🪐 Coldplay: Music of the Spheres 🪐 | Out Now! | Discussion
I can confirm this after finding some lyrics that read pretty similarly to what you heard. https://www.lyrics.com/sublyric/79761/Coldplay/The+Race In and out of time In and out of space Only you make my heart race Only your eyes Only a taste (Oh) I’ve been running out of time In another space Such a beautiful face And I’m seeing lights And I’m seeing shapes All over the place I really hope this song isn't dead. And I'm getting major "music of the spheres" vibes from the full lyrics after having read up on what classical philosophy, astronomy, and spirituality had to say about the concept.

I found my old thread from 2014 where I mentioned the mystery lyrics. Turns out, some of them are mirrored and the wonderful @Batman edited the image to reveal what they say. I would have done it, but I didn't know how at the time. ? "In all of time... in all space... another time... in another place" I think that's a beautiful lyric. Maybe it's from The Race.

I just noticed something after searching for "music of the spheres" on Google. And look what's on the Ghost Stories cover art... Just a cool observation. ?

Random Coldplay thoughts...
Do you ever hear Coldplay in the most random of places? I was walking back to my car at Walmart the other night and somebody had Birds cranked up on their car stereo. I also tend to hear Coldplay whenever I see my dentist for a routine check-up and cleaning. It seems like every time I go there, either We Never Change or Viva la Vida is playing in the office. ?

They played a bunch of festivals from June to October of 2011 and Rock In Rio was the last one. It's safe to say that they won't be doing another big festival tour this year. Maybe something toward the end of the year (like Rock In Rio Brazil, which runs from late September to early October)? I for one am not confident that the state of the world will allow such crowds until the end of the year. 2022 will probably be a better year for touring. I wonder if Coldplay are in a similar situation to what the Foo Fighters dealt with as they were recording their new album Medicine At Midnight. That album was recorded and finished before the pandemic even began but they delayed it for a year, probably because their tour got canceled and they're one of those bands like Coldplay whose tours are always huge and lucrative. Maybe, just maybe, Music of the Spheres is already finished and the band is just waiting for the right time to release it.

Music Of The Spheres Track List
Well... neither does Mylo Xyloto but that did become a short instrumental. They could defy tradition and not have a song called Music of the Spheres, but it's quite unlikely. It's a new song. Starting at 2:45, Chris talks about it as if it's a separate song. Maybe, if they end up releasing this other UFO, this will be another case like Miracles and Miracles (Someone Special) where they slightly alter the title just so people don't get confused.

Music Of The Spheres Track List
I came across this old video and it's the only place outside of Chris's notes in the MX pop-up book and one of Chris's guitars from 2020 where Rescue St. is mentioned. Unless the band has had a change of heart, I think it's safe to say that the a cappella bit in Rescue St. is gone. ? I'm very intrigued about what it sounds like. They start talking about a cappella music at 1:43 and Chris mentions Rescue St. And now I see where people are getting the idea that Rescue St. could actually show up on MOTS. Why would one of Chris's guitars have been labeled "Rescue St." if he wasn't working on it?

And when Chris played UATW during his first Instagram Live stream last year... after mentioning that the song had been "finished"... he played a beautiful piano version much like the one above. Oddly enough, it didn't include the "silver bird" verse. A "silver bird" might refer to an airplane? Or even something like a UFO? A rocket ship? Definitely something silver and metallic that flies. Ahhh, you're thinking of this: http://www.coldplayzone.it/create-article/mylo-xyloto Anyways, I've just finished reading all the Mylo Xyloto comics and it's safe to say that there's enough stuff about outer space in there for Music of the Spheres to connect with it somehow. Now, get this. There's a moment where Mylo--an orphan--discovers a toy rocket ship from his parents that basically changes his life and helps him unlock his "sparker" powers that the Irdok overlords like Major Minus absolutely hate. That little toy rocket reminds me quite a bit of the one that Chris plays around with in the Champion of the World video. Just a cool little observation. Probably means nothing but I've been wary about easter eggs in Coldplay music videos ever since the True Love video supposedly hinted at the bright colorful imagery and optimism of A Head Full of Dreams with that "anything is possible" text at the end. I remember quite a bit of speculation about it.

