  1. Here in the US, The Goldrush is on Spotify. I was pleasantly surprised when I first found it on there. Same with A Spell A Rebel Yell and Coldplay's Live 8 set from 2005 (with Richard Ashcroft joining for the cover of Bittersweet Symphony).
  2. I suppose the only reason I those older songs are listed is because very old unreleased songs have seen the light of day. Go to around the 43 minute and 40 second mark this video from the MX sessions in 2009 and tell me that's not A L I E N S.? Us Against The World is a possibility because Chris talked about a "finished" version of it in the same Instagram live stream where he mentioned UFO #2. I do agree that the oldest songs on this list are very unlikely to show up on MOTS, though.
  3. How strange. Here in the US, it's nowhere to be found. There's a live version of How You See The World that was a B-side for The Hardest Part. It's on Spotify. But I can't find either of the studio versions. The first version is rare to begin with because it was only found on early Japanese pressings of X&Y, and the "No. 2" version is on a charity album that I can't find.
  4. Every Coldplay album has had a title track (including Viva, which had two of them, and Ghost Stories, though that one was a bonus track), so I don't think it's far-fetched to expect that there's gonna be a song called Music of the Spheres.
  5. Proof isn't on Spotify.
  6. I've always liked that little outro. It reminds me of Poppyfields. UFO 2 and the reworked Us Against The World make me think that MOTS is going to be a sort of sequel to Mylo Xyloto. Kind of like how Everyday Life feels like a sequel to Viva with all the strings and the experimentation.
  7. Charlie Brown (Live in Buenos Aires) vs Yellow (Live in Buenos Aires)
  8. I'm hoping we can finally hear Tomorrow, which was left off of MX and Ghost Stories. Who knows, this is a long shot, but maybe we'll get Until The Water Flows Over. It's referenced in the AHFOD documentary so maybe the band was inspired to revisit it. Arabesque and ALIENS were both worked on in the sessions for MX... but the band still finished and released them years later, so I suppose any of the old unreleased songs could be fair game. I think Lethal Drug may be the same as a song called Love In A Lethal Dose that was left off of MX. So maybe Coldplay could revisit it and then release the leaked version of Lethal Drug as an "Avicii mix" bonus track or something. Or they might want to leave Lethal Drug alone out of respect for Avicii.
  9. It has been a while since I've poked my head inside of this thread ? Did anybody else watch Down By The River Thames? I never thought he'd bring back songs like Hello and Headshrinker. That was such a cool set. Anyways, for any big fans of Liam that may be lurking around, I was aimlessly browsing through YouTube when I stumbled across this sweet little cover of Songbird. Still the best song Liam ever wrote for Oasis. Chris does a nice job, his voice suits it.
  10. Earlier I was listening to Natalie Imbruglia's Come To Life album, the one with two songs--Lukas and Fun--that were given to her by Coldplay. I'm starting to wonder if this Fun eventually did get revisited by Coldplay and evolve into the song on A Head Full Of Dreams. The "didn't we have fun?" lyric appears in both songs and the lyrical themes are pretty similar. Either way, I think it's safe to say that the Fun from 2015 is a sort of spiritual successor or "part 2" to the Fun from 2009, even if it wasn't intended as such.
  11. Talk vs Charlie Brown
  12. I've been listening to A Rush Of Blood To The Head and its B-sides quite a lot lately. I'm really hoping we get a cool 20th anniversary deluxe re-release in 2022. They might not do this if they end up promoting a new album around the same time, but hey, we might get lucky. If I could put together a special anniversary deluxe edition, this is what I would include: The original album, remastered All the B-sides, remastered Previously unreleased songs like Idiot and A Ghost. Maybe even A View From The Top, or whatever that song is actually called (because this is an unofficial title) Demos and/or early live versions of songs from the 2001 tour The full audio for Live 2003, because the original live album only includes part of the concert Live 2003 on Blu-ray, including all the bonus features and music videos
  13. Difficult... Talk vs God Put A Smile Upon Your Face (Live in Buenos Aires)
  14. A Message vs Moses
  15. Both of these posts have got me thinking. Perhaps the pandemic has put the band in a different state of mind compared to what they were working on before, so not only did they cancel the Global Citizen performance, but they also decided to revisit LP9 in light of the events of 2020. It reminds me of what U2 did with the Songs Of Experience album. It was due to be released in late 2016, but then the US election happened and Bono had a mysterious near-death experience. This caused the band to go back and rework the material. The album ended up being delayed until late 2017.
