===The ultimate Oldplaying Thread===S, BS, TBR, P, AROBTTH, X&Y, VLV, PM===
Yeah... I posted about this in one of the EL threads and it's disappointing to think about. I really do think Ghost Stories was somewhat of a step in the right direction with songs like Midnight, Oceans, and Ghost Story. But I recall them saying similar things about having to get that album "out of their system" and look how AHFOD turned out... Is this how things are going to be now? MX was a step back from Viva, GS was a step forward, AHFOD was a big step back, EL is a leap forward if you ask me... god forbid they take a leap back for LP9. : unamused:

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
Exactly my thoughts! It's possible that Eko is not derived from Aiko, but it would have fit that acoustic album so well with tracks like UFO, UATW, and Wedding Bells (I believe Charlie Brown and Major Minus were originally supposed to be this way too?). I'm still hoping for a future album that's really stripped down, but this beautiful song and Old Friends will do for now. :)

"for brian eno with love and thanks" It's cool that they still look up to him. :D EDIT: I get it now! :D

Champion Of The World - Sunset
The lyrics (and interestingly enough, the chords) have appeared in a New Zealand newspaper: Spoiler for those who don't want to know the lyrics until release day: [spoiler=] [MEDIA=twitter]1196513566393810949[/MEDIA] View: https://twitter.com/coldplayxtra/status/1196513566393810949?s=19

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
It's disappointing, really. Out of the LPs 5 thru 7, Ghost Stories is undoubtedly my favorite. I had hoped the subsequent album would be similarly dark and continue to be at least somewhat adventurous, a la Oceans, Midnight, and Ghost Story. But I remember very similar comments from the band about having to get that record "out of their system."

I wish they'd play Everything's Not Lost on a regular basis again. That'd be amazing. Same with Live Is For Living, the original version of Warning Sign, Death And All His Friends, Cemeteries of London (they did play it a few times in the early part of the MX era), Lost!, AROBTTH, Glass of Water, White Shadows, Spies (that live intro is absolutely perfect), the AROBTTH version of Don't Panic with the different intro and Chris on electric guitar... Heck, I could think of entire setlists made up entirely of rare tracks I wish they'd play again.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/coldplays-record-label-say-they-want-to-release-another-album-as-soon-as-possible-after-everyday-life__27757/ Hmmmm.... this has me a little concerned about LP9. I'm holding onto hope that Everyday Life is a record that will change Coldplay forever and have a sound that will influence much of their future work, but if it's something they had to "get out of their system," I worry that we may be getting a commercialized AHFOD 2 after all...

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
I listened to Life Is Beautiful again for the first time in a while and just realized how much it fits in lyrically with Everyday Life. It would have been a good companion to the more uplifting songs like Champion of the World.

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
I guess it makes sense that they decided to take a break from recording after late 2017... they had spent the better part of the last 2 years on tour, they had to make some time to record SJLT with the Chainsmokers in 2016, and they had spent part of 2017 trying to finish the Kaleidoscope EP. I'd assume the AHFOD film was in development in 2017. Sounds exhausting to me!

Ooooh! I had never heard that song before, and now that I have listened to it... I guess I need to listen to more Frightened Rabbit now! :D That song is amazing, indeed!

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
We now have less than one week until the official release date. Wow! I still can't believe that we've got LP8 this quickly, I expected the band's so-called "hibernation" to last into next year. All I'm gonna say about the supposed Aiko-Eko connection without spoiling whether or not Eko is the same as the track popularly known as Aiko... is that I really like both. ;) It should be noted that the name Aiko refers to Mylo's father in the MX comics. So it makes sense that, if Aiko is the same as Eko, the spelling would be changed to something that fits a new era better.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
I'm positive everyone is there in Eko. There's that piano, I hear two acoustic guitars, and I can hear a bass guitar. As for Old Friends? I know Chris can play acoustic guitar pretty well but then again it could be him or Jonny. On a slightly different note, I wonder about When I Need A Friend. Could that just be Chris and Jacob Collier?

Random Coldplay thoughts...
Guy finally used his Instagram for something Coldplay-related, haha! [MEDIA=instagram]B45zCQjpnoz[/MEDIA] View: https://www.instagram.com/p/B45zCQjpnoz/?igshid=w6j03c12hllp I enjoy his photography and car-related content, though, as well as that Synchro Sunday thing he did earlier in the year in which he'd pick an album from his record collection and invite followers to listen from start to finish at the same time.

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
I really hope so... after all, GS Live 2014 (the DVD) came from a TV special. And here in the US, stupid NBC decided to cut songs out of the broadcast for time so we had to rely on the internet for those performances until the DVD came out. : unamused:

Orphans - Muzi Remix
It's alright I guess... only thing that really stands out to me is the lyric video, which is very well made. Not as stunning as the one for AICTAIY, but pretty good.

Everyday Life and depression
First of all... thank you for sharing this. It's interesting because music affects people in so many different ways. I became a fan when I heard X&Y for the first time. I was a depressed teenager at the time who still deals with that from time to time, and for me the darker atmosphere of X&Y was therapeutic, as were albums like Radiohead's Kid A, Deftones' White Pony, and Blink-182's self-titled album. I was actually in a similar situation to you, I got hospitalized more than once. Things got better over time, I saw Coldplay live for the first time in 2016 and that was powerful for me, but then things got bad again. I started university and I felt lost, got involved in a bad crowd, and just... struggled. I did poorly in classes, I took out my frustration with myself on other people who have never spoken to me since then... I hate thinking about that time. I dislike that version of myself so much. Things have been on the upswing again after a couple years, thank goodness... Everyday Life hits me, as some in my generation might put it, "right in the feels." There are aspects of it that hit very close to home. Personally, I find that therapeutic. But I completely understand why that might not be the case for everyone. Stay strong, my friend. :sunrise::moon:

2020 Tour, Festivals, Shows
Well... perhaps this news bodes well for the idea that LP9 could be coming late next year or perhaps in early 2021.

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
I'm still struggling to pin down a favorite song. They're all amazing in their own way... I even love WOTW/POTP just for the simplicity. Though if I had to narrow it down to a few songs in no particular order, my top 5 are Trouble In Town, Daddy, Arabesque, Everyday Life, and Eko. That's what I thought as well. It's possible they wanted that symmetry of 8 songs per half of the album so they made the tough decision to cut one from the main track listing and it just so happened to be Flags that got removed. I wonder if it's about some of the same subject matter as Orphans. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think the title perhaps has something to do with refugees wishing they could be accepted while they live under a flag that's not their own? That's just pure speculation on my part... :sunrise::moon:

Everyday life - the track - Sunset
Does anyone else think that if they end up playing this song live in the future (after Jordan), it should transition straight into Life Is For Living? I think that'd make for a beautiful combination at the end of a show.

LIVE Idea: Everyday Life (song) transition --> Everything's Not Lost
That's a great idea. Or maybe Everyday Life could transition into Life Is For Living?

Everyday Life Leak Discussion [SPOILERS INSIDE]
Remember, my fellow listeners... we still haven't heard every new song because Flags has yet to leak. I'm really hoping it's as good as All Your Friends and Ghost Story, and honestly I'm confident that it will be after listening to the main album and not being disappointed by a single track.