And maybe this is where the song Rescue St ties into everything else... it existed in 2010 or so and somebody caught a glimpse of the title last year, I think in that stripped-down Every Vote Counts live stream they did? Ahh, yes, I almost forgot about something. The Man Who Swears became Major Minus and apparently one of its working titles was Silencia. I can't find a good source for this so who knows if this is accurate, but Wikipedia does say that Silencia was recorded as early as 2008. So that would have been a very early post-Viva recording, and one that was originally conceived while Viva was still a work-in-progress. It's probably one of the songs they worked on in December of 2008 when the band was featured on 60 Minutes, along with Wedding Bells and Christmas Lights. So, some of these early songs would ultimately evolve into MX, some would be scrapped, some would find their way onto Everyday Life (such as Arabesque), and maybe... just maybe... some would one day be recorded for Music of the Spheres. Maybe they had this basic idea of refugees and war-torn families and part of it turned into the MX mythos about rebels in a dystopian police state, while part of it turned into the themes that are explored in Moving to Mars and A L I E N S (and presumably Music of the Spheres, if our theories are correct). But who knows... maybe we're wrong. Either way, it's fun to theorize.

There was a song called Space Symphony that existed around 2009 or so. If you know the lyrics to Moving to Mars, you'll know that the phrase "space symphony" appears in the lyrics, so I think it's safe to say that this is an early title of Moving to Mars. Another thing I'd like to add is that A L I E N S is a song about refugees... now, where did Coldplay get the name for Moving to Mars? And some of the lyrics if you're willing to think about their deeper meaning? A Mat Whitecross film about refugees. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moving_to_Mars_(film) My theory is that these two songs are companions. They complement one another. Chris had the same sort of ideas in his head when he wrote the lyrics. Now, it's funny, because as you said, Orphans was meant to be left off Everyday Life but they ended up using it on Everyday Life anyways. Orphans is a song about kids living in war-torn Syria and could be applied to kids in war zones and persecuted populations all over the world. The Syrian refugee crisis made headlines in the mid-2010s. All of this makes me wonder if MOTS is quite a bit political, just like Everyday Life (Trouble In Town, Arabesque, Guns). Maybe we're going to see more of this kind of commentary in the lyrics and overall themes of the album. But, it all hinges on these theories of the album connecting to A L I E N S and Moving to Mars being the truth. So, we'll see if any of this ends up being true. ? This trademark is ancient... registered in 1994. Are you sure this is related to Coldplay? Because as far as I know, they aren't the "Saint Germain Foundation" in Illinois.

Ooooh! Nice find! If they are working with Jacob Collier again, I could definitely see them doing something as nerdy as this ? If this is true, then I would think they'd be teasing something on social media by now, but... they're supposed to be "full of surprises" now according to Chris at the end of the Buenos Aires live album, so who knows?

Brian Eno worked on MX and A L I E N S is known to have originated from the same session in 2009... he's even credited as a producer, co-writer, backing vocalist, and guitarist in A L I E N S. Obviously, A L I E N S has some space-related imagery. So, I think you may be onto something. ?

Rank the Ghost Stories songs!
1. Oceans 2. Midnight 3. Fly On 4. Another's Arms 5. Always In My Head 6. Ink 7. True Love 8. Magic 9. A Sky Full Of Stars Another's Arms has really grown on me. There was a time when I really didn't like it because I thought it was overproduced, but something about Johnny's guitar playing in the latter half of the song is so beautiful. And something about those synths and the sampled female voice just give the song a sort of ghostly vibe that fits so well in the context of the album.

What's your favorite song on Mylo Xyloto?
Us Against The World. It's so raw and heartfelt. The lyrics are amazing... I think they do the best job of conveying what Mylo Xyloto is all about: a love story in the midst of a revolution against an oppressive status quo. And the "silver bird" verse that Chris started singing toward the end of the song in 2015 just makes it even more beautiful.

You can find that specific image here. Somebody from the Italian Coldplayzone fan site uploaded pictures from the pop-up edition of Mylo Xyloto in an article about how the album came together: http://www.coldplayzone.it/create-article/mylo-xyloto

If the "finished" UATW ends up being released, then I really hope they incorporate the "silver bird" verse that Chris started singing during the AHFOD era. It was already my favorite song off of MX, but that verse just went made it even more beautiful.

Music Of The Spheres Track List
You may be onto something... I had no idea about Rescue St. before I saw this article. And there are a ton of songs toward the very beginning of the article... I think Great Expectations can be disregarded because the article says it turned into UFO. But the others, especially Car Kids and Up On A Wire, might still be around. MC Squared is interesting because you can see it all throughout Chris's notes. Hypnofeed is interesting because back in the day, it was the name of a part of Coldplay.com. You could submit random video clips (within reason, so nothing offensive) and if you were lucky, the website would feature it for a little while. https://web.archive.org/web/20121014083512/http://coldplay.com/hypnofeedupload.php I'd love to hear Coldplay tackle synthwave, similar to what Muse did with their Simulation Theory album. Imagine a song with synthesizers that sound like something out of a Depeche Mode song. Or an A-ha song, since the members of Coldplay are huge A-ha fans.

