I love how they're always pretty smart about their choice of cover song when they do decide to whip one out. I wouldn't at all be surprised if there was a lot of thought put into the choice to play Gypsy Woman, given the kind of themes that song explores. Fits this era perfectly.

Eko has that "such a beautiful bride" line at the very end too... yeah, it has to come from that era, if they do another Q&A thing in this era like they did before Jordan, then I'm straight up asking about it to see if they'd confirm it. :joy: As for that interview... it's included at the end of @jc90 's amazing recording of the iHeartRadio broadcast. Chris starts talking about the Wedding Album around the 47:10 mark: https://coldplaying.com/forum/index.php?threads/coldplay-live-in-amman-november-23-2019-iheartradio-album-release-party.126162/#post-5957603

They did Lovers In Japan again?! YESSSSSS! We're getting a proper live recording of the new acoustic version. It has been saying "Femi Jam" after Arabesque on the official setlists for the last couple of shows so I wonder if that's what was recorded

I think I'd do part of Sunrise. Or perhaps that solo from Arabesque that might turn more than a few heads in public. Perhaps the intro to Eko or the chorus of Orphans? I had never seen this video until now, and I do not regret watching it. Not one bit. :joy:

Guns is really folksy, and I wouldn't mind more of that in the future. Perhaps Goldrush Part 2 and Death Will Never Conquer Part 2 as well... This version of Fix You is growing on me after a couple more listens. But I prefer Chris on the piano if we aren't gonna get the organ, kind of like this Viva-era gem: Or that Midnight version which I love but I'm also biased towards because that's the only version I've seen live in person :D

I wondered if this might be the case. Especially because of this Bani Adam snippet from way back in 2010... Which reminds me... @cp3176, I'm seriously thinking our little theory about Eko/Aiko might just be correct. This "Wedding Album" partially evolved into MX and partially evolved into Everyday Life, which retains more of that rawness. I think that is the case, because there's some evidence that both Wedding Bells and Christmas Lights existed as separate songs at the same time. Maybe they were supposed to compliment one another?

I think this response does suggest that the band itself didn't really have any control over what happened. Yes, on a broader scale perhaps they could've prevented it, but ultimately, from what I understand, it was the organizers and security who really turned it into a mess. Whereas for the Saturday show in Amman, judging by the YouTube videos and the iHeartRadio broadcast, people wanted to be there and knew Sparks well enough to be audibly singing along. It sounded to me like, while there were some people who just wouldn't shut up, the vast majority were into it, and that was true for much of the set.

It's possible they're playing a longer set for folks at the studio but only a small portion is going to appear in the broadcast.

That's sad to hear about... shame on you, security staff and event organizers who reserved so many seats for folks who probably aren't even fans. Every streamed track I could find sounded amazing, any folks from here who did manage to safely get in got to see a great show. Lovers In Japan and Sparks in the same gig again? I've spent a lot of time digging through Coldplay setlists and these last two shows have been especially unique. It's okay. It's certainly different... I think they've been trying to keep it fresh by changing it up again after the version on the last tour that sampled Midnight. I think the acoustic guitar is a little too uptempo and needs to be more like what you hear in the 2nd verse of the studio version. Basically what @SkyFullOfTrouble said:

Oh... I expected it to only be a short 30 minute show based on what the screenshot in the first post says. But 90 minutes is typical for Coldplay so YESSSSSS they may be playing a full set :D

I'm guessing an autumn 2020 release at the earliest, maybe October... supposedly they had festival appearances lined up but everything was canceled apart from Global Citizen in September. I think that'd give them a little more time to finish the album.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
I think the album's chart struggles just have to do with the low-key promotion and general lack of pre-release appearances to build anticipation as opposed to what they did for past albums. Even Ghost Stories was promoted before its release more than this record ever was.

That's what I think. Remember how Will got a bit choked up during the livestream when they played Daddy?

Church is weird IMO, sounds like Ghost Stories if you ask me and that's probably because of Stargate. It wasn't one of my favorite tracks on the album at first but it has grown on me. Didn't think I'd like a Stargate-produced song on this record after they absolutely murdered 99% of AHFOD but it's actually really relaxing and catchy without being a cheesy mess that sounds like something off a Maroon 5 or Justin Bieber album.

Maybe WOTW/POTP will make some random appearances in the future like Parachutes has over the years. The two songs are remarkably similar. https://www.setlist.fm/stats/songs/coldplay-3d6bde3.html?song=Parachutes

Viva La Vida vs. Everyday Life
Life In Technicolor vs. Sunrise Cemeteries Of London vs. Church Lost! vs. BrokEn 42 vs. Trouble In Town Lovers In Japan vs. Daddy Reign Of Love vs. WOTW/POTP Yes vs. Arabesque Chinese Sleep Chant vs. When I Need A Friend Viva La Vida vs. Orphans Violet Hill vs. Guns Strawberry Swing vs. Èkó/Cry Cry Cry/Old Friends Death And All His Friends vs. Champion Of The World The Escapist vs. Everyday Life Viva: 9 Everyday Life: 4 Yeah, I definitely prefer Viva. But, in Everyday Life's defense, several of the matchups in which I chose a Viva song were pretty tough decisions to make. There are a lot of really strong tracks on both albums.

Coldplay Charts (Everyday life)
The album wasn't really promoted as much as its predecessors so I'm not surprised it's failing to chart well. This was a quieter release even with the SNL appearance and the Jordan livestream.

I want them to play BrokEn acoustic with just Will on piano and him singing back and forth with Chris... but I somewhat doubt they'd try that

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
Okay, since it's clear at this point that Coldplay will barely be doing any more shows for this era, it makes me wonder... When they eventually do decide to tour again, whether that's in 2021 or later, what songs from Everyday Life will they use in the setlist? I think Orphans is a no-brainer because of that chorus and that AHFOD-like stadium-filling sound. Perhaps they'd play Champion of the World because honestly it sounds like MX to me. Guns, Eko, and Old Friends would be great on the C-stage and Everyday Life could fit nicely if they want a sweet piano ballad like Everglow. But honestly I can't see the other 10 songs making an appearance on a stadium tour, especially if the tour has a bright and colorful aesthetic like MX and AHFOD did. The songs are so dark and sad. Not that tried and tested songs like Fix You aren't also emotional, but that song becomes a true anthem after the second chorus. I think these are great songs in their own right, but they just aren't fit for a stadium. What do you all think? Maybe the last full length gig, assuming they only play a few songs at the Maida Vale Studios appearance on Wednesday... https://coldplaying.com/forum/index.php?threads/27-11-2019-coldplay-at-maida-vale-studios.126060/ It's sad though... it seems they'll be gone as quickly as they came out of their "hibernation." "One minute they arrive, next you know they're gone..." Those added lyrics are great! And yeah, I guess it's also possible that the 3/4 is an intentional typo because there are plenty of others throughout the booklet :joy:

I thought it was a bit of a weird song lyrically at first but it has grown on me a lot and since that performance in Jordan it has become one of the best songs on the album for me... even though it's obvious that Chris was lip-syncing that morning, haha. Sunrise + Church make for a spectacular opening that's better than Don't Panic, better than MX/Hurts Like Heaven, better than Always In My Head, even better than AHFOD (the song). The y just set the mood so well. Pleeeeeeease!