  16. Ghost Story vs Cemeteries of London
  17. Twisted Logic vs One I Love
  18. Only reason I mentioned the iHeartRadio gig is because they've done it in consecutive years before. They played it in 2014 for Ghost Stories and they did it again in 2015 before AHFOD came out in order to debut their new colorful look. I do wonder how far ahead the 2020 set was planned, though. Was it indeed supposed to kick off the MOTS era or was it just Coldplay wanting to tie the fans over while they finish the album? Either theory seems plausible.
  19. I get the feeling the album release and promotion will be similar to that of AHFOD. Start teasing in September/October, do the usual iHeartRadio Festival set, drop a single, play an in-studio set for Radio 1 or Radio 2, release the album in early December, and start the world tour around April or May of 2022. Hopefully the pandemic situation will have improved to the point where Coldplay can safely perform in front of tens of thousands of people again.
  20. It has been a little while since I last peaked my head inside this little corner of the internet. I can't believe it has been 6 years since I first created this account and became the infamous double poster because the old forum software didn't like me and would regularly duplicate my posts. ? Wow... it has been over a year since Everyday Life came out. What a beautiful album. I think it was released at the best possible time--right before the world kind of fell into a state of disorder and turned "everyday life" upside down, with every aspect of life being affected... not to mention, a lot of injustice coming to light... indeed, you could say "the world turned upside down" this year. Everyday Life has helped me cope with it all, as have some older albums from various artists (for example, Radiohead's Hail To The Thief became a lot more meaningful to me). Indeed, music is always there for me when times get tough, whether on a national/global level or even just for me personally. Thank you to Coldplay for making this year a bit more bearable.
  21. Tender by Blur. I was going through some heartbreak when I listened to the 13 album for the first time and Tender was cathartic, to say the least. This song is near and dear to me.
  22. I now think it's quite ironic that they chose not to embark on the typical world tour for this era... it's likely that a lot of shows would have been canceled by now. So they may have dodged a bullet
  23. Over 2 months since I first listened to the album, and almost 3 months after Orphans + Arabesque dropped, here are my thoughts... Everyday Life is legendary by Coldplay standards. I don't think we'll ever get anything quite like it again, just like AROBTTH and X&Y, but I think it's very much on par with those albums. I'm shocked by how much I've enjoyed it, I really am... Can't name a favorite song on the main album anymore, originally Arabesque and Trouble In Town were my favorites but there are just so many strong tracks... WOTW/POTP is the weakest of the bunch, but even then I love the rawness of it. Cry Cry Cry and BrokEN have grown on me a lot, When I Need A Friend is so ethereal and magical, Orphans is the best "catchy pop Coldplay" song since Viva la Vida, Eko and Old Friends rival Strawberry Swing when it comes to just how soothing they are, Daddy strikes an emotional chord every time... I just can't name a bad track or one that I find myself skipping often. The only track that hasn't stayed great in my opinion or grown on me is Flags. I really enjoyed it when it leaked from the Japanese version of the album, but honestly it has just started to seem bland... the message behind the song is great, the lyrics are great, but the melody just doesn't seem so strong. Oh well.
  24. This is so difficult... I'm gonna pick Glass of Water. It's an amazing song but Prospekt's March has a bit toward the end that's one of my favorite moments in any Coldplay song across the band's entire catalogue and that's what gives it the edge IMO: Now here I lie on my own in a separate sky Here I lie on my own in a separate sky I don't wanna die on my own here tonight But here I lie on my own in a separate sky
