anybody read new jk rowling book?

If you mean Beedle the Bard then yeah I did. I liked it alot and Dumbledore's commentary was fun to read. My favorite was the Tale of the Three Brothers. :)

Yeah, it was very nice. I'm glad it was more than just the stories, the annotations and dumbledore's commentary made it kinda interesting.

BTW, today is the birthday of....

in other news...

The "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" movie rating has been confirmed as (to my surprise) PG.

Actress Emma Watson has been awarded "best dressed of december" by Teen Vogue.

...and Toby Jones, voice of Dobby in COS will return to play the elf in deathly hallows.

That pic:lol:

PG? really? maybe it will be like the dark knight. that got a lesser rating than it deserved. it should have been R but was PG13

Emma Watson:o

yea, she's best dressed:dozey:

i loved the footnotes and dumbledore's commentary...another brilliant idea...she's an exceptional writer. really looking forward to the new movie. (and to hp full series dvd box ;) ).

ps: i think my favourite tale was the one about the hairy heart.

Yeah, my faves are probably the fountain of fair fortune, the warlock's hairy heart, and the tale of the three brothers.

Here's the interview by the way, it's actually pretty funny, albeit not nearly as hilarious as his jonathan ross appearances.

Funny you should ask that. I came back to college on sunday. And after having re-read deathy hallows and half-blood prince last semester, I'm now 3/4 of the way through Order of the Phoenix (me and my nostalgic literature :P), it's great...I'd forgotten so much.

Also in my boredom I saw the movie again online. After another viewing I noticed there's surprisingly good attention payed to detail throughout many of the scenes. All the major points of the plot were acknowledged, but apart from the fact they had to throw out some sub-plots (quidditch, SPEW etc.), there was very little time to slow down and soak in the drama. For instance: They had maybe a 10-15 second dream sequence showing Harry worrying about his hearing, but it was so spontaneous and fast that you're left scratching your head. Same is true with the snake and Mr. Weasley. They charged through the plot so fast, and jumped from scene to scene so fast, that even the serious parts neglect the actors a chance to really flourish.

I understand that how they had already ignored half the book and so were trying to show as much as they could, but they could've made the movie at least 30 minutes longer so they could focus more on some of the more serious scenes.

:edit: and I do hate that little scene of Harry seeing Voldemort standing beside the hogwarts express. It made no sense, and they kept flashing back to like it really happened...

yea, I'm actually on my first time re-reading the series, so when I get to the last 3 I know how much to look forward to!:D

and I agree about OOTP. I personally think it was one of the worst yet, simply because of the way they added unnecessary things and took away cool things.

So you're on sorcerer's stone right now? I remember thumbing through it days after finishing deathly hallows, the difference is unbelievable...

I know what you mean, the writing style is insanely different between the too. J.K. Rowling's writing has improved so much, they just seem like they're written by two different authors. It's crazy.
