did u guys buy/read the tales of beedle the bard?

i didnt.... i wonder if she's still writing because she really loves it and it's her passion, or if she's just trying to milk her success until the end? she always promised there would only be 7 books anyway

Sort of, but not too much.;)

I love Harry Potter as well:D

I have not read Beedle the Bard, mostly because I've heard it's not involving any of the main HP characters, and also that it's written more for children, much unlike the last few HP books.

I think she is writing cuz she loves it. I mean obviously she wants to make more money (who hates money?), but as an amateur author, I can tell you a passion like that never truly goes away. She will continue writing, and probably have some success.

I am not much of a fan of her as a person (I think she's kind of snobby and uptight), but for some reason her writing grabs me like no other author can. I can't explain it but when I am reading those books, I never get bored.

Mostly Switzerland.;)

balderdash! for mc, EVERY thread is a pun thread! :P

btw I started beedles tales...(I could finish it in one sitting, but I'm lazy), and it's nice. I particularly like the footnotes and dumbledore's commentary after each story. It's like a historic literature piece being analyzed which adds to the sincerity.

It's not too kiddy?

no, not for the HP enthusiast anyway. It's not like the enthrallment of the series, or even much of a book by itself...but it's a few step above the little textbooks she did for comic relief.

I might check it out then

which was you favorite of the books anyway?:)

Well it's hard not to choose Deathly Hallows, since that's where the final showdown happens and all the mysteries get resolved, but Goblet of Fire always stood out for me. I absolutely loved the whole quidditch world cup and triwizard tournament, probably because I was so into sports at the time. It's also where Rowling's writing and the plot came into full force. POA was somewhat of a side plot, and the first two books were two seemingly disconnected events...but when voldemort came back, you began to anticipate the rest of the series. Plus I thought the writing was a lot better than the previous books...

I also really liked Half-blood prince because of the stark contrast between the warm-hearted romance and the powerful tragedy. The moment Dumbledore died, everything that happened leading up that is sort of rendered obsolete. You?

Well I couldn't have described HBP any better if I had 10 days to think about it. You summed it up right there

I agree that DH is the "finale", so it's hard to not pick it, but I have to say Order of the Phoenix for me. That's the one that got me back into the series after a good 5 or 6 years since I had read GOF. I just loved every minute and I felt the length wasn't pushy, it flowed all the way till the end. Plus it was the only true showdown between Dumbledore and Voldemort.

no way! I just got "Grace" for Christmas and it's really good. I prefer his Hallelujah Live at Bearsville version, but the album version is still a classic.
