Garage bands

Featured Replies

Alright.. So.. I noticed that it seems like that a few bands seem to be thrown into a category of this, like the Strokes, Vines, and the Hives I think, too. Jet maybe?

Any other good ones?

Do you agree about that the Strokes are kinda in that category though, dude?

kiiiiiiiinnnndaaa.

I think they're more like, mainstream rock now? Since more and more people are listening to em?

But they kind of fit the garage rock style.

they're called Garage because of their Sound. like their recordings..not too produced or perfectly mixed, more of a 'raw' live sound. The Strokes and The White Stripes etc are completely Garage bands.

The White Stripes are more of a garbage band

Vines, and the Hives I think, too. Jet maybe?

I wouldn't call any of these bands "garage rock". The production is just way too polished.

The Strokes are about as good an example as you can get of a garage rock band. They tend to record their songs live in the studio with just one take, without any overdubs (except maybe the vocals). That's just about as raw a sound as you're going to get

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are another garage band which instantly springs to mind.

The White Stripes are more of a garbage band

teehee

i dont think they're garbage but i DO think they're very over-rated

I guess Jet...Yes.

And The Vines... too

I think the Strokes were mainstream pretty much as soon as their first record came out.

Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. :P