Music Of The Spheres Track List
I was about to mention this because it proves that Car Kids and Charlie Brown are not the same song. There's some neat stuff in that pop-up book from what appears to be Chris's notebook. http://www.coldplayzone.it/create-article/mylo-xyloto Since there has been speculation about Music of the Spheres being related to Mylo Xyloto, I suppose any of the unreleased songs from the article might be candidates for LP9. Don Quixote is mentioned once, but I suspect it may have evolved into a different song. Maybe it eventually turned into Life Is Beautiful? The similarities are uncanny.

I... never thought that Matthew Miller might have anything to do with Music of the Spheres. And I read all his old posts on the Coldplay Timeline just a few weeks ago but I didn't catch this. Well, as I've said time and time again, it's not like this band hasn't planned things out years in advance. It's not like they haven't revisited songs that they shelved years ago. Maybe this had something to do with Music of the Spheres. Or maybe not. And this pretty much confirms that the band came up with the name Music of the Spheres no later than 2018. But anyways, as for the Mylo trademark... it makes me think that there's something related to Mylo Xyloto on LP9 and it's significant enough to be put on merchandise. Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that Mylo Xyloto will turn 10 years old in October. Or both.

===The ultimate Oldplaying Thread===S, BS, TBR, P, AROBTTH, X&Y, VLV, PM===
Every now and then I come across an old, obscure live performance that I've never heard before and I think it's absolutely gorgeous. That's how I feel about this acoustic version of Politik. I believe it's from... 2002? Someone in the comments says it's from 2002. Chris's voice has changed over the years and this definitely sounds like his Rush Of Blood To The Head era voice.

I just want a Brandon Flowers collaboration already. I remember rumors about Coldplay working with The Killers a few years ago but it looks like that never happened (or maybe it did, but it got scrapped). I've wanted to hear Liam Gallagher sing on a Coldplay album ever since One Love Manchester happened in 2017. Now both of the Gallaghers have performed with Coldplay. And Noel played on Up&Up, so now it's Liam's turn. Hmmm, who else... how about Lauren Mayberry from the band Chvrches? She has an amazing voice. I've been wondering about inspiration from David Bowie. During Chris's first Instagram Live stream last year, he had a bit of a fan boy moment talking about Life On Mars and playing a bit of it on piano. Hmmm... maybe they could do a song like Valkyrie Missile by Angels & Airwaves. It starts with the band talking as if they are astronauts on the radio and turns into a big anthem with spacey synths. It's such a great album opener. Now that's a very old song. It's possible that the band has forgotten about it. But it shouldn't be dismissed entirely. And honestly, Mining On The Moon is such a cool song title.

And Arabesque originated around that time. And supposedly Everyday Life originated as a "wedding album" from years ago... it makes me think of the song Wedding Bells. Perhaps this "wedding album" was the acoustic and stripped down project that gave us UFO, Us Against The World, and Charlie Brown before those songs became part of Mylo Xyloto. Now, Coldplay doesn't finish and release old demos as often as bands like Radiohead do. But they have done it. So never count out old demos.

What is your favorite Coldplay concert?
Glastonbury 2016, because that's the one I got to attend. It was a dream come true. There's nothing quite like slipping and sliding in a muddy sea of Xylobands during Charlie Brown. There's nothing quite like getting to see Barry Gibb make a surprise appearance during a Coldplay concert and sing Bee Gees songs alongside Chris Martin. There's nothing quite like getting to see Chris's kids join their dad onstage and sing Up&Up with him. Even the technical mishap during Everglow ended up being cool, especially because that stripped-down piano performance ended up being the basis for the single version of the song. But if I'm talking about concerts I've only ever watched on YouTube or a DVD, I'm going to have to say the Toronto 2006 show. It was the first Coldplay concert I ever watched when I was first getting into the band as a 14 year old. Everything about it is immaculate. Apart from Yellow, Clocks, The Scientist, and the songs from X&Y, this was the first time I listened to a bunch of those songs. So I was awestruck by Politik, GPASUYF, How You See The World, Don't Panic, the stripped down version of Trouble, and In My Place. There were so many unforgettable moments in that concert.

War of the Coldplay Songs
Spies (Live at Glastonbury 2002) vs Oceans (Ghost Stories Live 2014) EDIT: I suppose I should clarify, because there are 3 different versions of Oceans from GS Live 2014: the video with Chris playing the song on the pier, the bonus live version on the DVD, and the version on the live album. I'm referring to the version on the live album. ?

Ehh. It's fun to theorize. And before the AHFOD track listing was announced, I remember jokingly predicting that there would be a song called Birds (because of Chris's obsession with writing lyrics about birds and flying). ? I kind of do hope they drop a single or an entire album out of the blue. That'd be a nice change of pace. But I still doubt they will.
