March 27, 200620 yr beckhamcrosses, I agree. Technically, it is not U2's best. Commercially, it is not U2's best. Critically, it is not recieved well. However, content-wise, I find it amazing. I absolutely love 'Wake Up Dead Man'. How it's almost Bono disregarding Jesus, questioning him. It's very angry. Full of semi-raw emotion. Maybe this does have to do with the rushing of many of the tracks. [/ way, I QUOTE] Have you read "Walk on" by Steve Stockman??
March 27, 200620 yr No I haven't, actually! Is that the book that examines U2's Christianity, and how it affects their songs? I've never found the book ANYWHERE near me (not in any libraries, not in any book stores), and I didn't know if it was that good so I haven't bothered to order it off Amazon.com. Speaking of which, IS it worth ordering?
March 28, 200620 yr Edge's voice is amazing! They need to bring back his Popmart cover of Bloody Sunday... That's my favorite version of that song' date=' ever.[/quote'] Hahaha I';m glad. Have you ever seen U2 live before?
March 28, 200620 yr I've seen them four times on the Vertigo tour, but never before that. This is really the first tour where I've been old enough to be allowed to go to my own shows. Ah well. I close my eyes and pretend to be at a Popmart show... sometimes...
March 28, 200620 yr Cool, I saw them in Boston. I wish I had more money so I could have seen them 4 times haha. Oh yeah you saw the May 28th show right?
March 28, 200620 yr Cool' date=' I saw them in Boston. I wish I had more money so I could have seen them 4 times haha. Oh yeah you saw the May 28th show right?[/quote'] Yep! Man, it definately cost me a thing or two.....:shocked2: I'm glad they're taking quite awhile off, because I'm down the tubes with how much I spent (damn scalpers SHOULD BURN IN HELL!!!:veryangry2: ). Oh well. All worth it. Very, VERY worth it.
March 29, 200620 yr No I haven't, actually! Yeah, I liked it, a totally different read on U2 from the normal Biography type book. . . . . . . On another subject. . . how much did you spend on your tickets?? I spend $2500 on the 5 shows below. . . . I can't wait till November. . . . and I must change my signature too. . . .one of these days. . . .
March 29, 200620 yr On another subject. . . how much did you spend on your tickets?? I spend $2500 on the 5 shows below. . . . I can't wait till November. . . . and I must change my signature too. . . .one of these days. . . . :shocked2: :shocked2: they're many..I just spent..let me think... ...around 120€ for two shows (all definately worth it :nice:), and luckily I didn't have to feed the damn scalpers, I was so proud I could tell them "I already have it" when they asked me if I needed a ticket :veryangry: :censored: they can all burn in hell
March 29, 200620 yr Yeah, I am not a fan of ticket scalpers, but if it wasn't for them I would have missed out on a few shows (Sting at the Royal Albert Hall in 96 for example 4th row from the front!)
March 29, 200620 yr You know what..I think I would have missed the show, the problem is that here we have a sort of "professional" scalpers, people who are given blocks of tickets by the agency responsible to sell them...and this is not fair. I can buy a ticket from someone who have bought some more to resell them, or maybe because he/she bought them for friends and they couldn't come, but when I see these people with all these tickets and on the other side real fans who tried everything to buy them and didn't succeed, well that's when I get angry. There are people who can't afford to spend hundreds dollars or euros or whatever currency, and as the price of tickets is high (at least for U2) scalpers usually ask for at least twice the real price if not more (I saw GA tickets for the Milan shows I've been to being sold at more than 200€, which is almost 4 times the original price).
March 29, 200620 yr There was a bit of a hoo ha in NZ when the tickets went on sale, from the ticketscheister I mean ticketmaster webste crapping it's self, the phone lines over loaded, and people (like me) who queued over night found tickets sold out in just over an hour.... then tickets started appearing on an online auction site within two hours..... $99 GA tickets going for $500 + I managed to get a pair for $450 and another pair for $500, so I could swap for the other show. . . but it was a crazy time, they had no limits, so people could buy 12 tickets a time....... I managed to get my Aussie tickets at face value. . . . . . . which was a blessing, and some cheap airfares to OZ as well. . . . . . I can't wait for Coldplay in June!!
March 31, 200620 yr They are angry and a little pissed off at the moment!! A little? I feel like a manchester citeh supporter. . . . . quite bitter. . . . .
March 31, 200620 yr They are angry and a little pissed off at the moment!! Was it something I said ?
March 31, 200620 yr Yep! Man, it definately cost me a thing or two.....:shocked2: I'm glad they're taking quite awhile off, because I'm down the tubes with how much I spent (damn scalpers SHOULD BURN IN HELL!!!:veryangry2: ). Oh well. All worth it. Very, VERY worth it. it looks
April 1, 200620 yr Looook in my signature - today is April the First - where should I be??????? Rick8 is a kiwi too, where should he be????? where should I have been last weekend? or the weekend before that!. . . . but I'm not bitter. . . . I am calm. . . . . .
