One moment please.. I must do some searching and remembering.. It's been a while since they passed on many moons ago..

Magda, my Grandmother came from Dolna' Lehota, Slovakia (the stone house still stands in the town!), and my Grandfather came from Cehtice, Bohemia...:)

?

are you a part of typical 3rd generation of immigrants? :p

???Is there something about being a third-generation from immigrants that I am unaware of??:laugh3:

Welcome to the europe thread chuckster..:D

aye! :P your grandparents are 1st generation of immigrants that remember their culture, but their children don't :p that's the whole point :D

I see. It's a pity they didn't come from Moravia :P You know, I live in the south of Moravia :)

First there is Bohemia; then Moravia; and as the shape of the country gets narrower and more mountainous, there is Slovakia; and finally, at the very narrow mountainous tip, Podkarpatska' Rus. And at the very tip of that is a plate of Kolachky's; poppyseed, prune, date, and apricot.:P

So, the south of Moravia is where the good farmland is??:)

Yeah, it's the good farmland :D Lots of wine, potatoes and stuff. But wine, that's what we're famous for.

Yes, I have heard about Moravian Wine.. Nice to have good growing conditions! Keep growing those spuds, too;)

Yeah, that's it. :) And there are special expositions of wine and stuff, and I work there, as a part-time job  So, that's pretty good.

Anyway, don't you want to visit your grandparents' land? ;)

How is everyone? I'm down with the flu..:sick2:

Hey Rick. I'm sorry for you. Hope you'll get better soon. :) (in fact I'm replying four days after your post, so you might be alright now)

I'm quite fine, but too busy. I haven't posted for a week or two now. I've got lots of things to do, either to school, or something else, like reading, photographing and stuff. On Wednesday I was to a course of digital photography, it was pretty good and interesting. Today, I'm going there as well, the second part. It's going to be about editing the pictures in the computer and such.

Anyway, what have you been up to? I mean everyone, not just Rick. :)

Talk to you soon!

I'm off on illness. If that makes sense.

Magda, any new photos up on deviantart?

Oh yes I am all better now, good that your keeping busy..:)

Glad to hear you're all better, Rick! Flu's pretty wicked stuff to have!!:biker: Elegantine, is it the flu, or just needed a break??;)

Yes, some day!! First I need to survive, make some money, save a little, and get things cleared up around the farm! When I get a little better situated, I'll go globe-trotting. So, does this part-time job involve samples??:p:p:p Moravian foods??

It's not flu. I had higher temperature a week ago, but I sneeze all winter. And now there's hay fever ...

That's a pity, Nina, hope you'll get better soon. (You've got a lot of time to edit pictures and make new avatars though. :wacky: )

I sneeze all year long.

Thanks Magda!

No I don't. I've just entered hell, otherwise known as studying.

Well kinda, I'm going to upload two pictures or something. ;)

I was to the photography course and finally I'm ok with the camera we've got at home (Fujifilm Finepix S9500). :D

You can check it out in a half an hour, it's going to be there by that time. :)

Thanks Magda!

I see. What are you studying now? For Monday, I need to study just English, we're writing a test, so that's quite ok. I just need to repeat all the vocabulary we've been using in the last lesson. :D
