  4. I think I'm one of only very few Americans in my age group who knows Damon Albarn as anybody besides the mind behind the music of Gorillaz and the voice of 2D. And that's all I knew him as until I discovered Blur a few years ago. The man is so underrated. There was a time when Damon's brand of Britpop was exploding (even here in the US) but he just doesn't get too much recognition anymore. I wish he would put out another solo album if Blur never end up reuniting again... I already know it wouldn't be as big as either his own work through Gorillaz or, say, Liam Gallagher's solo efforts, but it'd be nice. But maybe he just really likes the degree of anonymity that Gorillaz offers. At least tour here in North America or something, I think that'd be a treat.

  6. I think February 4th of 2020 is a little too soon. I guess it's possible, but it's on a Tuesday (most major album releases are on Fridays) and I seriously wonder if they'd have the time to finish a brand new album so soon after focusing on 17 songs (Everyday Life + Flags) for the past year unless they pulled a Kid A+Amnesiac and worked on two albums simultaneously. Even April 2nd seems unlikely because it's just so soon. I would think they'd like to spend a good portion of the year finishing the new record. And 2024 is just so far off... that is NOT "coming soon" :joy: If FFTF stands for "Fight For the Future," I think it's worth noting that there is an internet copyright, privacy, censorship, and net neutrality advocacy group by that name: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fight_for_the_Future I'm not sure what that means in terms of this supposed space theme, though. Maybe "Fit For the Future" is more likely to be the album title.

  13. The billboard really looks like Pilar Zeta's artwork. And honestly, the whole thing kinda reminds me of the AHFOD era imagery, especially what was on the band's website, except it's in black and white. The DNA reminds me of X&Y. DNA is the genetic code... which makes me think of "deciphering the codes in you" and the Baudot code. And of course, the image is in "black and white" with "no color or light," which sounds like some lyrics off the 9th song on X&Y. I love theorizing, okay
  14. Someone in a Facebook group I'm in said something about seeing the band in Paris on Monday but didn't clarify anything when I asked when it was announced
  15. Spies vs Everyday Life
  16. I had been reading through the lyrics to Flags people had been posting on the internet (because the band won't post the official lyrics online...). They kept saying "telephone in through a region" and I was like "no, it sounds like Chris is saying 'ouija,' am I the only one who hears this?" It looks like someone finally corrected that line on genius.com, which is the only lyric site I really trust to be accurate anymore :joy: "You may telephone in through a ouija Is there any advice that you could give?" Makes me think that Flags could at least partially be about the speaker talking to the ghosts of people from the past who wanted to "be whatever they wanted to be" but lived under oppression and injustice. The speaker is asking for advice from these brave people, looking for courage in a world that is still dark and unjust.
  17. This is why I'm holding off in case they announce a separate show. If it's a very short set... meh. I'm a college student who doesn't have a whole lot of money at the moment. I'd be able to afford the trip, but I'm not so sure it'd be worth it... I'm really happy for those of you here who are getting to go, though. :) I feel the same about Blink-182's set... they're the other band performing at ALTer Ego that I really like but I just saw them in September and though the show was awesome (they played a classic album in full), I'm not really hungry for more if it's just gonna be a few songs. I'd love to see the rumored setlist, @Pguild142 . You can put it in a spoiler if you like.
  18. I think it's fascinating and it's a decent song but I also think there's a lot of room for improvement. As much as I respect the work Avicii did, I think the song would be better in a fully acoustic arrangement.
  19. BrokEn Indeed, it looks like we've been the only ones keeping it alive... well, barely alive :joy:
  20. I knew a few songs like VLV, Paradise, and the hits from AROBTTH when I was a kid but didn't pay too much attention. Fast forward to around 2011/2012 when I was about 14 and heard Speed of Sound on the radio for the first time. I ended up feeling a pretty special connection to that song and ended up buying X&Y at a Denver record store about a week later. It was one of the first albums I ever bought with my own money.
  21. That's the show I'll try for. This is nice, the other artists are alright, but I'm looking at sets from last year's edition of the festival and most only played around 7 or 8 songs. And I want to see Coldplay at something other than a festival now, haha.
  22. Not if the supposed LA shows happen. Plus, they're performing on the Graham Norton Show on December 13th. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000c6n0 And it looks like another music video will be shot in Ukraine, presumably for Trouble In Town: So we're not quite done yet. Not that this isn't still shaping up to be quite a short era!
