Describe your favourite Coldplay member
My favorite Coldplay member is Jonny. I think he's one of the most underrated guitarists in the realm of popular artists. He's not as technically proficient as some other guitarists, but that just owes a lot to the style of music that he generally plays. The music of Coldplay is more focused on melodies than technicalities. The only time you will ever hear Jonny "shred" like a metal guitarist is the end of GPASUYF. Listen to any live version from 2011 or 2012 and you will hear what I mean. :awesome: But one thing I love about Jonny Buckland is that he's so humble. He's not the most versatile musician in the band... Will definitely deserves that recognition... but instead, Jonny can some up with some of the prettiest and catchiest riffs I have ever heard. You can tell he is inspired by The Edge and Ed O'Brien because of how much he enjoys effects and trying to create a diverse range of sounds from his chosen instrument. Sure, he has a signature delay sound, but he manages to do creative things with his sound in order to keep things fresh. Listen to Spies, Oceans, and Atlas to hear the haunting sound of his E-bow, creating atmospheric sounds and textures that would otherwise require a synthesizer. And did I mention that Jonny is a good singer? Ok, he's not as good as Chris and Will, but I appreciate the moments when we get to hear him sing. Other than most versions of Don't Panic, you can really hear him on live versions of Politik and Daylight, harmonizing during the verses with his deep voice.

Interesting, a solo acoustic Green Eyes. I like how they've varied how they play that song over the years. They play it on every tour, but it's never exactly the same:

The World Turned Upside Down: "Can't tell your right side from your wrong" Things I Don't Understand: "I can't, and I can't decide, wrong, wrong from right" What If: "What if there was no light? Nothing wrong, nothing right" Ink: "All I know, all I know, is that I'm lost in your fire below" True Love: "And all along the fire below would rise"

I bought a clicker device yesterday because it is a required material in my biology class. Whenever you turn one on, after you've registered its serial number, you need to change the signal to a certain channel in order to use it for a specific class. Of course, the clicker channel for my class is #42. :D

Actually, now that I think of it, I'd enjoy that too. Back when Charlie Brown was first written during the recording sessions for MX, it was originally intended to be on an acoustic song until the band decided to scrap the acoustic album. So you could say that we'd be hearing a "baby" Charlie Brown if they were to play it acoustically. :D

Those are some amazing choices, with the exception of Charlie Brown, Always In My Head, and ASFOS. There's a good chance that they will play all three songs anyway. :P Green Eyes has a good chance of getting picked. Same with Us Against The World. Violet Hill can no longer be counted out because they've played it once already. :) I'm curious how they would get Politik to work on the c-stage because it's such a "big" song... but then again, Violet Hill is kind of the same way so who knows?

Worst Coldplay Songs Ever!
I only just brought myself to listen to it again a few days ago. It still hasn't grown on me. :P

Oh, the memories that this video brings back... even though that wasn't the show I attended! In my opinion, Up&Up is right up there with Life Is For Living and Fix You as best concert closer.

We should've just merged this thread with the XMTS thread. ;) https://coldplaying.com/forum/index.php?threads/x-marks-the-spot-hidden-track.105005/page-14

I've always found it so odd that they never bothered to play that song again on the MX tour. Maybe at the iTunes Festival they only played it because there was still a chance that it could show up on MX. Then when they cut the song from the album, they did what they do to most B-sides and refused to play it live because most casual fans wouldn't know the song. :(

Maybe there was a request but they couldn't get the Instagram video to work so they just acted like it wasn't a request?

I know, right??? The World Stage concert is great but the video cuts out a lot of the songs, like The Hardest Part and Strawberry Swing. :(

That's kind of what I thought back in November when they played Sparks on the night of the terror attacks in Paris... :( Of course I was devastated but it did manage to put a smile on my face when I was watching the livestream and they started playing that really old song. Don't be embarrassed!!! And if you want to request a song, I do think that you'll have a better chance if it's something they tend to choose a lot (like Don't Panic, In My Place, or Trouble). But at least Warning Sign is a song that they don't appear to dislike (unlike a lot of X&Y), so maybe you could try that one? Or if you really want something from X&Y, they've played Til Kingdom Come a bunch so that would be the safest option. Best of luck if you do end up making a video. :)

That's my favorite Coldplay concert video ever. It was the first full-length Coldplay concert I ever watched so it will always hold a lot of sentimental value for me. :) At the time I really only knew X&Y and the hits, so a bunch of the songs like How You See The World, Don't Panic, Politik, and GPASUYF were brand new to me. This video introduced me to what Coldplay was all about and made me even more eager to discover their music.

So yesterday the band apparently soundchecked a song that hadn't been played in at least five years: Mobile Link: https://twitter.com/coldplay/status/770402844822216705 I wonder if it was Cemeteries of London... they haven't played that one since the summer of 2011, which would make it about five years. Wouldn't that be a nice surprise at a concert? Please, Coldplay!!! Make a DVD for this tour!!! I'm begging you!!!

@AMDB9, I'm so glad you had fun and thanks for the Periscope last night!! :D I'm willing to guess right now that the song in question is Cemeteries of London, which is probably doomed to another five years without being played. :(

Me too! I'd be just as happy as I was back in April when they played some old X&Y gems for the first time in years. No worries! If I were there, I would probably be screaming and singing along badly, too. ;)

Thank you!! :) I really hope it ends up being Moving To Mars!! Getting to hear a rarity like that would probably make me die of happiness, haha!

I think it sounds better on piano, but any live version of Proof is a real rarity! Thank goodness someone actually recorded this!

No problem. :) Up In Flames is definitely not one of my favorite songs, but I would probably like it more if the album recording sounded more like this version.

I haven't heard this early version of AROBTTH in a long time and I stumbled upon it again a little bit ago. Though the sound quality is kind of off, and bits of the song sound a little disjointed, I think it sounds nice with piano. Some of the alternate lyrics are great, too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le7lkwv8fIY That is really beautiful, I think I like it more than the studio version. I really need to listen to this song more and it would be a nice addition to the C-stage set on the AHFOD tour. ;)

Hi Arman, welcome to the forums! :) There are plenty of teen fans here so you should have no problem finding people around your age. I'm 18 so I'm kinda still a teen, I guess? No matter how young or old you are, the music of Coldplay can still make an impact on your life. :)
