LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
I saw a post about this on Facebook yesterday. Hopefully it's a sign of more news in the near future, hopefully a few shows... Gosh I've been hoping for this ever since they announced the Jordan show(s). After all it has a similar premise; they're playing the full album. Maybe it'll include the exclusive "premium" YouTube content.

I want to hear a collaboration with Juanes. It seems like he's a fan; he likes all of Coldplay's Instagram posts. I wouldn't at all be surprised if that'd result in a true rock sound, given Juanes' track record :)

At this point I wonder if Conscious Pilot has just been renamed... I'm sure they're all still a little bit tired after that massive AHFOD tour. No need to do that again for a while. They've said they don't really feel the need to please everybody anymore, maybe taking more time for themselves is part of this new mindset. If anybody is really showing their age, honestly it's Jonny, but maybe it's just the beard that makes me think so. I've been really intrigued by this song. I think it was Annie Mac who said it's a tear-jerker? Interesting that at the same time it's that catchy, assuming this person isn't another Kirboh making things up.

Guns - Sunset
I was really hoping they'd drop Guns today... maybe it'll be a Saturday release again. It's weird, part of me doesn't want them to drop so many tracks before the album is released, but at the same time I crave these new songs and that teaser clip got me beyond hyped :joy:

Everyday Life - Live in Jordan on YouTube 22 Nov
I'm on the fence about submitting a clip. I can sing to some degree, but I'd butcher that chorus so badly. :joy: On another note... rehearsals are underway! View: https://www.instagram.com/p/B4nYruxA8uj/?igshid=4goptytc0if1

I do hear the piano from that part of Major Minus, the background synths, and maybe Jonny's riff (just not on a guitar).

There is that album release day show in Jordan, and supposedly they are doing an intimate show for Radio 1 like they normally do for each new era. They are confirmed to be performing at the Global Citizen Festival later on next year. But apart from these shows? Gosh, I think if we get anything at all it'll just be a few shows in smaller venues here and there like they did for Ghost Stories. Maybe a random summertime festival, kind of like how they played at Radio 1's Big Weekend in 2014.

I've always thought that the track popularly know as Aiko was the original Aiko, perhaps remixed by Jon Hopkins, and that the original version became the bridge of Major Minus. But then again... maybe I'm wrong and it's just a reprise/remix of that section from Major Minus that was done specifically for the part in Live 2012 where Will talks after Princess of China. The Wikipedia page for Live 2012 just calls the track "Major Minus"; maybe when I finally rewatch Live 2012 like I've been wanting to, I can take a better look at the end credits to see if they mention the name "Aiko" or if the piece is just called something like "Major Minus (Reprise)."

What is Coldplays best live song?
Charlie Brown is so good live. Especially with Xylobands glowing in the dark. ;) The thought of it gives me goosebumps.

I don't think the album is out yet here in North America. Can't wait til it drops, though! The two Reworked EPs were beautiful so I have really high hopes.

I'd expect Timbaland's contribution to just be more like his production on True Love or OneRepublic's Apologize. Not that I dislike True Love, in fact that song has really grown on me... I just think it's odd that he'd work on a sweet ballad. I'd sooner expect to hear he worked on Orphans than Everyday Life. I don't necessarily trust a tabloid site like Entertainment Weekly, but this is an interesting tidbit from 2007. Imagine VLVODAAHF with Timbaland. : unamused: https://ew.com/article/2007/02/07/coldplay-considering-collaboration-timbaland/

Funny, because Clocks was the same way. Thet wrote it at the very end of the recording sessions for AROBTTH and Phil ended up being the one who convinced the band to finish it rather than shelve it for a couple years. Anyways, I really like this new interview... If this means songs like Arabesque as well as more pop-oriented music like AHFOD, I'm fine with that. I'm an Oldplayer at heart who dreams of Viva Part 2 but ultimately, overcoming that fear of disappointing people is important. At this point, with the band's current mindset, it's probably only Parlophone who can stop them from creating a certain type of music.

I'm not too worried about songs that are only a couple minutes long. Puts more pressure on the band to make the track memorable when they only have 2 and a half minutes to work with. Don't Panic is great and it's only 2:17. *shrug* I remember thinking this as soon as I saw the name "Eko." Could just be a new spelling, if Aiko is supposed to be pronounced "Ay-koh." I'm not counting on it, but I hope I'm wrong!

Politically conscious Coldplay has been a thing for a long time. Twisted Logic is essentially an anti-climate change anthem, Politik is about the state of the world in late 2001, Violet Hill is a commentary on world events in 2007-2008, VLV references the French Revolution, ALIENS and Moving to Mars are songs about refugees... this is nothing new, apart from the fact that Everyday Life seems to have more of these political themes than previous albums. Yeah, more than one artist I listen to has done this in the lead-up to their respective album release. Blink-182 did it, Liam Gallagher did it... I do wish they wouldn't release half the album in advance, but at the same time I understand the marketing logic behind doing so. At least Coldplay has a few more tracks to choose from when it comes to singles, assuming there are only a couple of interludes on the album.

Guns - Sunset
Anyone else think this resembles The Who's Pinball Wizard? Especially that melody at the end... and to top it all off, there's that Who-esque target design.

Guns - Sunset
   The snippet reminds me of Viva demos like Bloodless Revolution and The Man Who Swears. It's political, it's angry, and it's raw. And I'm here for it, goodness gracious I can't wait for this track.

Actually, I just realized something very interesting... Which Coldplay song do these lyrics remind you of? ;):x&y:

Noel would probably make some snarky comment about the collab at a show or Liam would tweet something like "Look who's on my side now ya f****n potato Coldplay were a pleasure why me why not LGx" :joy: Seriously though, I've been hoping Coldplay would work with Liam on an album ever since that version of Live Forever at One Love Manchester. That little bit from the mock press conference where Chris and some backup singers tease a song (probably BrokEn?), of course, reminds me of Liam's song When I'm In Need: "When I'm broken and I'm in need Feel that ocean (feel that ocean) Swallowing me (swallowing me)"

So I'm sitting here in the student center of my university listening to Orphans. The song ends, I take off my headphones, and walk into the food court to get some lunch. Immediately I hear the opening notes of Arabesque coming from the kitchen. I finish grabbing my food and sit down at a table nearby as Arabesque finishes. And then Everyday Life plays! I love coincidences like this. :D I'm glad to hear these songs out in public, too -- they deserve the exposure.

So it isn't "Conscious Pilot" after all, haha! I've always loved when they make an effort to include little lyric snippets in these designs on band equipment. They add to the overall aesthetic quite well.

LP8 Thread - Everyday Life
I wouldn't rank Everybody Life with the albums yet when we only have 3 songs. But if we pretend those 3 songs are an EP... 1. Prospekt's March 2. The Blue Room/Safety 3. Everyday Life 4. Kaleidoscope 5. ETIAW 6. Brothers & Sisters Stargate? Again?!? I like what I see from the rest of that list though...it suggests a very old school vibe with some indie rock thrown in.
