, you can input a percentage of an original size, like 70%, or you can adjust width/height separately...Windows has Paint in Program/Accessories, which is the simple one but supporting that..

- sorry. I'm depressed.
no need to be sorry for depression. I don't know if you really love someone, but you have decided not to let her/him know forever, is that too hard or too good for you?! Is that Forgetting only your Thinking?? you will be fine.... :) *comf.*- Going Through My First Time of 20's thinking
good for you and it makes sense...your growing up traces......hmmm... it is really hard to explain, i just know for love/marriage, it is like Right Time, Right Place, and Right Person...I am not dorky...you learn it from your failure..this time, it is not the right time; next place, it is not a proper place... All the other things, like you need to know yourself better, know how to control yourself, how to realize a dream in real life, how to build relationship with this world, people, job, money, music..you know something is easy for you, something is just hard...Naiveness -- sorry, it is really only an excuse for Escaping...you need to face it, if you don't know you, learn, if you are lack of courage, do... If you don't want to be hurt, you never grow up. You need to be shallow for a while, need to be confused for a while, need to be twisted for a while, need to be unstable for a while, then you are becoming a MAN, i mean for all the young people... and one day, when you look back, you gonna cry quietly, but smile as well and Appreciate this bloody exciting life, and all the people who walk along with you! Some may leave you ever around you, no where they have gone but stay in your heart more closely, eternaly! I am just Soo emotional..Thanks for the thread and cheers for our Time!!! - sorry. I'm depressed.
