THE **I LOVE HARRY POTTER** THREAD

So you're on sorcerer's stone right now? I remember thumbing through it days after finishing deathly hallows, the difference is unbelievable...

no I'm on GOF now

I know what you mean, the writing style is insanely different between the too. J.K. Rowling's writing has improved so much, they just seem like they're written by two different authors. It's crazy.

I completely agree. When I first re-read it I could barely believe it was the same series. Everything went so much faster and with less detail.

Having personally terrorized and murdered countless wizards, witches and muggles alike in two reigns of power, and instigating such horror that only the bravest dare speak his name, surely you-know-who would top a list of 'scariest literary villains'.

However, despite old voldy's evil tactics, not even he-who-must-not-be-named dared go after over a hundred cute dalmatian puppies!!!

Yes, in a list of the top ten scariest villains in children's literature, Tom Riddle only manages 6th place, right behind the, apparently more horrific, Cruella De Vil... :P

  1. White Witch (The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis – 1950)
  2. Captain Hook (Peter Pan by JM Barrie – 1904)
  3. The Grand High Witch (The Witches by Roald Dahl – 1983)
  4. Wicked Stepmother (Snow White by Brothers Grimm – 1810)
  5. Cruella De Vil (The Hundred and One Dalmatians by Dodie Smith – 1956)
  6. Voldemort (Harry Potter books by JK Rowling – 1997)
  7. The Child Catcher (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Ian Fleming – from the 1968 film. Not the original book)
  8. Miss Trunchbull (Matilda by Roald Dahl – 1988)
  9. The Wolf (Red Riding Hood by Brothers Grimm – 1810)
  10. Long John Silver (Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson – 1883)

^ummm....anyone ever heard of Sauron? Prince of Darkness, Lord of the Rings, the EYE OF MORDOR? Hello!:(

^ I was thinking about that as well actually , my only guess is that they don't regard LOTR's as children's literature. But they're cutting it really close...

I don't know. LOTR is really border-line. I read Two Towers when I was 10 years old and understood every word (before I saw the movie)

Yeah, it could really go either way. It's tough to gauge what movies and video games like to refer to as "fantasy violence". I'm sorry to confess that I didn't know what LOTR's was until I saw the movie previews, but having read most of the harry potter series, and starting on the hobbit, the fellowship etc., there's really wasn't anything I couldn't handle...

yea, I didn't know what LOTR was then either. When I first saw the preview, I thought it was a Harry Potter copy:rolleyes:

^ummm....anyone ever heard of Sauron? Prince of Darkness.:(

No, because as everybody knows, there's only one Prince of Darkness, and that's Ozzy Osbourne!!:P

Emma Watson kiss worries Rupert Grint

Growing up on screen is proving to be a challenge for Rupert Grint, who tells Mandrake that he is dreading filming romantic scenes with Emma Watson, his co-star in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Richard Eden

"As I've known Emma for so long, I reckon it will be 10 times worse," says the 20-year-old actor, who plays Ron Weasley.

"I really love the seventh book, but there is no way it will be tame with the Hermione stuff."

The kiss, which is due to be filmed next month, should have been a walk in the park for Grint after his graphic performance opposite Kimberley Nixon, a 23-year-old Welsh actress, in the forthcoming film Cherrybomb. The actor compares them with the nude scenes that Daniel Radcliffe is currently performing on stage in New York.

"I don't think it's quite up there with Dan's Equus, but it was quite a surreal experience, especially as we were sharing the bed with half a dozen camera crew," he says. "But, yeah, I was quite nervous, I think we both were.

"It was a new thing for the two of us – though, weirdly, I remember Kim and I doing a crossword in between takes. That definitely took our minds off the deed."

He now hopes that Emma, 18, who plays the brainy Hermione Granger, will be similarly distracted. "I'll have a stack of crosswords at the ready," he says.

It seems like no matter what, this thread always comes back to Emma Watson:rolleyes:

Hey, if Rupert is too chicken, I would gladly dye my hair red and do the scene for him!:wideeyed:

BTW, has anyone seen cherrybomb, or is not released yet? It was supposed to come out last December from what I heard... It's sort of a shame that Rupert is so often overshadowed by his co-stars. Everyone seems to know about Emma Watson in ballet shoes and the tale of despereaux, and Daniel Radcliffe in December Boys and Equus, but who ever hears about the two other films Rupert Grint's done in the last four years? Dan and Emma always get invited on the late night talk shows (Dan's been on Conan 2 or 3 times in the past 6 months), but they never pay that much attention to ol' won won...err...I mean Rupert. :P

Then again, how's he supposed to compete with a guy who rides horses on stage naked, and a girl who is simply a lot more attractive than his Ron Weasley could ever be?

Well, Rupert honestly just isn't that good-looking or special.

Daniel gets the treatment because he is THE "HARRY POTTER". That's arguably the biggest image of this decade, and he is the entire image.

And Emma is stunningly beautiful, a very good actress, but most importantly, a class-act and a good role model. She gets all her attention mostly because she is a nice break from all the other teen girl starts who have lost their way and ruined themselves.

Rupert is just an average-looking male actor who plays a sidekick. No offense to him, but it's just natural that he won't get as much attention.

Yeah, I know it makes sense, although it must be sort of annoying that Watson receives 10x more spotlight, when their characters are of equal importance in the series.

Not that I'm complaining! :P and for all I know, he isn't either.

sorry, my university network always gets really really slow at 2:00 each night, (hence the quadruple post). I'll just find some pictures to fill in those extra posts...
