Zeppo: "You know we're all in this boat together, don't you?"

Groucho: "Sure I do. And if you make the hull out of Swiss cheese, while it might sink faster, at least it will taste good going down."

Oh crystal ball, crystal ball save us all tell me live is beautiful

Different story, same year. Root causes - getting to them, fixing them - fixes a host of maladies.

Why is it that a group of Baptists who might have abducted (mistakenly or not) some non-orphaned youngsters in Haiti, while that's an important right's issue - why does that overshadow the real life and death drama of getting water, food, medicine, medical treatment, sanitation, and other necessities to those desperately in need? I can't understand the priorities. It's as though the people who decide what's newsworthy are too far above reality and empathy to get it. Soap opera drama takes precedent over critical life and death issues..

I am so glad for this statement. Because I was thinking the same today. Why all this focus on these people while there are reports of children disappearing from hospitals. (This I read in a personal report from a young Haitian woman named Nadine Perrault who works for Unicef as an expert in protection of vulnerable children - she visited Denmark a few days ago). And as you say there are still Haitians out there needing water, food, medicine, medical treatment etc. Haiti will need help for a very long time.

And recently John Travolta was allowed to fly a big airplane to Haiti filled with necessities - he and his wife brought some missionaries from his religion too. At the same time big planes with necessities like much needed surgical equipment and medicine from the big relief organizations were referred to airports in the Dominican Republic. The transport to Haiti then was by truck or the like on bad roads damaged by the earthquake.

Thanks Carla!
